As I physically crossed the border and into the state of West Virginia for the first time in my life the only thing that goes through my mind is the John Denver song about West Virginia. We stopped here and visited the attractions and around the exit before continuing our drive. There's clean restrooms here as well as a information desk with great information. Sketchy hotels in the area that aren't worth visiting.

We stopped in here after driving 15hrs from Maine, didn't realize that as a "rest stop" you cannot get out of your vehicle to rest, you and all passengers must remain inside the vehicle. We were warned no camping, no setting up air mattresses, etc; so we refrained from them entirely, 2 members of our party are physically disabled (missing a limb) so they sat at the picnic table n apparently started dozing off, cops showed up and told us we weren't welcome at the welcome center, and that if we came back we would be arrested for trespassing. The person working inside lied when he told us we were all set to hangout (just waiting for money to be sent so we could fill up and go) when the cop approached him he lied and told him he never said any such thing. Regardless, don't call it welcome center if you're going to be ignorant to disabled people trying to rest after a long drive.

Super clean inside and out, that's primarily what I'm looking for in a rest stop: a little bit of an information desk and some first class facilities... and if it's way late maybe some room in a less brightly lit patch to rest the rest of me.
Pretty sure there's a reason for keeping cars and trucks in separate areas, same goes for people and pets.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 2, 2017
The WV Welcome Center is better than the VW Welcome Center, because who wants a world where everyone drives Volkswagons.
Being welcomed to West Virginia was nice and the old guy here was very gracious and welcoming. Also, it was clean and well-kept. But there is nothing to eat and it's really just a tourist information center with a bathroom, and what's more, getting in here is ridiculous. It's not even close to being right off the highway. It's like going through a maze or some kind of jungle to try and get the hell out of here so... we'll stick with 3.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2014First to Review
Ive been on a tour of the various State Welcome Centers in the past 18 months. West Virginias are not the best of the bunch. For starters, the day I passed through they were not plowed, and it was dangerous, for drivers, people walking into the center and pretty much anyone else too.
Smaller Welcome Center, but fine on that front.
If you want to stop to stretch your legs, its fine, but I would not stop here if they have had snow anytime in the past 48 hours.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mary Kate E.Nashville, TN3176263517270Nov 8, 2015
Clean, sleek, inviting welcome center with good bathrooms with lots of stalls and vending machines on site in a separate area.

Not very big but clean. Nice number of restrooms all open and in working order. Vending machines and a staffed desk with visitor's information. All sorts of brochures for West Virginia. Good parking area with ample parking. Easy on and off the highway. And a nice and clean pet area.
