We did the Sunset Dolphin Watch yesterday evening and it was great. The Boat Captain and Deckhand were both very knowledgeable and informative. You can tell they have done this a long time and enjoy it.
The kids learned a lot about sea life and the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 26, 2020
Woodys has been around for decades! This is not the original. It was blown away in 1960 by a hurricane that reshaped this entire island. Every few years a hurricane does some damage to Port Aransas slowly reshaping the businesses and topography but, never the culture. The vibe of boating and fishing is still alive and well at Woody's. One of the go toos for docking and fueling your boat, buying gear, hiring a guide, and everything in between. Pay them a visit, They need the business during the crisis.

Woodys sports center booking with Neptune charters.
Wish I could review the cruise but I can not. This review will be about their greedy practices for canceling on their customer but refusing to accept a cancellation from their customers.
We had a 12 pm booking with them. They texted us at 9am the day of the appointment stating they had to cancel our appointment (no reason give) we made over a month ago. We reluctantly accepted a later 7pm appointment but unfortunately our daughter got sick at 6pm and unable to make the trip. so we showed up to their location to cancel but they refused to refund us. They told us refunds are only given if they canceled on us. They never offered us a refund option, they only gave us different times to pick from. The attend at the tick booth was very rude and non apologetic. I will never use this concessioner and make sure my company or any of my colleagues visit this township again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tara B.Austin, TX582150Jun 30, 2021
We have been going to the dolphin tours here for like 7 years! It is absolutely the best! The guys that run it are so good and create such a memorable experience! They even drop a net and bring in fish and stuff for the kids to touch! Worth the money!

We did the 4 hour fishing tour ... fishing around the jetty and bay area. Abby and Peyton were super nice and efficient. They did all they could to make the trip enjoyable and they wanted to make sure we caught something. When we come back we'll ask for them and the Island Princess II

Because Port A is becoming an annual event we decided to do a little more than the beach. We visited several "Dolphin Tour" places and Woody's was by far the most friendly and informative.
We booked our tour and the following day boarded the boat. It was a great little adventure with a live tank that held some of the "catch" after a little net fishing. The captain told stories about the light house, the ship channel, and the wildlife in the area. We did see dolphins but not as many as we had anticipated but that's not the fault of the tour, the Dolphins were being....well, Dolphins.
This was a really fun little adventure for us and an opportunity to explore the port more than we ever had before. Fun fact: the lighthouse is owned by the HEB family and has been restored. I would love to stay there...maybe.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dan A.Canyon Lake, CA111Jun 20, 2020
Review Based on my 9 year old:
It was awesome! One of the Experiences I will always remember. We saw a ton of dolphins. And beautiful views of Port a. They had a tank on the boat and filled the net up with all kinds of sea animals that we got to hold straight out of the gulf. I held a stingray, puffer fish, butterfly ray and baby squid.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brette W.Frisco, TX034Aug 10, 2021
Tour guide was great until the end- I have to give it one star because it turned into literal animal cruelty. Catch and release is one thing but the touch tank was something else. He butchered two stingrays on the counter and removed its stinger in front of the kids, which ensures its death once released. Two of the fish died near immediately from being squeezed to death and the rest looked motionless and on the verge of death by the end of the tour. The touch tank was left entirely unsupervised and it was very cruel. This place does not practice humane catch and release at all.

I was looking for something fun and different to do with my husband, teenaged daughter and her friend. My daughter and I took some Dramamine each, but I really think it wasn't necessary at all. The ship's captain was very easy going, taking to the water at a nice chill pace. I felt that the playlist he had going was perfect to set the mood to enjoy the ocean breeze and sight-seeing at a leisurely pace. We saw lots of dolphins, and the family crew had the tour structured into different areas to see, including a 19th century lighthouse, and a while where they dragged sone shrimp nets and made a little nature show in which the son of the family gave a lot of information about each of the animals they caught and let kids touch them before releasing them into a salt water bath for us all to observe. I'd definitely recommend!
