Whissel's Stop

Whissel's Stop is sort of an oddity. It is situated on 120 between Ridgway and Saint Marys. They serve all sorts of fast food style meals and ice cream. It reminds me very much of the old 1960s, 1970s style hang out for people with classic cars. Anyway the food is mostly deep fried or grilled. Portions are pretty generous and quality isn't bad. Seating is outdoor only, so if there is a chance of rain you may want to look someplace else. Service is friendly. Service is a little on the slow side, but you can tell everything is cooked (or fried) fresh when you order it.

Whissel's isn't a bad place to stop for a bite. I would recommend you stop by if you are passing through and looking for a burger, a hotdog, or a bowl of ice cream. That being said, I don't think I would go too far out of my way to visit, but I would definitely eat here again.

I really loved this place growing up. I just tried it recently since it was under new management and I was over all pleased. It took some time to get my food but it was all cooked to order which is understandable. Quality was decent for the price. Service was friendly. This is one of those places that you pull up to and when you walk up to the counter to order it's like stepping back in time 20 years. Not Necc a bad thing but the menu was kind of run of the mill which is the only reason why I didn't add another star. Minus the lack of more original or homemade cuisine, the overall experience was a good one. It's a nice place to bring young kids and they won't beat you up on price. I hope this place sticks around. It's left over old school Americana. Need more of that!
