I came here on a Saturday night during a hockey game and it was a really fun atmosphere. They were giving out $3 Pilsners for every time the Canucks scored. Lucky for us, they scored 9 goals so we were able to get lots of cheap beer.
It was a group of 4 of us and we all knew we wanted wings so we ended up getting their special for the month, which featured 5 pounds of wings for 42 CAD. We were able to get 4 different flavors and opted for: Shanghai, Tomahawk, Hai Korean, and Banjo Bourbon. Overall, all of the flavors were really good except for the Shanghai one because we thought it tasted like black licorice.
Since we were here on a Saturday night, it also turned into "sing-along karaoke" night. We had a lot of fun singing to various songs and one of our friends even sang his own song. I'd recommend coming to Yagger's for a fun food and drinking environment with friends.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 4638108996Oct 28, 2018
I've only been to Yagger's a handful of times, two of those times for Simpsons trivia. Every month or so there's Simpsons trivia held in the back room, and I went for the first time back in April, and the second time was last night for a special "Treehouse of Horror" edition. (We had a lot of fun each time, and we'll make this a regular activity.)
Yagger's is a typical bar, perhaps a bit on the dive-y side, and they have fun events such as Simpsons trivia and karaoke. But my god, the food SUCKS. It's terrible.
First, I don't eat pork and there is pork in nearly everything. Even their "cowburger", which would suggest beef, has pork in it. WTF?! And the non-pork food has weird ingredients in it that I don't care for. (Why must you put Gorgonzola cheese in the mac 'n' cheese?!) There are very few items on the menu that I am able to eat, but none of them are good (and very overpriced). None of my friends and I have ever truly enjoyed our food; at best, it was edible.
I do have to applaud the servers, though. When we went to Simpsons trivia the first time, the server, who was great, said that she was the ONLY sever for the entire bar, until about 6pm (and I think the sole bartender as well for about an hour after opening), even though they open at 4pm and trivia begins at 5pm. I asked if an employee had called in sick or something, and she said nope, that's how Yagger's regularly schedules shifts. Despite a bar full of people, the server still made sure everyone got their orders, refills, and didn't neglect the customers. We just had to wait a little longer for some things, but not a big deal.
Same thing last night (which we were expecting). The server was fantastic, and made sure everyone was taken care of, despite being the only server. (I think the kitchen is also understaffed, and at one point she said the food would take a little longer as they had run out of fries. They had also run out of many other items on the menu.)
I'll definitely go back to Yagger's for Simpsons trivia, but I'll probably eat dinner first and just order drinks. If the food wasn't so bad, I'd rate Yagger's three stars.

Had a great time dining & singing with 604 PopUp Choir at Yagger's last night. Service was attentive & friendly and Happy Hour was delicious - the house red wine was quite decent and the Brussels Sprouts appetizer most yummy. Thanks Lee & Adam for teaching us how to sing & harmonize to George Michael's Faith. Plus we got to sing 4-5 more tunes from the songbook. What a fun evening!

We were on the bus back from Stanley Park after a music festival. It was late and we wanted burgers, as one does after a night of drinking and dancing. Yaggers was basically the only place open but we found it literally just as the bus was pulling into their stop so we took that as serendipitous and went in.
It's not very big, longer than it is wide, but we managed to snag the sofa by the front. We happily discovered we'd wandered in on their karaoke night which was adorable. It was a really fun environment, and we enjoyed people's performances while we got our food.
We both got the organic housemade cowburger with fries. And to put it simply, it was bar food. Not exceptional by any means, but good enough to fill a craving when you're drunk and starving. Fries were good; burger was okay but kind of dry. Service was really good, so mostly I'm giving 4 stars for the atmosphere and the fun time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Doris H.Vancouver, Canada2722157Dec 8, 2019
Came here a while ago, I believe it was a Sunday night but it was quite quiet (even the streets were empty for a typical weekend evening in downtown) and I've always seen this place fairly busy.
Was with a couple of friends so a party of four in total. Everyone had a main with some drinks. I ordered the Mac and Cheese which I think was made with blue cheese with a margarita and shared a pitcher of beer with my fiancé. All I can say was that it was meh. Service was average because our server just didn't really seem like she wanted to be there and that were an inconvenience to her.
Menu does seem like it's got a lot of options but nothing really spoke to me since it was typical bar food. Looks like they have a good selection of wings though. They also have a lot of posters up for events that they host.
Probably won't be coming back here again since it was so lacklustre. 3 stars though because service was prompt.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Winchester F.Vancouver, Canada321154789Apr 19, 2017
Tasty drinks. High-strung waitress.
We popped by for drinks while we were waiting for our table reservation at Cinara.
Waitress was kind of rude and high-stung. I asked for a Jack Daniels & Ginger and was told they don't carry Jack. I asked what do they carry that's similar and she told me to look at the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dave M.Vancouver, Canada5041Aug 19, 2019

Come here for beer, skip the food. The Brussels sprouts were soggy, potato skins were flavourless, the dill pickle wings were dry and not good. Strongly regret spending $80 here. Service was good though!

Great hole on the wall with pub food. House Salad was fresh and Poutine fries delicious. If you stay next door at the Ramada, they offer a coupon for a free beer with your meal.

Came in for Simpsons Trivia on a Saturday night and we had a great time, the bar has some good points and bad points, but overall we had a great evening, fun trivia and excellent service
Food: Not very good from the things I tried, prices were okay-ish on the regular menu. We split some hot wings at the table and I had a burger. The wings didn't have much flavor to them with weak buffalo sauce that completely lacked bite, and even at the happy hour price of $5 per half pound, that price point isn't that great, since even Domino's delivery charges less per pound. The burger selection was a little bewildering. Almost all of the burgers had their meat cut with ground pork, and all were served on the brioche bun that I'm sure we're all sick of by now. Basically flavorless and the burger itself was the kind of small portion you'd expect from a $6 lunch place like The Dime, with a larger, more generous portion of fries.
Drinks: Good prices, decent tap selection. Drink specials (daily and happy hour) are at a great price point ($3.50 PBR cans, if you can stand PBR, but pints of Red Truck at $4.75 are a decent alternative if you can't).
Service: Damn, DAMN! Our heroic bartender was holding down the fort alone when we arrived for a good long while before more servers arrived. This was during Happy Hour, and while a large number of people were arriving for trivia. Everything got there quickly, orders were accurate, and she was nothing but helpful. Give that lady a raise!
Ambiance: The trivia crowd was great. Everyone was friendly and social, we got to meet plenty of new people who were having just as much fun as we were. The back room used for trivia was comfortable, with a ton of couches for lounging, and tables for larger groups.
Overall: 4 stars, knocked down to 3 stars due to sub-par food. Don't go here for dinner, it's not really what it's intended for. For trivia nights, karaoke, renting the back room for a company party, or just having some drinks with friends, it's a great place to go. If you are going to eat something to soak up the alcohol, the poutine's okay.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
