Yamada Sushi

My fiancé and I ordered takeout from Yamada. The wait time was 40 min on a weekend night, which was fine for us. We ordered a spicy California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and sweet potato. They gave us a miso soup for free which was nice of them! However when we started our meal we saw that the majority of the rolls were breaking apart so fast and it was hard to eat them without using a fork to scoop up the roll.

Ordered a couple of times from Yamada. First time I ordered a sashimi / sushi platter for 2; then the second time, the platter for 3.

The fish were all very fresh and the overall presentation was well put together. The meal was very filling.

Relative to other sushi places, Yamada seems to give you a lot for your money.

I only had a takeout experience, but the hostess was very welcoming and made sure my orders were correct.

I'll definitely be back!

My rating will certainly be biased as I probably keep this business alive just by myself.

Yamada Sushi is located hidden among other businesses on Park Avenue in Rutherford and offers very good sushi at reasonable prices. They have a BYOB policy (I believe) and are very good at accommodating people when they are not busy.

Yamada has numerous unique sushi rolls they offer, my favorite being the Jumbo Combo roll (I do not even order it anymore, they know what I am going to get).

Many times the service maybe not being 100% attentive, but they are very kind and always offering more than the average sushi place, including spring rolls and sometimes desserts.

Charlie is an amazing itamae and runs a good business that I hope stays around for a very long time.

My family and I drove an hour for takeout after being recommended by multiple friends. We got the sushi/sashimi platter for 3 and were not disappointed! The price was very good, especially considering the high quality of the sushi. Other sushi restaurants in the area serve very thin slices of fish, but Yamada did not disappoint in their portions. The owners were also very sweet. We will 100% be coming back -- definitely worth the trip!

We came here with the kids yesterday for lunch and ordered some hot apps and sushi. It was absolutely delicious and we all loved it! The service was so friendly and the food came out quickly. We can't wait to go back for some more. I highly recommend this place, everything was delicious!

Prices are great for the location and the yummy food. A HUGE Plus it's a BYOB.

Please someone give this restaurant a new cd or playlist! During the hour and half we were having dinner there they had the same song on repeat. At first you don't even realize until you have then you can't pay attention to anything else but that same song that will play continuously in your head for days and haunt your dreams.

But on to the food! The rolls were delicious and plentiful, we tried several different special rolls and they were all different and surprising. No such thing as the same roll, just change the name and add a different sauce here.

Service was fast and attentive.

Pro- byob and there's a liquor store close by.

The sushi was pretty decent. I love the fact that they are BYOB. It is in a good location. The price is pretty decent. My friend and I went here on a rainy day just to try it out and we did enjoy it. The place was pretty empty, so the waitress did check up on us A LOT. When I say a lot, I mean like every 5 minutes.

This place was good. My sushi was average. I got the Charlie Special roll and it was spicy even though it didn't say so on the menu. And I don't really like things too spicy. It just overpowered the flavor. The shrimp shumai app was good, again nothing special. They did give us complimentary edamame, which my friend who has been here before said that never happened before when she was there. So not sure if its consistent. The edamame though were very good, had the right amount of salt on them. This place is BYOB as most places are in Rutherford as my friend tells me its hard to get a liquor license. So we brought wine and they supplied the glasses. My friend had udon. She loves the udon bowl here. Comes with two pieces of shrimp tempura and some california roll too.

Overally okay. I did like the atmoshphere and we got a nice booth by the window and was able to talk and catch-up. Next time im in Rutherford though I would want to try somewhere else.
