I have an heirloom Jefferson Golden Hour clock that suddenly stopped working. I live in Los Angeles so we did the transaction by mail. JFK completely restored my clock, and I've had it for a month and it's running like new. Thanks, JFK!

Avoid, avoid, avoid! I needed a basic in-home service done for my grandfather clock which is basically a quick lubrication of the moving parts. John quoted me $140 for the service. When he arrived, he proceeded to evaluate all of the components and tried to upsell me on a complete overhaul even though the clock ran perfectly after it was oiled. Because he spent so much time looking for things he could fix, he demanded $350 for his visit. Never again.
And, if you care, he will not wear a mask inside your house.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Mark A.'s "review" was written some 7 weeks after I was in his home. I don't know why Mark A., with whom I had amicable and cordial business relations when I was in his home, is not being honest with you about services requested (in advance), services agreed-to (in advance), prices quoted (in advance), and price charged (day of service).
The following is Mark A.'s initial inquiry on "YELP messaging", June 11th 2020:
I have an antique grandfather clock that I recently moved to my new house. After setting it up, it stops running after a few minutes. Can you provide onsite service in Marblehead? What is your service charge?
-------------------------------------------
JFK's reply, June 11th 2020:
Hi - The charge will depend on what's wrong with the clock, and, how long I'm onsite. For what you have described, if the problem(s) can be remedied in your home and the clock does not need a major strip-down/rebuild/overhaul in the shop, the cost for the home visit ($175) and the time onsite (billed hourly) to diagnose the problem(s) and then correct it/them, would range anywhere from about $400 to about $900, total. If it needs major repairs in the shop, I can examine the clock onsite, diagnose its problem(s), and supply a quote. You may call the shop please on 978-922-4400 if my services are of interest. Please write or call if you have any more questions. Thanks for contacting me.

The above was our messaging before the appointment. July 10th 2020 was the date of service in his home: I got Mark A.'s antique grandfather clock to run, I charged less than I quoted, and I even charged less than he claims I "demanded".
If Mark A.'s "review" is of concern to you, I'd be happy to show you written proof of all details of our business dealings, and the price he paid (if you'd like to see it), when you're in my shop or when I'm in your home. (And for the record, I told Mark A. on YELP "messaging" that his review's false accusations blindsided me, that I didn't know why he wrote what he wrote, and asked why he not only publicly complained about & lied about terms that he had earlier agreed to, but also why he lied about my behavior in his home. I also asked him if he would please discuss it with me or clarify. He did not answer).

Same experience as prior reviewer. Howard Miller clock needs entire new mechanism. Had another repair man in and he said it didn't need one, fixed the clock and went on his way.

John was able to rebuild my 1980 Howard Miller pendulum clock, replacing the mechanism to a more modern battery operation, new hands and pendulum. His work was excellent and I easily recommend him.
