Whole foods did contact me and apologized. Said they would investigate and refund the hot food purchases.
Said they would refund the purchase, dont think that happened though.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 11, 2023Previous reviewI usually like their hot food bar. Specifically the one on P Street. The Foggy bottom hot food bar wasn't good at all. I paid about 28 dollars for it, ended up tossing half of it away at home. Some of the items had a turned taste. They charge so much, for the cost, Whole Foods should not let it sit there all day, and sell old food. They can refresh it or just remove the rock hard dried out BBQ tofu, and remove the trays with just some gooey scrapings. Their food bar staff hovered around the buffet, and when I asked if they refresh food, the lady said, when i get to it defensively. Its not a school cafeteria. Its expensive I wanted to just drop the plastic container and head over to PF Changs. I understand, they don't want u to nibble, but I not going to walk or drive back there after an hour to complain. Just won't ever go to that location anymore, or any for that matter. After tasting their horrible food I though about all the other options I could have for the 28 bucks I gave Horrible Foods. From now on, that's what Im gonna call the place. Horrible Foods...

In response to your desire to follow up my review - you have the date, the time, two employees (the self-check out assistant, cheese bar attendant) involved besides the team building busting yelling manager.
iI you are truly interested - follow- up in house after reading other customer treatment reviews. Foggy Bottom has the lowest metro area Whole Foods rating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Mar 11, 2024Previous reviewThis afternoon at 2:39 pm while self-checking out - the Mitca parmesan cheese advertised on Sale at 28% off for Prime, 20% non-prime discount rang up full price. I removed it from my cart, which meant I had to wait for an assistant to proceed. I explained why I had removed the item, she told me their sales are just for Prime members, which has never been true.
After checking out as I was leaving she walked up to me with a manager she'd called. He YELLED at me "this is not on sale!!!" I was shocked at being screamed at. I told him there was a sign over the cheese saying it was on sale. He yelled, "There is not." I told him I'd show him. I showed him the sign. He yelled at me, "This sale is over." He screamed repeatedly at the cheese counter attendant from across the store (the cheese was being displayed by the tomatoes). I left rather than allow him to humiliate the man in front of me. Whole Foods is across from the GW cancer center. It is where patient, medical technicians, nurses, doctors and administrative staff buy food during their quick breaks from jobs that are hard and often sad. We and they do not need the added assault of an arrogant, unkind manager in a place where we seek peace and nourishment. - Sep 21, 2023
Convenient located near my hotel, I came here for some dinner (general preference over restaurants even when I am travelling on business). Surpisingly the packaged sushi was decent, more than the hot/ cold bar. Prepared pineapple was sweet. Quality of stuff needs to be checked carefully as I was about to purchase some cubed cheese that appeared moldy. Actually half the stock seems to need replacing. Thankfully a cheese monger actually cutting the same cheese went to the back and gave me a new container. Hopefully it will last.

This one is not typical. The first floor is kinda food court. But there's a -1 floor which is a market. Also, up and down escalators are in opposite sides of the store. Not sure about the service, as I used the self-service cashiers.

This is a clean Whole Foods store. However, its customer service was alright. The cashier that rang me up was good, but the deli and coffee staffers were preoccupied and appeared to be bothered by shoppers like me.

Yesterday morning, I went to get breakfast from the hot bar. The person supervising let me know that self checkout was available. I clearly communicated that I did not wish to use the self checkout (my exact words were "I do not want to use self checkout"). In response to me clearly communicating my wishes, his response was to walk me over and show me how to use it. Last week, after refusing to use self checkout, I walked over to the register and placed my item on the counter. The cashier got huffy because I made her do her actual job, instead of standing around and supervising the self checkouts. I've had other bad experiences as well. Last year, I ordered an unsweetened hot chocolate (plain cocoa powder + milk). If the barrista had informed me they didn't have unsweetened cocoa powder, it would have been fine. Instead, he just processed my order, accepted my payment, and then gave me one with sugar, even after I explicitly told him, "no sugar." When I noticed it was really sweet, his excuse was that he just gave me the one with sugar because the one without sugar was unavailable - in other words, it wasn't just a simple mistake, he apparently assumed it wouldn't be necessary to ask if it's okay to give me something else instead. When I said "I don't want this" he just responded with a flat tone and an apathetic countenance "okay, then go up front and get a refund." The last thing I'll mention in my rant is that the hot bar used to have really good food, great variety, and a regular rotation, now it's just the same mediocre food pretty much every day (I'm only there about once a week, but I'm assuming that's the case).

This is one of the nicest Whole Foods I have been to, unfortunately the service was the worst I've ever had. I only went to the first floor because I was craving something sweet from the bakery around 7 PM at night on a Monday. Most of the popular bakery items were out of stock (i.e. berry chantily cake and tiramisu) at this time of night but other items like cookies, macarons and cheesecakes were still available. I grabbed a Berry Chantily cupcake and it was the worst I've had. Not sure if each Whole Foods make them differently but the frosting on this cupcake tasted like butter and sugar and not like the usual frosting from the Whole Foods back home.
Looking around I could see that the store was well stocked and had a lot of options. It even had different stations for food options such as sushi, pizza, sandwiches. For a Whole Foods, this was one of the best ones I have seen and really catered to the population of students. However, I would not frequent back because the service was terrible. A self-checkout machine was broken and looked like someone scanned two items and left. One of the cashiers came by to fix this machine and kept grilling the person checking out at the next machine if he had used the machine and broke it. The person was visibly uncomfortable, but the cashier kept asking questions. The cashier that checked my item out was also unfriendly and off-putting. I greeted with "hello, how are you?" and she just glared at me like I just insulted her. This is uncommon for any Whole Foods I have been to.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Paul V.Washington, DC090Dec 7, 2023
Ordered 2 items online for pickup. I had to wait in line for almost 30 minutes to get my items from customer service. SLOW SLOW SLOW. This Whole Foods is a cluster for so many reasons. The customer service is almost as bad as the Georgetown Safeway. In addition, parking is I'm possible. To make matters worse, when I arrived home, I noticed the eggs I bought had an expiration date of Nov 24.

I have been coming to this place for literally years and I still can't get enough of it. There are many things that I love about this store. Here are some examples. The salad bar, the hot bar, and the enormous amount of produce that they carry. Even though the hot bar is wildly expensive it still has an incredible selection. I came here this evening hoping to get some of that but but unfortunately I just missed it because the close at 8pm. Instead I decided to go for the spinach feta orzo pasta salad that is already prepared. I had actually tries this dish before and it is quite delicious. The next thing that I picked up a 52 ounce container of Uncle Matt's organic orange juice. I try to get this orange juice every time that I come here. Finally I set out on my desperate search for Cherimoya which is an exotic fruit from South America. They actually sold this fruit here several years ago, and I have been hoping and praying that it would reappear. I asked an employee who was working on the produce department and he had never heard of it either. Nevertheless it's a great store and I will always come back here.
