One of my resolutions for the new year was to eat ethically as often as I could and Whole Foods in Providence has helped me maintain that goal. While the average supermarket is becoming a place where it's easy to pick up organic/locally grown produce it's still a struggle to find meats that are comparably sourced. If the farmer's market has a limited supply of meat or I just can't get to one during the small timeframe they're open, I know I can go to Whole Foods and purchase, poultry, beef, and seafood that sourced using basic decency and common sense.
Yes, Whole Foods is a chain. Yes, they're overpriced on a lot of items and the "whole paycheck" joke isn't without it's truth. Yes, parking is miserable on weekends and the aisles can get congested so badly sometimes they'll make you want to run out of the store screaming. Is it worth it? Absolutely- the food is delicious, the store is usually filled with attractive, intelligent clientele (and staff), and the products they sell are great. If you can't make it to a farmer's market, Whole Foods is worth the money and the accompanying struggle.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 5, 20241 check-in
This location is spacious and clean with a large prepared food section and plenty of seating. They make cakes, pizza, and sushi to order, as well as a hot food station. Affordable prices and a good selection of grocery items.

Sep 23, 2021Previous reviewGreat spot to shop when I'm in RI. I love the fresh mozzarella. But this time around, I added some roasted tomatoes. I did a whole lot of shopping, I think almost $400 worth. They didn't have the regular couscous i wanted. An elderly gentleman was working in the frozen department. When I asked him for help, he walked with me to every isle and helped me pick what I wanted. The only thing is I forgot to ask for his name. But he needs some commendation. He was working during the night. The freshly cut fruits were yummy.

This review is solely for their carrot cake, and it is absolutely fantastic! This is the best carrot cake ever. I love the frosting is not simple sugary grocery store buttercream, it is almost cheesecake type of cream. It is more flavorful and better texture than simple buttercream. The cake itself is also scrumptious, it has a lot of nuts and carrots, even without the frosting it is still very delicious. I suggest you next time when you go to Whole Foods, pick up a carrot cake.

My last visit to Whole Foods was to return an Amazon item that I had purchased. I used to drop it off at the UPS store, but this time I decided to go to Whole Foods.
When I walked in, I was wondering where would customer service for returns be...when I saw a big sign saying Amazon Returns....I walked over and I saw this large computer screen and large light brown bins next to it.
I started by following the Touch Screen instructions and it methodically took me through the return process step by step....it was so easy, it was painless....it was quick. I was very happy with the experience and I would be using this Amazon return option every time in the future....
On my way out, I noticed their varied coffee machines and cookies....they do make customers want to buy their products, the way the market their food choices (in a very tempting and attractive way) is top notch....
Several fresh flowers also caught my eye on the way out...beautiful orchids and potted flower plants..Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

We appreciate your wonderful feedback, Robert. We hope to welcome you again!
May 27, 2019Previous reviewWhole Foods got acquired by Amazon a few years ago, that has prompted for the store to be a bit more aggressive to reach a wider market. Now you can get really good produce (organic or not) at prices that are very competitive or even cheaper than other grocery stores.
Their customer service is aways top notch and the quality of their products, including their 365 Private Label brand items are excellent. You can find many environmentally friendly cleaners at Whole Foods, which is great for those looking to minimize strong smells and environmental impact.
Lots of parking and nice seasonal events that you can find on their website.Oct 25, 2013Previous reviewGreat variety of top quality products: Produce, seafood, meats, canned good, frozen items, etc.
Their 365 private label has been known to provide similar quality to national brands at a reduced price.
Their salad bar, fresh food and dessert bar are outstanding. They have specials like Baker's Dozen for desserts on mini cakes ...YUM !!
You get a discount if you bring your own bag and they take coupons.
A bit on the expensive side, but very good quality. - Andrew S.Providence, RI9323128Sep 30, 2023Updated review
Ice cold pizza.. what's the point? Bland, tasteless, cold pizza while the boss is eating nice tasty pizza in the Mediterranean. Pizza station should have a heat up the slice function as the so called heating trays are Lukewarm at best. Management replied to this review, claimed to discuss with staff about the issue. Upon next visit, nothing changed, still cold warming station. I'd like to know what management recommends besides not eating the cold pizza?

Oct 30, 2021Previous reviewThey can fly in space but they can't get you through the registers in less than 8 minutes..
Feb 7, 2016Previous reviewRip off "Whole Paycheck", $.50 for a lime at Whole Foods. Sounds ok? Till you find 8 for two dollars at the market in Central Falls. 8 for a Dollar at Fresh World in Va. Etc.
Today my salad, with lettuces, beans, chick peas, eggplant, peppers, carrots, corn, 1 little piece of chicken, dressing = almost $12.00, Good salad but pricey for self serve.
Somewhat equivalent salad at Sweet Green, 10.50..10.75 maybe
Oh, forgot to tell you, No "Sweet Green" here in RI, Yes in many other places.. - M A.Brooklyn, NY22491363Aug 1, 2022
We booked our florist with Kalen at the Whole Foods, 601 N Main St, Providence, RI 02904. It was an absolute pleasure working with Kalen! She is the florist specialist there. She is such a kind, understanding, professional and talented woman! Her gorgeous floral arrangements exceeded my expectations! They were a dream come true! Despite the heat, the flowers lasted all day and she even provided us with vases to keep our bouquets fresh. I was able to take my bouquet home to New York!
I loved every single arrangement! I truly loved my bouquet and she was able to wrap my grandmother's rosary beads around them along with her photo charm and my other photo charms of my grandparents. She knew exactly how important my grandmother's rosary beads meant to me and wrapped them around my bouquet with care.
Everything was so elegant and precious! I loved how she decorated the mantels, memorial table, and cake. I loved how Kalen and her team created the center pieces, bouquets, and boutonnières. It seemed like I was in a dream! I can't thank Kalen and Whole Foods enough for their outstanding work and they were very reasonable with their price!
You won't regret booking with them!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The "security guard" is constantly taking nuts out of the dispensers and eating them LOL like on multiple occasions I've noticed this happening. I just came here to say that.

Since my last review was unnecessarily deleted. I would like to remind patrons that this grossly understaffed and understocked store has workers that will become confrontational with you. There are frequently fights in the parking lot and security that is on site does not intervene.
It is unsafe, understaffed with rude staff btw, extremely packed, low to no stock (like it's always the end of the world in there) and if you say it you could get a review removed!

The three things I bought at the food bar were just gross. They look appealing? And then when you get them home, you question your sanity. Artichoke and grilled asparagus salad sounds good? Not. Samosas and fried rice? Not. Even the Caesar salad sucked big tine. The store was packed and unpleasant. Ugh. No clue where to shop anymore for quality food. Not both Providence stores for sure!!! Ugh.

Usually a good experience here. I typically come for their high end baked goods and meats. But today was a struggle at the deli counter. I asked for "one third of a pound". Young man acknowledged it and proceeded to slice and package 0.78 lbs of turkey. I pointed out that was not a third. He didn't understand at all. Became clear
That fractions were totally meaningless. I helped him out by saying a third is a
Little less than half of what he just sliced. He put the turkey aside and went to work slicing more. Returned with 0.58lb. I said good enough and went on my way.
Come on folks. Basic stuff. Maybe $15/hr is not always appropriate?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
