Always have received good service from the friendly staff here for myself and my daughter. My daughter recently fell asleep with her glasses on. She hid them because they appeared to be beyond repair, destroyed.
Huge thank you to Rosendo! He was able to fix them. Money is tight after Christmas - your kind staff, especially Rosendo, are much appreciated.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I am very upset at how this place functions. I went in for an eye exam on 12/03/2020 and wanted to place an order for eyeglasses that I fell in love with at the store. The store associate, Sara Garcia, mentioned something regarding "inventory" and that she would call me a week later in order to place my order for the eyeglasses that I wanted. I am not sure what happened, but it's 12/29/2020 and I never received that call. I've been trying to call the store for weeks on end but the store associates keep sending me to voicemail and the mailbox is full, so I can't even leave a voicemail on top of not being able to reach anyone at the store.
If the eyeglasses are out of stock or if the store no longer sells them, then I understand, but Sara should have contacted me with an update and not left me hanging like this. We're in the middle of a pandemic and I've been traveling for work and didn't want to go to the store and put everyone at risk. I am conflicted at the moment and the only solution is for me to visit the store and I guess I'm going to have to take the risk.
THE LEAST you could've done is cleared the mail box.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

After a half dozen calls to DavisVision...I've finally been told my benefits have been restored...I'll know for sure tomorrow when I go to another eyeglass store and try to use them...but after this horrible experience at Visionworks I would still NEVER recommend them...

Carey, we will follow up with management.
Feb 25, 2022Previous reviewI have been wearing glasses for more than thirty years...and I have never had a WORSE experience than Visionworks Six Corners...the eye exam was the wrong prescription...the untrained employees assisted me in picking the wrong size frames...and when she rang up my order she explained that my insurance didn't cover the lenses but she would give me a discount on them...when I got my benefits statement from DavisVision I saw that Visionworks had claimed for the frames and eye exam but not the lenses that I paid for...I called DavisVision to confirm that they didn't cover the lenses and that's when I discovered that they did...and I learned that Visionworks had scammed me out of $90...it turned out my copay for progressives was $105 but Visionworks charged me $195 for trifocals...I didn't order trifocals, my Rx wasn't for trifocals, they didn't make trifocals, and my copy of the receipt didn't say trifocals...the note about trifocals was hidden in their system...so after a half hour on the phone with my DavisVision Visionworks returned my $90...leaving me to wonder how many other clients they also overcharged...
I returned the first pair not sure if the prescription was wrong or the lenses were made incorrectly...a different untrained employee assisted me in picking a second wrong size pair of frames...when I couldn't see out of those either I had my eyes reexamined and it turned out the first Rx was incorrect...so I returned the second unusable pair and they agreed to refund my payment for the glasses...
However...Visionworks has not notified DavisVision that they took the glasses back...and they have failed to release my benefits so I can go to a reputable store and get new glasses...my provider and I have tried calling a half dozen times to get my benefits released...but Visionworks only has a recorded message that NEVER connects...
I would NEVER recommend Visionworks to anyone... - Jun 1, 2018Updated review
Recently, the temple on my eyeglasses broke. As a full-time photojournalist, I *need* my eyes to do my job (hahaha...yes, yes, thank G-d for autofocus!) and I don't play around with my vision, eye care or eyewear. It's why I've been a Visionworks customer for 10 years.
Honestly, when the glasses broke, I did not even panic because I knew Sarah and the others at Visionworks Six Corners would have a solution.
I called the store and explained the situation. The staff checked my frame model number and, indeed, the had another pair in stock.
I arrived a few hours later, Sarah handled the replacement process and adjusted the new frame for my face, and I was back in business lickety split!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jan 18, 2018Previous reviewI have been a Visionworks customer for 9 years and have gone to various locations and always have good results. The six corners location though, this one in Portage Park at 4100 North Cicero, is by far the best. I've had two different optometrists there over the years and both have been excellent. The customer service people, technicians, are always very professional, friendly and quick to offer service and support in any way. They never try to upsell you like a used car salesman but do make sure to offer you and clearly explain all the different options.
The optometrists and their technicians take their time with each patient during testing and examination. They're very thorough in testing and go over results very thoroughly with you, explaining what's going on. The facilities are very clean and modern.
As of my writing today, Sara is one of the customer service folks I've seen a number of times over the last year and she is just outstanding!
Product choice at eyeglasses stores is always interesting..... You'll find something at one store but not at another. One nice thing is that Visionworks has a broad range of choices for every size face and style, rimless to semi rimless, plastic, sporty, nerdy, old-school, conservative, etc. I wish they had some more frames which were a little more risk-taking or adventurous though.
My glasses have always come in on time or ahead of schedule. I've never had a problem with products. Anytime I need frames to be adjusted, I walk in and I'm taken care of immediately.
Visionworks always has a Spanish-speaking employee, as far as I can tell, because nearly every time I'm there I observe one of their staff members helping a family in Spanish.
Additional note on product offerings and customers, I've noticed that there are young professionals, middle-aged professionals, blue-collar folks, families, and senior citizens. It's not a shop only for trendy people or a shop only for conservative people buying the cheapest glasses.
With that in mind, Visionworks always offers two-for-one deals or 50% off deals or other specials. I've done a lot of price shopping comparisons and they are always meeting or beating other places prices and without the hassle of other places. - Diamond H.Chicago, IL0214Dec 9, 2020
If only I could give zero stars.
My family and I have been loyal customers for over 10 years. I called to schedule my yearly eye exam and to clarify the new prices, due to COVID-19 pandemic. I understand everything has gone up.
As I get to my appointment, once again confirming the price with the receptionist before entering the exam room, wound up getting charged more than I was told AFTER my exam due to a different eye exam I needed.
I've never seen such shady business practices and blatant theft of my hard earned money than walking into this place.
No one told me that I would have to pay more.
I then asked for my prescription just so I could get out of this place and was told to wait 30 minutes.
As an hour has passed of me trying to be polite and cordial, am promptly asked, "what am I doing here?"
They completely forgot about me after they had already ripped me off. So not only am I getting shafted monetarily, they then waste 2 hours of my time as I'm late to pick up my daughter from daycare.
This place is abominable and wouldn't recommend to anyone ever. Do yourself a favor and go to any establishment other than this one.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Unbelievably bad attitude by the receptionist/ greeter. Today 7/16/20 They mixed up the appointment last week and rescheduled for this week and upon arrival, the girl greeted with '"do you have an appointment?"' With a pretty unwelcoming tone and facial expression. The answer was yes, I have an appointment, then.she answered the phone and stayed on without getting any information about the appointment or even a name. Very last time supporting this neighborhood business. Very unfortunate that in such a difficult time for local businesses, that customer service is no longer a priority for Vision Works.

My insurance only covers for certain things so I have to pay most of it out of pocket. Sara took good care of me. She made sure I was getting the best deal with what my insurance will cover and using the store discount promotions. She explained everything with ease. I ended up saving over $200 and I got the frames I wanted instead of settling for contacts. Speaking of frames, this location has lots of different styles so arrive early to browse. Also Dr. Karynn Allen was very kind and knowledgeable. I had a great experience and will continue to be a customer.

If I could give it 0, I would. I thought the customer service was horrible...cold and unfriendly. They screwed up the order for my son's glasses and didn't bother to tell us. When we went to pick them up, the clerk took them out and put them on him, no mention. It was fixed in the end, but it was a pain. He was supposed to have a scratchy free coating, thy scratched in a week.
My glasses lasted for 2 months, no exaggeration. The coating started peeling off around my ears and up the sides, then eventually all around the lenses. I went in and was blamed for it. I was told I should have bought the warranty. After much arguing, the clerk called another store to talk to a manager as the one for this local wasn't in or answering his cell, and the other store manager had the issue solved in less than a minute. I exchanged the frames for the ones on display. So, I was only mildly surprised when a month later the same thing happened. Contacted corporate, eventually was offered a new frame, but when I called the store, nothing was in. No one has bothered contacting me since.
I will never go back to his place. Having worked in customer service for over 15 years, I know there are better ways to handle situations like this. Seriously disappointed!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
