This is in regards to Wheaton Center Commuter Parking. Paid for my parking yesterday and got off the train after work to find my car gone. I have a paid receipt and am going to make this well known to everybody I know that they are towing cars even if you have paid for your parking. This is pure evil! Will never park here again and will be telling everybody I know not to park their either. Will be notifying police and newspaper.

Update: Checked my checking account and the charge for yesterday's parking was not submitted to my account until last night (2/14/17) at 11:23 pm!!!! I paid at 7:13 am so there machines were malfunctioning which is why so many people's cars were towed even though they paid!!!!! This is UNACCEPTABLE to leave people stranded and having to figure out how to go get their cars from Redmon's Towing in Schaumburg, IL!!!! Total inconvenience and it will never happen again because I will NEVER park here and am going to pursue every avenue available to me to make it well known they tow cars even if you have paid!

Update #2: Message from Wheaton Center on Facebook: "Please e-mail WheatonMgr@dklivingapts.com if you were affected by the system glitch that resulted in paying parkers being towed. We will work to make it right!"

They tow authorized and unauthorized vehicles!!!! Even if you have paid!!!!!!! DO NOT PARK HERE!!!!!!

The new management is a lesson in anyone can get a job. Communication is subpar at best.
I've had my patio furniture in my living room for 2 1/2 weeks waiting for the deck to be painted. They havent event started on my building yet. Timing of the email could have been improved upon. The new water saving toilets are a joke. If renew is saving on their water bill, where is my savings? In their pocket .
I signed my lease weeks if not months ago. I'm informed now that I'm month to month due to a missing signature of a child. Why wouldnt they send a reminder email?

Wheaton's finest apartment complex. Between the "lofty warehouse chic" ceilings of building 4's first floor gifted to us residents for a month now by the talented local plumbers of 60187. Our carpets are cleaned by the thoughtful company that comes every 2 weeks or so at 7am.. since they all seem to know we residents all work 9-5. The thin walls that allow you to hear every single paint stroke, hammer bang, and fart of the construction crew jamming out for the next 2 weeks from 8am-6pm conveniently located in the unit above mine... Don't worry friends the whole complex has thin walls, and residents that come and go with many more renovation dates in sight you'll get a turn to love your time here at Wheaton Center! Dear new neighbor I hope you enjoy your apartment view of the parking lot as much as I. I'll be hearing you soon.
      Sincerely,
Your annoyed AF, sleep deprived millennial neighbor

The layout is nice. The views spectacular. Not enough parking. No outlets on the balconies. The bedroom closets and bathrooms are small.

New toilets and faucet aerators were just replace last week. We can now enjoy the pleasure of hearing neighbors flushing the toilets. Sometimes twice, if you know what I mean. With the new aerators you now have to run the water longer to just rinse the toothpaste from your toothbrush and sink. Is this saving? We'll see.

I have to say, I love where I live. The location is what I needed for work and school and the easy access to the train and the expressway was key. What really sold me most of all though was the balcony and the view from the towers. You seriously can't beat it, it's absolutely beautiful!

The staff has always been friendly, the maintenance guys here are just the best! Mike and Jason have just been the sweetest guys on the planet!
The amenities here are really nice too. Love the pool and the gym! Honestly, I just loved this place so much that I renewed my lease for a second year.

The two biggest downfalls here though are the price and the parking.

1- the price changes from being beyond unaffordable to totally affordable week by week. It's literally insane how much a unit can vary each and every day and also depending on the season. I was so lucky I moved in during the fall when prices were lower, but when it came to renewing my lease they wanted to increase it by a couple hundred dollars for another 12 months!! And I have the lowest grade unit to, so I thought that was just insane. I was also given an option for 13 months for a much smaller increase so I took the 13 months. My guess is they did that on purpose and will continue to that each year until my lease becomes up in the spring time when they can raise the prices higher. So play the game well and know that if you move in during the summer you're paying hundreds of dollars more then those who moved in during the fall and winter.

2- the parking situation is kind of ridiculous. There is not enough parking in the lot so if you aren't home by a certain time you'll have to park in the commuter lot at the train station. Which is cool that it's free for us between certain times, but if you're there outside of those times you get towed. I chose to buy a commuter parking sticker for $30 a month so that I can keep my car there all the time without having to remember when to move it to not get towed. It was much cheaper then buying a parking pass in the garages attached to the buildings. Those cost between $60-90 a month, which was just not in my budget. I think it's a little steep of a price to ask for when there isn't nearly enough parking for the residents to begin with.

The only other thing I would say is that the walls between the units are really thin. I can hear my neighbors talking and watching TV (and I'm sure they can all hear me too) but unless anyone turns up the volume real loud or has a sound system on it's pretty manageable. We all try to be respectful of each other and everyone has been really nice about it. But that's just how it goes when you're living in a community.

Also, since heat rises, the upper levels in the towers tend to run a bit warm in the summer. The thermostat was placed right by the vent and right by the patio door, which was dumb, because it never reads the accurate temperature so I tend to have to blast the AC at the coldest temp it can go all summer long. And on the super hot days I sometimes still need a fan.
The plus side is in the winter I almost never have to put my heat on because the heat from all the other units rises up and warms mine. But I do need a humidify as it gets soooooo dry in here.

All in all it's a pretty decent place to live! It has its issues just like anywhere else, but I'm hoping with the new management team they will be able to improve things even more :)

I do highly recommended living here :)

Avoid this place if you can.

      - Rent is up 25% every year, prepare for it.
      - Central AC is always broke down. I am writing this review when it was 99 F outside and their AC conveniently broke down again.
      - Free parking is pretty much non-existent so you have to pay for garage parking to guarantee a spot.
      - They advertise as luxury apartment but all of their material is subpar quality.

Wheaton Center is a nice place to call home, but it comes at a price. Rent is significantly higher than what can be expected, but to be fair they offer several amenities to "compensate" the price (if you utilize them to their fullest extent). However, maintenance and "improvement projects" are routine and interfere with your everyday life on a recurring basis. Example, our washroom had to be serviced numerous times throughout the year because of internal water leakage.

If you decide to live at Wheaton Center please make sure you document every imperfection of your unit on day one. When we moved in we noticed a dent on the dishwasher and a stain on the living room carpet. In addition, my car had a ding on the driver's side door within the first month. After this unfortunate situation we decided to purchase a parking garage spot from Wheaton Center (which is an upcharge for the remainder of your lease).

FYI - please be advised there are more vehicles than parking spots in the standard lots. So if you arrive home after 9pm expect a frustrating evening, although the keyless entry system implemented site wide was a beneficial feature.

A security deposit is not required when you move in, but when you decide to leave get ready to pay fees. The carpet has a "shelf life" of 5 years, but please plan for the worst because you'll probably pay for it. If you want to have a rational conversation about the expenses due at your departure forget about it. Nothing you say or do will have any merit with management, just write the check, remain frustrated about the entire situation, and write a Yelp review about your experience to educate others.

Paid for parking in the commuter garage, with receipt in hand. Only to come back to my car being towed. A $1.50 mistake when I
put 264 instead of 294 cost me 172.50. The towing companu is all the way in Schaumburg and although inconvient, the clerk was nice.

Approaching Wheaton Center, presenting my receipt for parking and my tow slip, I was told to go pound sand in nicer words. There was no warning placed on my car, no shot across the bow nor any other courtesy offered. Just a nice 172 dollar deduction from the mouths of my family and pocketbook. I would suggest that they add a gate or telephone payments so that this does not happen to any one else.

I had just moved here from Northern Virginia and I was accosted to at least a warning, but instead I got a grand mid western f-you instead.

      Updated review

This place is a wreck. In trying to sign a lease, a ditz in the leasing office had no clue about sending a lease online. After many attempts, I went over her head and finally got results. Then, after finally a signing lease, this ditz failed to record me in the system, so I again had to go over her head to get basic access to the bike storage room and other access points.

My fiancé then signed on to the lease, and again this ditz made it extremely difficult, including losing driver's license information, then asked for it again, then it was given to another employee, and yet she asked for it yet again.

Parking sucks, especially if you work second shifts. No spots are available after 9 pm and you then have to park in a garage that you have to be out of by 7 am. Oh, you can pay to park in their private garages, but $100 a month in the suburbs? Outrageous.

Then they finally turn on the AC and it leaks big time, and they have to tear up carpet and repaint.

      Avoid this shithole.

Oh, and now they are turning off the water and AC to make repairs. I have resorted to calling this shithole the Tower of Terrors. Avoid like the plague!

I feel like the poor reviews I'm reading are a bit harsh, or maybe Wheaton Center has changed drastically in the last couple of years. We have lived here for almost a year and we love it! Amenities are awesome, management and maintenance rock - know me by name, always going out of their way to hold the door, jump my car, or even help carry up groceries. They've made living here such a great experience. Other residents are so friendly and welcoming.
Complaints? A few. There's a sauna in the gym, but it doesn't work. We've heard rumors of a dog bath being installed, but haven't seen that. The dog park is fun for dogs to play together, but it gets really muddy and it's not well lit. Parking is a little confusing, but we've never been towed.
      Overall, highly recommend.
