If you like bland mediocore BBQ this is all you. I personally like spicy flavors. I am giving it a 5 star cause I support our local home town businesses.

A Vidor Classic. Some of the best ribs and meats I've ever had. The banana pudding and the dirty rice are also fire. 10/10 restaurant

Staff is so nice here and the food is great! Atmosphere is so homey and the food reminds you of your family's home cooking. Can't recommend it enough!

we are from out of state, in a hotel, so I dropped by to give it a try. please do not go by the way the building itself looks! the staff is very friendly and the food was very good! the cole slaw was absolutely the best I have eaten in a while! the ribs were good and tender too. They give you a lot of food for a good price. You must give them a try!

Family has been going here for decades, we stopped in while we were visiting the folks. Had the chipped beef sandwich, reminded me of when I was a kid and my dad would pick some up on his way home from work.

Old fashioned type place. We were pretty hungry so it was good.
      Lots of sides too.
There is a dining room in the back with hillbilly music playing.
      Wtf? It's Texas!

The sliced beef sandwich was disappointing. The BBQ sauce was not good and there was so much of it that the bread was soggy. The meat was ok but not flavorful or plentiful.
Did not like the sides. Did not like the price.

My wife, son, and I came went for lunch. It... Was.. Well.... not good (trying to be nice). We had the sliced beef plates. The meat was in what we thought was bbq sauce. It was more like gravy. It was tuff. The potatoes and gravy tasted weird. The jambalaya was bland. The lemonade tasted like soap. I had to drown my food in hot sauce in order to het it down. I wasn't going to throw it away since it cost way more than what it was worth.

Worst. Barbecue. Ever. Wow, I did not expect to be writing those words, especially given the other positive reviews here. But passing through Vidor with a colleague on our way from Orange to Austin, we found Wright's on Yelp, read the reviews and decided that it sounded good.

Yes, it's a little hole-in-the-wall kind of barbecue place, but I grew up in Texas, this is what I'm used to. I looked at the menu briefly as I came in the door, and made a snap decision to have a brisket plate. After all, the brisket is pretty much the measure of a man's barbecue, right? Although they had a variety of sides available, I chose potato salad and beans as a safe accompaniment to the brisket. My coworker ordered the barbecued chicken.

We found our way back into the dining room through a little hallway at the end of the serving counter, and sat down amidst a room full of automotive photographs, models, and memorabilia - it's clear the owner was an old car buff.

Everything went all sideways though when I took the first bite of brisket. OMG. Yuk. Roast beef, with brown gravy. I swear, no barbecue flavor at all, and that isn't barbecue sauce. Their sauce was literally like canned beef gravy from the supermarket. And I don't think they even had a smoker, I believe the brisket was baked in the oven. That was the most disconcerting brisket plate I've ever eaten. The potato salad was a little sweet like I like it, but it had kind of a slimy texture and I was afraid it was spoiled so I didn't eat it. The beans were decent, but they should have been, I think they were right out of a can.

As we left the restaurant, my coworker said to me "I'm just glad that wasn't MY money." (We were using our employer's per diem). I said "That's exactly what I thought too."

These guys have the best BBQ in town, and have been doing it for generations. They have a great selection of home-cooked side items with more options than you usually see at a BBQ joint. With a rustic country dining area and fast, friendly service, it feels like this place has been unspoiled by time. If you're in a hurry, there's a drive-through too.
