About the Business
We truly care for your pets! Dr. Andrew Love founded Webster Groves Animal Hospital, P.C. on May 31, 1965. Initially Dr. & Mrs. Love ran the practice themselves in a small, two-story building. In 1984, the hospital was accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and joined an elite group of hospitals dedicated to providing pets with quality medical care. By meeting AAHA standards for comprehensive professional services, Webster Groves Animal Hospital, P.C. confirms the high standards that have always beenparamount in this practice. The new facility, at more than sixteen thousand square feet, has two floors big enough to house the ever-growing veterinarian staff, including two Board Certified Veterinary Practitioners. The new building, with two large parking lots, a large waiting room and a community room for public meetings offers more convenience for our clients and patients. Holiday Hours: 9 AM to 4 PM

I took my dog here after he was attacked by another dog. The team acted quickly to get him triaged, and everyone was friendly and compassionate in helping him get treated, and helping reassure me that he would be ok. His wounds are healing really nicely - a testament to the good care and careful attention. Also, the price was way less than I anticipated.
I know they've had long waits in the past, but the process for calling for urgent arrival times has helped, and allows for the emergency cases to get in.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary C.O'Fallon, Saint Louis, MO02Mar 16, 2024
2 stars because I think there are some good vets there who care, but I won't be using them again if I get another dog.
I brought our dog here for 12 years for routine check ups and other minor illnesses. I didn't have much to compare them to, but like others I was never impressed by their customer service.
I have to mention here how long they going to have the announcement about their new software update causing delays on their voicemail message? FIX IT! That's no way to run a business! I think everyone has been patient enough like you asked them to be!
My biggest complaint is that my dog was on high blood pressure medication and they had to increase the dosage. Anyway, I had gotten a refill and it just so happened that he was going in for another issue, and I mentioned to the vet that he had basically fallen off the couch the night before, which was weird , he's just a 17 pound Shih Tzu and always was on the couch, so why did he roll off? I also mentioned the pills they gave him seem to be bigger than the last time. He kind of got a puzzled look on his face and Well guess what whoever filled his prescription gave him 10 mg instead of five and could've possibly killed him.
While I was in the waiting room to check out, the vet came out and pulled me aside and explained what had happened
Had I not gone in for his other issue, there's a pretty good chance that he would've either been seriously ill or died from an overdose.
In my Opinion, when a business makes a mistake like that I probably should've gotten some type of a follow up call to apologize and even to credit me for the wrong prescription. Just a good business practice I'm not a very confrontational person or one who complains so I just kind of let it go.
Long story short, I had to put our dog down yesterday. He had a very rough night and I was concerned he won't make it till morning so I did call and explained that he was probably not gonna last too long. Actually, the person on the phone was nice and said the first time that he could get in would be 8:30 AM , so I just said do you think at that point I would have to wait very long and she explained that well we try to do that in between other things. At that point I flashed back to all the times I sat in their cold, sterile, waiting rooms with a hard bench to sit on, and the thought of waiting and waiting for someone to come and put him down I couldn't handle. In my opinion, this is not a procedure you do in between other appointments.
I ended up taking him to veterinary emergency group on Brentwood. VEG and I highly recommend anybody who has an emergency or needs to put their pet down. Use them.
From the initial phone call until the end they were extremely compassionate, efficient, and caring.
As soon as I walked in, they put us in a comfort room with a couch, low lighting, a lamp, a plant, pillows, blankets, etc.
Oh, and they give you a bottle of water and Kleenex. It's the little things that mean a lot.
As hard as it was to put him down, I am glad I chose it to do at another facility
And the Tuesday before I put him down I had brought him in for a check up because he wasn't eating again. I'll skip all the details, but when he wasn't better by Thursday, I called and left a message for the vet but I have still not heard back I guess if she does call back, I will let her know that he passed away .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Megan ..San Francisco, CA01Apr 17, 2024
I called WGAH this week in a panic because my dog ate a tylenol. My dog is a newer addition to the family and hasnt been seen at WGAH before. My 2nd dog does go WGAH (I am a paying customer.) Because my newer dog is not an active patient they would not advise if my dog was in danger and told me to call the animal poison control. Poison control is not a free call. They charge $85.00 to talk to you. If an animal hospital actually cared about the wellbeing of a an animal they would try to help out no matter the what the situation may be. So sad. This place is all about money and doesnt care about your pet. They take advantage of you and your pocketbook. Dont do business with them!

I don't understand why this place has such low ratings! Everything about my experience here was flawless. Webster Groves Animal Hospital was recommended to me by a good vet friend of mine after I had a really poor experience at another local vet. After experiencing countless nightmares at our old vet, Webster Groves Animal Hospital was a breath of fresh air!
Our old vet had told us for over a year that our labradoodle had Giardia. They scammed us for hundreds of dollars by claiming that he needed to be treated for Giardia every couple weeks. At our first visit to Webster Groves Animal Hospital, our dog tested negative for Giardia, and Dr. Bedow helped us figure out that it was a diet problem all along. He put our dog on a new diet, and all symptoms disappeared within days! I truly can't say enough great things about Dr. Bedow and the rest of the staff here. Dr. Bedow is super knowledgeable, and he asked us questions about our labradoodle that the old vet never asked. He was very personable and professional. I'd also like to note that he has personally reached out to us several times since our visit just to check in and receive updates about our dog's health. Dr. Bedow gave us lots of different options to try, which we also really appreciate.
Our old vet's office only cared about money. Webster Groves Animal Hospital genuinely wants to provide the best care for you and your animal. For example, when we decided to do the Giardia test, our vet tech took the time to check in with us again and ask if we wanted to do the regular test or a more accurate test that was a little more expensive. It truly means a lot that they didn't make any assumptions or automatically run the more expensive test just to take our money like our old vet would've done. I'm so glad we've found this place, and I wholeheartedly trust Webster Groves Animal Hospital to provide the best care for my doodle!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Rick M.Affton, MO2328Mar 2, 2024
My dog got sick a year ago with Autoimmune disease. We almost lost her. Our dog has been on a steroid for almost a year. About sixty days ago following her lab work I given a refill of the steroids to ween her down. The last line of the order states to give a quarter tablet every other day. That was two months ago and still no more direction from the doctor. On February 24 I took her in for more lab work. I was told the doctor would call me with the results. I have called six times since last Saturday and I've not heard from the doctor. Last evening, March 1 I called again and was told the doctor would call me by the end of the evening. No call. I've called twice today, March 2, and not heard from the doctor.
Horrible horrible horrible care we've received. I would not recommend Webster Animal Hospital or Dr. Germany.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jack C.Saint Louis, MO15Dec 30, 2023Updated review
We ended up taking her to VSS where they were able to diagnose and treat her. She is completely fine now. She is not blind and is back to her old self.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 27, 2023Previous reviewCharged us $900 for diagnostic tests and the visit ($380 of that was to read and interpret these tests). They told us she was fine and had just gone blind suddenly. We then took her to an ophthalmologist where they determined that she is not in fact blind and that this vet read the x-rays incorrectly. We will never take any pet to this place again. It was a complete rip off.

My Maltesse has a collapse trachea and was experiencing a lot of discomfort. I had the pleasure to have Dr. Tate as the Veterinarian to care for my pet. He put together a program, which brought immediate comfort to my Maltese into my family. Great job Dr. Tate and the courteous staff at Webster Groves animal Hospital.

To my delight, the receptionist greeted me and stated they were busy, but would try to squeeze me in. Within fifteen minutes, My pet was in a room being attended to by a technician. They did blood work and an ex-ray, and twenty minutes later Dr. Bedow was reviewing his findings. Thank you Webster for the courteous and efficient front desk, and knowledgeable Technician and Doctor. Again, what a great experienc.

I adopted a dog and had taken her to a recommended vet. After 23 days of having her in my home, she gave birth to two puppies and she was not doing well afterwards.
I rushed her to WGAH and they quickly took care of her and her puppies. They explained her care and what was needed. They worked with me on paying for her services.
When she was released from the hospital staff helped celebrate her and her babies being healthy. They called to check on her and have been available for when I have questions as I navigate having two extra little puppies in the house that I was not expecting.
I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Britt and the whole staff at WGAH! Thank you for taking good care of my Andi and her babies!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alisha M.Downtown, Saint Louis, MO44104148Aug 16, 2023
I've come here a few times based on familiarity/convenience. Our family dog was not well, we came here and was sat in a cold dirty room with no water, no snacks, no one to check in for hours on end.
They finally came and took an X-ray to deliver that our beloved had spleen cancer and would soon pass.
They were not compassionate (with the exception of the X-ray doc) they were only concerned with getting a credit card before euthanizing him (even though we were repeat customers).
We have never gone through the death of an aging pet. And from surveying others we weren't given proper care or treatment. We learned that you can get a "paw print" of your loved one, etc.
When his remains were in, there was no phone call only a letter in the mail.
After bringing him out in a distasteful box, and finding out that we could have gotten a paw print and weren't told, The only response was "I'm sorry, sign here".
I suggest taking your pet to an animal hospital that cares.
They are condescending and down right rude in your time of bereavement. We can never get our dog back, we loved him very much and to know his final hours and our expenses were given to a place like this will haunt me for a long time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kandace H.Saint Louis, MO02Aug 10, 2023
One of the worst places to use a vet! I tried to just get advice on my cat that has been going there for 8 years and had the same disease for 8 years ! And they call me back and say "I can't say" I can't say! I mean all I am trying to do is to gain some advice on how to treat a 17 year old cat with IBD that I do not want to stress out more.
Worst place !Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
