Hi! Is Whispers offering outdoor dining?

Q:
Do they have gluten free options?
A:
Yes, there are salads and dinner entrees labeled as gluten free on the menu. They also have a ton of egg based dishes which *should* be gluten free as long as you are clear about holding the bread. (Best to ask to be sure)

This place is super cute! I loved the decor and all of the staff was as friendly as could be!
I came here with my brother after a hasty lunch, so we split a Whisper Crepe (strawberries, bananas, nutella, whipped cream, AND french vanilla ice cream). It was super good, although it was hard to keep everything together in one bite. :P
I also had a strawberry margarita, which is on their secret menu. They have margaritas, but don't advertise strawberry or mango options, which I heard them discussing after I left. My brother just got a regular coffee and we had a great time.
Their happy hour is 3-6pm, I believe and we just made it at 3:15pm. I was so happy to get a margarita for $3 (or was it $4?)!
Overall, I will definitely come back here if I'm visiting San Mateo and looking for a yummy snack!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 35178533Aug 17, 2023
Use to frequent here very often when we lived in Belmont. Their crepe, in my mind, has better taste combination than their competitor in downtown Burlingame.
Most of their dishes are great here. My go-to is the alcatraze crepe. Super yum. Their salad dressing is very tart and I never grew to like it ( I always ordered my salad without dressing here). Their side potatoes are my daughter's favorite. Their popcorn shrimp is pretty good and one of the few restaurant food that my kids eat... Americano here is pretty good and their smoothies are pretty nice.
Food is ordered at counter and you can choose to sit inside/outdoor. Tips are paid when you order the food. Their service is mostly good. During COVID, it was very inconsistent. There were a few times that their service was subpar and we ended it up stop going for a while. Now things have reopened, we tried a couple of times. Services were relatively good both times.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2789596Sep 4, 2022
We discovered this breakfast place ever since we had dogs. We love their patio setting. A lot of space for our dog babies.
They made a lot of efforts putting nice plants around the patio making this parking lot location actually enjoyable.
Food wise, highly recommend Alcatraz Crepe. It's my go-to here. Generous amount of shrimps well cooked with mushrooms and cheese in it. Really good! Actually it's sooooo good that I almost never ordered anything else ever since I started having this.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 11, 2023
The food is always good here and tasty. The portions are a nice size too. I love the potatoes because they have that fried crunch without being oily or greasy. The quality is always fresh and really good. Their wheat bread is also really good, and I always forget to ask where they get their supply from. The only negatives that I have to say is that the food isn't always hot enough for me and it's a little pricey. It was about $42 after tax and tip for a Belgian waffle and a sunrise plate with bacon. But I guess we are in the bay and everything is expensive. Also, I wish they had lingonberry butter for their crepes.

This cafe and Creperie catches my eye every time i drive down El Camino in Belmont. Finally we ordered take out to try them out for brunch. Plenty of parking in the shopping area. Service is friendly and pick was just on time. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. Indoor appears very clean. Outdoor dining would be nice on a clear day. We ordered the savory vegetarian Monterey crepe with house potatoes and sweet fruit crepe. The vegetarian was a flavorful combo of cheese, veggies and avocado. The fruit crepe was just the right sweetness and crunch from the granola topping with berries and whip. We just wished the portion size was a bit larger in size. Overall a nice brunch meal.

One of our favorite brunch places in Belmont.
Food order and payment is done at the front desk and then you're seated, with your food arriving shortly.
Must try: Whispers Sweet Crepe!
Our favorites:
1. Eggs Benerdict ($16)- Poached eggs with ham.
2. Huevos Rancheros ($17)- Two eggs on cheese-filled corn tortillas topped with red chili sauce. Served with black beans, avocado, salsa, sour cream and potatoes.
3. Sweet Crepe ($12)- Strawberries, bananas, nutella chocolate, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
Their food is always fresh, huge portion sizes and delicious!
Coffee and Mimosas are great too!
Ample parking outside since it's located in a shopping centre. Although, the area is usually busy.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Matthew D.San Jose, CA25445Oct 22, 2022
I really liked the crepes. Didn't try anything that would be normal "breakfast food", so I cannot rate on that, but the crepe was really nice. I got the ala Jack, and they filled it UP. It was surprisingly filling despite the smallish size, and I was satisfied. I had the option of fries, house potatoes, fruit, or salad. Personally, the fries and potatoes were kinda mid, and I would recommend getting the fruit or salad.
The crepe was also a bit small in relation to the price ( $18.99!)
They also have an item named "one scrambled egg". Unfortunately I am not 12 or under, but I would have loved to try "one scrambled egg"Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Cay A.Burlingame, CA45302432May 19, 2023Updated review
Very efficient. You order & pay then food gets delivered to your table. Place is comfortable with booths and outdoor seating. Im sure their crepes are yummy. Parking is easy.

Just happy to finally find a place that offers nutella with a savory option on the side.
They overcookes my scrambled eggs unfortunately but my overall experience was ok. - 116362402May 10, 2023
So here's the deal. My family enjoys the food at Whispers, and in fact, it used to be our go-to place after the kids had some sort of appointment - this was all fine and good. They have a lovely diverse brunch menu, indoor and outdoor seating, and pleasant staff. Coffee isn't bad either! But ever since reopening after the pandemic, THE BATHROOMS ARE ALWAYS LOCKED. They say that they are locked because "someone is in there" but STATISTICS PROVE that this just can't be the case every single time I am there. I have eaten often in establishments with only a single unisex bathroom (B St. & Vine, for example) and it just isn't hard to get in to pee. Seriously, you are serving coffee and trying to eat leisurely, and if you need to pee and can't, it ruins the rest of breakfast. I cannot fathom why the bathrooms (yes, two!) would be locked so consistently. FYI, in CA, restaurants do not have to provide public restrooms but they must alert customers to this fact with prominent signage. Now I realize, since all bathrooms must be ADA accessible, and perhaps these two are not (though they are pretty big), and people are filing lawsuits against restaurants that do not have ADA compliant bathrooms, perhaps Whispers has decided to keep them closed. Fair. But then you must post signage and let the people decide whether to eat there or not. Peeing is serious business. I won't be returning. Ever. So sad. I love the nutella crepes with strawberries.

Cute lil neighborhood breakfast spot with pretty good crepes.
Nice outdoor dining area but the heaters are not turned on even though my toddler and I were practically freezing in the wind.
Would I recommend this place, yes probably..because Belmont area doesn't have many interesting breakfast places. But if you're willing to travel a lil to San Carlos or Millbrae, the House of Pancakes at Millbrae or Stacks at San Carlos are certainly wayyy better!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karina W.Belmont, CA2283931Sep 15, 2023
Loved this place, my go-to brunch spot on the weekends, especially when visitors are in town or we are getting a group of people together. Casual setting, great for families or large groups (you order & pay at the front before you take your number & go to your table). They had a large menu covering various breakfast items and sandwiches. Was shocked to find this location has been permanently closed! Had just visited a week prior with my parents, and everything seemed totally normal. Super bummed!!!!
