I am a member, solely because this gym is convenient and has a month-to-month membership option.
However,
I cannot recommend this gym to anyone.
1. The staff is very careless. 9/10 everyone is on their phone; However, a trainer (who was on her phone while her trainee was doing a rep) asked me to get off of my phone call. Granted, she was texting the entire time- but that is neither here nor there. The membership advisors hounded me with emails about joining, but once I joined and reached out about personal training/ swim lessons, it took about a week to even get a response, and this was with multiple emails to remind the advisor to respond.
2. The classes are not structured.
3. The bathrooms are dirty. Today there was BLOOD in the shower. I have never experienced that in my life. You absolutely cannot walk around bare-footed.
Those are the things that stand out to me the most. I am a student at Harvard and pay $128 a month, so again- this is my most convenient option. But you definitely get what you pay for here.....Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - z k.Brookline, MA0286Sep 26, 2016
Like many athletic clubs - Wellbridge has a punitive cancellation policy. This policy requires notice in writing to end your membership. Writing, like pen and paper, not even email, not, I believe, fax.
That's a negative - a huge negative - I deeply regret ever having opened a membership with Wellbridge.
If that doesn't deter you, make sure you get a discount off of their outrageously high rates - they'll gave me one when I asked - reducing their rate to just really, really expensive.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anita T.Cambridge, MA193144Nov 4, 2019Updated review
Update:
I did not receive refund for the initial payment, and I just realized I got charged for a new month. I reached out to management and no one has gotten back to me yet. I am changing my initial review of 3 stars to 1. Beware of this place.
-------------
I want to preface this review by saying I didn't use the full extent of the club. I am only sharing my limited experience.
I walked in to check out the club and wanted to use the 3 day trial they advertised. I ended up signing up for the membership with the promise that I can cancel in 2 weeks with a full refund of the up front cost. I went in one other time to swim and wasn't able to because the pool was reserved for kids at that time. To be clear, the staff were very nice and the locker room was okay. The swimming pool had a very strong chlorine smell that I personally don't like, but I don't think there was anything wrong with it.
I checked out a couple more places around and decided on another gym, so I called to cancel. It was honestly more difficult than canceling Comcast. Gym is a very personal thing and everyone simply have their personal preferences. I shouldn't have to justify my reason for canceling. It was just very unpleasant.
At the end of the day there is nothing wrong with the club itself. I'd just caution against the sales pitch and don't sign up for anything until you make up your minHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 22, 2019Previous reviewI want to preface this review by saying I didn't use the full extent of the club. I have been a member of Wellbridge sense 2002. Normally I have a good experience, but with the Hot tub working on and off, Its not been that great. Currently they have the pool drained to make repairs that are necessary (I am all for that!) Management really needs to come in and SPEND THE MONEY ON A WHOLE BRAND NEW HOT TUB! as the one they have is nice, but it tends to not want to work on occasion. All in All Wellbridge is great, but YOU NEED A BETTER HOT TUB!

I come to Wellbridge solely due to the close proximity to my work and the convenience of it. They offer a generous discount because of where I work, but even with a steep price cut, it is still far more expensive than surrounding gyms. At full cost, it isn't justifiable.
When things break at Wellbridge, they stay broken. Hell, even their front door was out of order for MONTHS. When you are taking in as much as they are for monthly dues, that is totally unacceptable. It's certainly not a dirty place, but it isn't updated or anything spectacular. Also, they raised their prices this year and there doesn't appear to be any improvements in the works.
There are none of the typical gym meatheads taking more selfies than working out at Wellbridge, which is an absolute plus. It is never crowded and I have never had to wait for a machine. The downside is that the place turns into the romp-a-room at Chuckie Cheese on the weekends and after school times, as the local Cambridge kids come for swim lessons. There's nothing worse than trying to get ready for work in the locker room and listen to screeching kids and have to deal with them pestering you.
I'm sure the staff is nice, but when I reached out to try to schedule my free personal training sessions after I first joined, no one bothered to respond. I gave up.
All in all, if another gym opened that was just as close and convenient for me, I would leave in a heartbeat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrew J.Andover, MA139247Sep 9, 2019

I would not recommend this gym.
The pros: lots of natural light, lots of machines and weights, the group fitness instructors are friendly. The cons: the group fitness studio is often dirty and the mats in there are shabby, the staff is rude, and it is quite pricey - even with the discounts they pitch.
The fatal factor about this gym is that the staff (not the instructors/trainers, but the employees running it) seem more concerned with business and the bottom line than the wellbeing and experience of the patrons of the gym. It's really a shame because this gym has the potential to foster a special community.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy L.West Cambridge, Cambridge, MA01Dec 20, 2018
I love this health club. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. It's nice to have a heated pool where I can swim and take aquatic physical therapy and practice my exercises. It is so helpful for my arthritis and my fibromyalgia.

The worst Gym ever!!!!! Ridiculously expensive and so many hidden fees. I am still fighting with them! They make u stay a mandatory 3 months. I paid them all up and they are still sending me bills. This gym is old and dirty and way too expensive. Awful customer service.

I worked out here for two years while in law school. It was a great gym and I never had any issues canceling my membership or putting it on hold during summers. It was always very clean and rarely crowded. I never used any of the trainers but they seemed nice enough. Locker room was always well stocked with grooming items and usually very clean. I also enjoyed being able to swim and sit in the steam room during the long winter.
