Tina is amazing! It was my first time ever getting acrylics and Tina was so sweet and professional. I showed her a picture of the design I wanted and she did an amazing job capturing just what I wanted.
She has great communication skills since she also kept checking back with me before moving onto the next step to make sure I was happy and satisfied throughout the process and I was!
Will definitely come back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carrie H.Rockville, MD059Apr 21, 2021

The difference between a West Coast vs. East Coast Pedicure/Manicure:
WESTSIDE NAIL SALON:
Nail Tech: Hey, how are you? Are you going with the Essie Borrowed and Blue polish with the rainbows and the unicorns drawn on this time?
Me: Oh hey, this time we have to keep it professional with the nail art I have a job interview.
Nail Tech: So basically should I draw on a different Disney Princess on each nail?
Me: Yes, but could you repeat Princess Jasmine on the pinky and big toe?
Nail Tech: No problem, it's gonna be $20.
EAST COAST NAIL SALON:
Nail Tech: Hi. PICK COLOR.
Me: I was wondering if you do nail art? I wanted a flowe...
Nail Tech: No, PICK COLOR
Me: How about an accent nail?
Nail Tech: No, YOU GONNA PICK COLOR?
Me: Glitter top coat?
Nail Tech: Gonna go with no.
Me: Do you have any type of nail art or design?
Nail Tech: I paint all your nails the same color for $40, or for $10 more I paint an exotic "French Manicure".
I am used to pretty high quality nail art and I thought I was the only one who felt this way about the area until I read this article which confirmed my East vs West Coast debate:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jin-soon-choi-nails-new-786045.
I don't know why but the suburbs of Maryland is a really hard place to find nail art. I definitely feel like if I ask around here, I get the I don't want to be bothered with complicated nail design reply. If I'm paying for a pedicure, I want it to look like an exhibit at MoMA. If I wanted to all my toes to be the same boring color, then I'd just rather sit at home on the couch, bend into uncomfortable positions while drinking beer and watching football and do them myself.
Thanks to Rae and her Instagram skills, I was referred to this place. I booked an appointment the minute I heard about it, cause my toes were looking like they could climb trees. I walked in, picked a color, showed the technician the Pinterest board I had going on, and BOOM, one hour and a half later I had hibiscus flowers on my toes and fingernails.
While I didn't book an appointment with Tram, the owner, I did get to see her do designs on other people's toes and nails. It was insane the quality of work she did given the amount of time. While my technician was awesome, I am booking her next time for more complicated art. Don't believe me? Check out her art here: http://hisupernails.tumblr.com/ and here: https://instagram.com/tramsalon/. Most of these designs are on acrylic nails but nail are can be done on natural nails as well.
Now, while I recommend this place for nail art and the the fact that it is inexpensive ($32 for a mani/pedi or $22 for a pedi), there are few things lacking in my opinion:
-Nail color collection (only a few OPI and Essie brand products) is weak, more brands like Savina were available. They also have a lot of bright colors (given the nail art) and very few darker colors (like the Gothy Lincoln Park after Dark), so bring your own if needed.
-This place is not fancy (which I don't mind), but I wonder about the cleanliness. I just don't think this place is as clean as it could be. First, when you walk in you are overwhelmed by the vapors. I actually didn't see my technician take the kit out of the autoclave, which I am sure they did, but it made me so paranoid that I actually used an antibacterial wipe on my feet when I got back in the car, just in case. I would feel a lot better if the technicians had their state licenses displayed to show some cred. I'm not saying I'm gonna catch necrotizing fascitis from here, but just in case I am keeping tetracycline handy, and next time I am watching their procedures like a hawk.
So if you are looking for good nail art, especially with Tram, come here, but I would not come here with fancy salon expectations.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - Erin M.Dumfries, VA142222Apr 12, 2018
I got a mani and pedi and my experience was great! The staff is very friendly, the salon is very clean, and a great selection of colors!
I don't get my nails done very often because I'm picky on top of working in a field where I'm using my hands in different ways daily, but I'm going wedding dress shopping this weekend and wanted to 'look the part'. I picked the 'cat eye' polish in a coffin shape and I'm glad I did! The color on my nails looks more coral then the color I picked off the sample, but it's still super cute so I love it all the same! The nail tech paid close attention to my nails, making sure they were even and checking with me frequently to make sure I was ok every step of the process.
I will be back the next time I want to get my nails done!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chantel E.Washington, DC248225296Mar 6, 2020
Went to go see Sam and he was just great! He was friendly, thorough, gentle, and did an amazing job. I didn't feel rushed at all and there was no wait. He made sure that he scheduled enough time for me and my appointment. Just an overall great experience and my nails look amazing. See his work @sam_rockvillenails on IG.

I love this place! All the people who come in and out are so friendly and sweet and it's so easy to spark a conversation with anyone! They do an awesome job and really try their best. Tram is also very lovely and remembered my mother, sister and maybe a year later! So awesome would recommend if you seek quality.
