Located in the back of the first floor in an office building. The service was very friendly. We got the onion rings, turkey bacon sandwich and the California chicken wrap. Wasn't a huge fan of the onion rings, but they were made fresh. I loved the California chicken wrap and my boyfriend loved his sandwich. Besides the food, the price was very inexpensive. Lots of seating. They gave us free cookies.

Overall, great food, low prices AND free cookie? 5 stars. :)

If you've ever been to Old Town, you might have noticed two things.

      1. Nearly every restaurant is overpriced
      2. Good sushi is hard to find

With that being said I was happy to see a change of the norm with Waterfront Cafe. Parking was easy and abundant, prices were reasonable, staff was extremely friendly (we got asked twice while we ate if everything was okay), and the sushi here wasn't half bad.

Aside from finding the actual restaurant in the building it's located I enjoyed eating here. It had a good vibe to it.
Not to mention any place that gives free cookies to first time diners gets two thumbs up in my book.

This place is truly fantastic. They serve excellent food at an affordable price.

Unfortunately they're closing permanently this upcoming Friday, January 30th. So if you've been thinking about going for the first time - or just want to go again - then this is the week to get over there. So...get a move on!

So long Waterfront Café; you'll be missed dearly!

Very pleased with our experience. Wife had a turkey supreme, hot. Fresh and made to order. I had lunch box one, chicken teriyaki. Tasty, hot, and quick.

Wonderful service -- the register lady was around talking with everyone. Saying hi to regulars an giving kids cookies! Pleasant atmosphere. Worth the walk from King street.

I'm assuming one of the owners behind the register. She was so sweet and was talking to everyone making them smile!

This is a place that would be fairly standard (definitely good!) if not for the fantastic staff. The people working behind the counter are so nice and hard working, it elevates this place to a higher level. And yes, the free cookies for rookies is worth an extra star!!

The cheesesteak is really good. The fries are good (and they give you a ton!). The fried fish is very yummy. Haven't had the sushi yet but most of the people eating with me had sushi and they all loved it. And I love the loyalty program. You get a stamp for every $5 you spend. Not per meal. So you can rack up the rewards quick.

      Definitely will come back.

5 stars because this place rocks. It is a great lunch spot and not too fancy of a place. The reason why this place gets 5 stars? I would say its predominately due to the fact that this is the defacto example of a small family owned restaurant. They remembered my name on my second visit, push for you to join their frequent club ($5 off after you spend so much) and even give you a free cookie if you bring in someone new. what.the.f***. that NEVER happens these days.

Food selection is enormous. The menu is plastered behind them and ranges from subs to sushi (they are asian after all)

Bulgogi is on point and the perfect portion for most. Its super duper affordable too.

Try: the Vietnamese Iced coffee. Premade but delicious if you're looking for a sweet drink.

Soooo many choices!! they have American subs, Korean food to sushi, and more... I had their lunch special Philly cheese steak with fries and that was banging good. The portion is really big, the fries come out nice and hot, the Philly sub is what you would make at home but for the price for lunch it's right. I saw how they made sushi and it looked fresh. Next time I will try their Korean food along with their Vietnamese iced coffee. Small size cafe and you can't really see the water but who cares. The place is hidden, but the entrance is directly across from Bruscatos.

This place is hard to find...tucked away off of a brick path next to the Old Town Alexandria Sport & Health fitness club. If you do find it, here's what you can look forward to:

      1) Great Prices...this place's price level is like that baby mammoth on the discovery channel that was preserved from a long time ago. Sandwhich's are all right at $5 and Sushi Rolls hover around $3 to $5.

      2) A mix of sandwiches, wraps, and sushi. The list is sure to please singles, couples, or married w/ children. The sushi rolls were prepared fresh in front of us and were a 7/10...surprisingly good, but something was a tad salty.

      3) Mediocre atmosphere...but a few tables can spot a sliver of the Potomac...not quite "Water Front" but not horrible.

      4) Friendly staff. The Sushi chef seemed to be in charge of the lot and was really friendly.

The 4/5 stars I gave is based on what the place is trying to be...a do-it all Cafe. The food was freshly prepared, fine quality, and the prices were unbeatable. Just the right combo for a budget-friendly lunch!

Why this place is called "Waterfront Cafe" is beyond me since it's not really on the waterfront. We were sitting at the table by the windows, and if you stretch your neck and the trees have no foliage, then you can get a glimpse of the Potomac. Otherwise, it's really a beautiful view of a parking lot.

That being said, this place is catering to the business lunch crowd. And, they have a wide variety of food for very reasonable prices. I went with the Tuna Melt Pita, and was very happy with not only the quality of ingredients, but the portions, too. The portions are appropriate for a lunch time quick meal, and the price matches it.

      Good experience with friendly staff.

Exceptional service, and very tasty food. It's no surprise they are so highly rated.

Found Waterfront Cafe on Yelp and decided to check it out. All of the staff were so friendly and hospitable. After placing our order (3 piece salmon sashimi for $5.95 and Grilled Chicken Breast for $5.75), because it was our first time, they gave us a loyalty punchcard and 2 complimentary oatmeal cookies. It's such a simple (and inexpensive) surprise, but it really stuck out as a nice treat. No chain fast-casual restaurant would ever do something like that.

Our second time there was just as great. Again, the staff revealed their simple-but-still-above-and-beyond approach to service. As we were getting ready to pay, the cashier heard me coughing. She gave me a handful of Ricola cough drops! I handed them back and jokingly said, "Oh, I'm just being a baby...you know how infants cough when they want attention." She smiled.

It's silly to think that oatmeal cookies and cough drops could make a difference...but they do. If you're in the Old Town area, definitely visit this place! And I recommend getting take-out so you can soak up Oronoco Bay Park. There's a bench; or even better, bring a blanket and grab some grass.
