Whittlesea Checker Taxi

This has reopened under a new name, but the telephone number is still the same. Brand new SUV vehicle and a service-oriented driver. This is the only cab company you want to use. I've used them all for 6 years and this new service is heads and shoulders above the competition.

Pretty unreliable, scheduled an early ride and they never showed up for the scheduled time. Called and they kept saying they were looking for a driver. The entire system is automated so you really have no idea if you're getting someone or not. There is also nothing keeping them from overbooking. Ended up having to drive and spent a bit more than expected on long term parking. Would have been really bad if we didn't have a backup plan. Not worth the hassle, stay away if you can. It's pretty clear why Uber and Lyft are successful when this is the competition.

We called the day before to schedule a ride to the airport for our family of 5. We booked a taxi via an automated service when we called the Whittlesea number. Just to confirm, we managed to call back and get someone on the phone. They assured us our taxi was reserved and someone would be at our house. Well, they never showed up. We waited 10 minutes later than our requested ride and ended up having to drive to the airport. If 0 stars was an option then that would be my choice. My advice to the company - don't confirm a booking if you are unable to honor it. My advice to other people needing a ride - don't depend on Whittlesea.

I ordered a cab from my apartment to the airport a few weeks ago, It was scheduled and confirmed as a 4:15 am pick up. By 4:20 I got concerned, called and no one answered. Automated message said my cab was on the way. At 4:30 I took my car and ended up paying over $70 for parking fees and almost missed my flight. This company is awful
Never even received a call from them explaining their failure.

I wanted to take a taxi versus one of the other independent contractors. I called the day before my flight and booked a 3:30 am taxi. It said all was well. When 3:30 rolled around, no taxi. I called and could only get an automated response. I ordered another taxi but when I called back the automated response said that they were looking for a driver. Alas, a friend had to drive me to the airport as an emergency since I had to make my flight. Sadly, I will not call this taxi company again.

I called earlier this morning and talked to a young lady who booked my appointment for 12:45. At 1:00 p.m. I called to check the status of my ride and they said they'd never heard of me. I will never use your service ever again. I had to reschedule an appointment because of this. Ms. Ford

I had used this company a dozen times in the past with no problem. However, this time when I called the night before to ask for a ride at 4:10am next day, I got a computer response, and I went to bed thinking everything is set. In the morning though there was no cab, and when I called I got the computer voice again, saying they're looking for a driver. I foolishly believed that, but after more waiting, at 4:30am, we cancelled the cab ride and took our car when snow had been predicted daily, and the security check line was unusually long, making us extra nervous.
I think the problem is the computer handling all calls. If a live dispatcher had told me he/she is having a hard time locating an available driver, I'd have made the decision earlier to try something else. I'd rather use a taxi service than Uber etc., but next time I'm calling a different taxi company.

Worst customer service I have ever encountered!!! If I could give them zero stars, I would!!!

I tried to schedule a wheelchair van however when I called their phone number all I got was their automated system. I used it to try to schedule a ride however I can not get any confirmation that it was actually scheduled or that it was for the needed wheelchair accessible van. I tried calling their customer service number to confirm the ride however all I get is music and then their system hangs up on me.

I'm now trying to cancel the ride as it is no longer needed but again there is no option on their automated system to cancel a scheduled ride or make a change or talk to a person.

Their website has no customer service options. I even downloaded their app and tried using it. However even it doesn't work--you cannot get signed up.

Do not use this cab company. We feared for our life on our ride to the airport early one morning. The driver showed up 20 minutes late and drove like a bat out of hell to the airport. If you need a cab in the Reno/Sparks area, definitely do not use this company.

TAXIS RULE.

In the age of inflated Uber prices and SLOW response times.

REMEMBER!! Taxis are the original Uber.
