What a great place to catch the spectacular beauty of the island!
The moment you step out of your vehicle you can feel the wind blowing so please mind your door so it doesn't fly open or slam on your leg. If you plan on taking pictures make sure you have a macro lens to capture the majestic beauty formed by the volcanic eruption that literally obliterated everything in its path. Your pics may come out like a Ansel Adams portrait because there is nothing but black and black from the cooled lava. It's a spectacular sight and a great place to enjoy the big island's beauty.
