I don't understand the terrible reviews for this place. We have been here dozens of times and the food has always been decent, service good and on a nice day a great place to chill.
The burgers are always consistent and good. The rest of their menu is typical bar fare, but I don't recall ever having anything bad.
Atmosphere is great- their deck is close to the water so you feel part of the lake scene. It's really one of the only places in a 15-mile radius of Mankato you can eat outdoors by a lake.Sometimes they have live music in the summer on the weekends.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jul 10, 2015Previous reviewThree stars because it's the only lakefront deck restaurant near Mankato/St. Peter. It is a great place to go on a warm summer evening to drink beer.
Most of the food is not fresh and could stand a lot of improvement. Lots of deep fried crap from vendors, not fresh. I am usually disappointed in the food unless I order a burger. - Deanne N.Waseca, MN031May 3, 2023
We enjoy having this eating establishment available on the lake. We were very disappointed on Sunday when we placed a "to go" order. After paying and leaving the restaurant, it was discovered they charge an automatic 20% "service" fee. Unfortunately, I left an additional tip! After calling today to question this, apparently this is their new practice. It will be a while before I return. A very deceitful practice in my opinion.

We waited over 2 hours for our food. Many meals were sent back. Bartender doesn't have common knowledge of basic drinks.
When we talked to management and she was rude to us.
We will not come back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Darryl L.Downtown - Waterfront, Duluth, MN01Jun 4, 2021
Don't waste your time. Literally, you will be there or forever and you won't be impressed with the food or drink. We spoke to the manager and she was extremely rude. EXTREMELY RUDE!

A year later... refused to serve breakfast during breakfast hours. Still a heart breaker. Sell the place already.

At least there was an inch of ice covering the parking lot, followed by a broken stool that almost took my life, to distract me from the moderately cold/flat beer while waiting.
Jul 5, 2016Previous reviewHoly hell... What happened to this place?? Empty, on a Tuesday morning, and it's over 2 hours wait for a beer and a burger. Long time favorite location is gone

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner a couple nights ago and had a really nice time. The patio is right on the water, so it's a lovely location, and there was live music as well, which was a lot of fun. The patio itself could use some updating (there are some loose boards that definitely made me a little nervous), but otherwise, it's spacious with plenty of shady spots to sit. The food was excellent; I had the bacon bleu cheeseburger and my boyfriend had the BLT and we both really enjoyed our meals, especially the fries.
Service was a little slow, but considering it was a Saturday night with perfect weather, it was predictably super busy, so slower service was understandable. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. On that note, if the garbage people at the table next to us who dined and dashed on her read this: ANYONE who does this is absolute scum, but the fact that you are grown adults (well past middle-aged, by the looks of you) makes it even more awful and pathetic. I doubt you have the self-awareness to be ashamed, but I hope you're somehow caught and have to pay the consequences of being truly crappy excuses for human beings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Miranda S.Janesville, MN1531Jun 4, 2021
Took over an hour for food didn't seem to be very busy, very slow service.. wouldn't recommend any of the food we got cheese curds over cooked to the point there was no cheese inside.. fish basket was over cooked too and the burger was just okay..

This is the first time I've been here in a long time. A group of us went there on Friday, 02/19/16 around 11:00pm. We got a pizza, which was a little spendy but it tasted fantastic. We typically like thin crust but the server said the thin crust is pretty thin, so we went with the original crust and it was a great pick for us. We got about 3 different pizzas. Everyone loved them and couldn't stop eating them.
There was karaoke going on so we sat in the back. The server was really nice and attentive (KH).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Casey E.Shakopee, MN12341Jul 3, 2017
I came at about 5:00 right from getting off the lake. There were two of us, along with my small 5lb. dog. I have been at Westwood many times where dogs were on the patio, so I assumed this time it was okay as well. We sat at a table in the sandy area, but then decided we wanted to be on the deck so moved tables. We were greeted by a server and proceeded to order two bloody Mary's and some waters. The drinks came and we were asked what we would like to order for food. We put in an order for an appetizer and our server went to go put the order in, and everything was fine. Maybe about five minutes later, someone came out and told us that dogs are not allowed (outside) because they serve food. Now, I completely understand if your establishment chooses not to allow dogs outside. Also I will share that my dog was behaving well, not barking or doing anything disruptive. But after having 3+ interactions, ordering drinks and food, and sitting in two different areas outside, you would think this would be mentioned to us so we can decide before ordering anything, what we want to do. The server told us the dog can go in the car, or we can go out into the parking lot (my guess is you can't have your drinks out there). I told her we would just cancel the food and pay for our drinks and head out. She said she would go check on that with her manager. The manager came out and said that our food was almost done, and I responded that we did not want the order anymore, as this should have been told to us as we sat down, not after ordering drinks, and then food later on. She rudely said she would "check" on that again, and made it very apparent that we were inconveniencing them. A couple minutes later she came out with the tab for just the drinks and walked away.
To sum it up, apparently all staff don't know this rule of dogs not being allowed (which didn't seem to be in place before) and we had overall poor customer service. If this is a rule, it should be shared with all of your staff so they know to tell customers. Not an enjoyable experience when you are having a drink and almost going to eat, then you are told this information. We were treated like it was our fault for not being told. I don't even think we received any apology.
Honestly, I am not one to complain when I'm out to eat, but this was just bad. I'm always a polite and understanding customer, so it's frustrating when you get treated that way.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
