Excellent pool, however could use an upgrade on their machines. Could pass on the unisex steam room. I am not trying to get "meeeeeeeee toooooooooo'd" over sum bs lie. So I skip the steam room. They need separate steam rooms. Also the price has gone up per month. The price of a used old car. But overall a great gym.

Probably the worst spa I've ever been to. My friend asked if I would join her for a massage, her treat so I accepted. First I will say it's in the worst possible location at this hotel. You have to walk outside in the elements to get there. Once greeted you are taken the changing area given your locker robe and shoes. After changing we ask where the steam room is? Only to find out it's coed so we better make sure we are clothed. Shocked us cuz we had no idea!! No one at the spa ever communicated this to us!!! But that's neither here nor there because there is a female steam room but it wreaked of mold smell. Needless to say we didn't stay in that part which is not even in the spa area to begin with. It's in the gym. Again, no one let us know of this.
So we move on the the waiting area for tea and to wait for our service. As we are sitting there all these men walk around us. I look at my friend she looks at me and we are thinking WTF! The whole area is coed!! And what is worse is my friend got undressed as most of us women do, just out in the open. Granted there is a sign that we found after the fact but it's not very visible in a dark spa room. Shame on this place for not letting us know. Waste of time ladies!!! Don't do it!! I gave one star cuz I had no choice but let me tell ya! This is not what I would call a spa. Time to update Hilton Anatole!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mailoha A.Odessa, FL69465714072Aug 9, 2016
I just love the gym here because they have fitness classes - good ones too. I've attended the muscle express, kickboxing, pilates and bootcamp. I recommend them all, especially the bootcamp and the pilates. Both instructors are awesome.
Tip - If you are a Hilton Honors member you get full access to the gym for FREE. Full access = gym, fitness classes, pool, hot tub and sauna.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Thomas H.Indian Wells, CA0433176Nov 26, 2018
I have been stayed at the Hilton that this facility sits on. I have been very happy to be able to use this facility. They have a good weight room with lots of option and plenty of cardio.
They have a nice locker complete with steam room and sauna. The facility also has a full pool, basketball court, indoor track, and squash courts.
Definitely a good place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aisha O.Houston, TX416141158Mar 12, 2016
This place helped me keep my Kim K booty game on fleek while I was staying at the Hilton Anatole!
It's a gym that has the essence of a country club with great southern hospitality. The gym had everything I needed to complete my workout. All the equipment was up to date and working. People were courteous in regards to others' exercises and no one hogged the Dumbbells or the machines. There were water machines with cups and wipes for wiping down the equipment and fresh towels.
There is also a spa, pool and basketball court. I didn't swim because I forgot to bring a descent swimsuit. I threw a few bricks on the court and jetted out of there.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Melinda I.Dallas, TX241745Aug 5, 2017Updated review
Updated machines and staff is always nice. It almost makes up for the incessant parade of kids (?) through the gym this summer. Rarely crowded anymore, which makes it easy to get in and out.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 22, 2017Previous reviewI really love the facilities, but I think they miss the boat in a few key areas that don't make them near top star.
1. Ladies need a separate dry sauna.
2. Ladies Steam room needs eucalyptus too!
3. Coed wet areas need to be patrolled more often for the towels people leave behind.
4 class time are mostly. Early Mornings and noon times. Evening classes Are 6 at the latest. Come on! What about 7 or 8:00 for people who really do work full time and have to get kids to school in the morning and can't come at 6am?
5. Child care hours are from 9-12 weekdays? Really? What about Something working parents can use? Personally, if my kids' school ends at 3:15, we could really use afternoon hours from 3:30-5. I know I am the majority, but some would go a bit later according to school
And work schedules. So child care or activities from 3:30-6 would enable a lot more people to use the gym. And there's a missed opportunity there - have a basketball or swimming or dance or yoga class for the kids - then they get some exercise and skills and their parents can work out as well! And charge for the kids classes.
6. Jade waters really. Now we lose tennis and outdoor pool. Our option to access the new pool/water park For our family is $2000 per summer with NO SATURDAY ACCESS. If we want to go for a day we have a book a hotel room. I live here and don't need a room. Create a day pass purchase option for Verandah members!!!!
So basically, only those who can make a $2k per summer commitment worthwhile (without use of saturdays) would need to go every day of the summer (meaning one parent doesn't work) and spend the family vacation there as well.
Verandah has handled the water park all wrong from the beginning. If you are taking away services you should offer something in exchange. If it's not financially feasible or just timewise makes badfinancial sense to do it, offer us the option to purchase a day pass a few times a year. So simple and it would make so many members feel that they at least have a few perks after a year of losing:
Parking for a year - it was ridiculous/time consuming
Tennis courts - those were a real draw
Affordable, easily accessible pool
For that, let us buy some freakin day passes to the pool instead having us walk by it every time being reminded of what we lost so that a facility we can never use could be added. - Steve S.MA, MA2284846Jan 23, 2008First to Review
So you are a business traveler and you like to work out. The local hotels advertise a gym which consists of 5 antiquated machines and a 20 television
Not at The Verandah Club. This is a workout facility, which happens to be part of a hotel. The Verandah club has 4 racquetball courts, 2 squash courts, a basketball court, yoga classes, a running track and 5 square feet of weights...all kinds of weights, barbells, dumbbells and other nautilus type of machines.
One of the best places to relieve a little stress after workHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Spartevan V.New York, NY655372361Sep 29, 2009
The Verandah Club is alot like the country club you always wished you could join, but never quite wanted to cough up the fees. Or maybe you don't golf or play tennis, but you still wanted a club membership because there's no better place to wear that sweater vest.
That's why you should go to the Verandah Club. I echo everyone's sentiments about how it's an urban oasis of country clubby chicness.
The layout is kinda tricky. Depending on where you park, (Anatole) you either hike across a lush "garden", or you actually figure out to park at the club (entrance off Wycliff) and park next to tennis courts to wind your way around to the annex. If you make it this far and actually find the club, you're in good shape. Next, you have to find the front desk. Lest you're not in scavenger hunt mode, I'll just tell you: It's down a hallway and not visible from the front doors. Yeah Muffy, that's that country club exclusivity feeling hitting you right between the eyes. Members only! Once you finally find the front desk, you realize the actual gym is upstairs, even though you might have already had your workout navigating the labyrinth. It has a decent array of equipment. However, a gym is a gym for the most part. I'm here today to talk about the coolest equipment this side of Milan's Design District, located in the fitness studio downstairs. (Gym . . upstairs. . . fitness studio . . downstairs . . . tennis courts, to the left. Ok, got it?)
The Kinesis machine. Kinesis is what James Bond would have in his house. It's a wall unit of sleek sexiness that relies simply on cables, pulleys, and resistance for movement. It's like an upright Pilates machine, but it's not. This makes a cable crossover machine look as clunky and elementary as . . .well, an elementary school P.E. class. The finish at the Verandah club is woodgrain, but I hear there's a mirrored facade too . . . .and maybe *THAT* version is for Austin Powers vs. James Bond . . .
The concept of Kinesis is hard to explain, but Cara is an awesome instructor and after a session with her, you just feel cooler, stronger, leaner, tighter. She does both personal training on the machine as well as group classes. She will put you through the alpha, beta, and gamma movements and makes it really easy to follow her lead. (Yes, really! - forget the SQUAT. Ugh. What an ugly word. Give me some GAMMA!) You get an incredible workout like nothing you've ever had before AND you feel like a superhero while doing it. I personally can't think of anything better.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jill L.Austin, TX766612Jun 2, 2015
Very nice workout facility with all the fixin's - weight room, numerous cardio machines, indoor pool, spa, steam rooms, boutique, outdoor pool, tennis, whirlpools, indoor and outdoor tracks, racquet ball, a crossfit-type set up, etc. Only ding is the number of weight machines for the patrons can be a bit tight at times. Helpful staff, clean facility, nice locker rooms and showers.

After 4 years of loving my club...we have parted ways. I'm now going to join The Cooper Fitness Center. The Verandah Club used to be great and lately has been sub par. Their billing deptartment chose to send me to collections when my autopay was declined. I had given them updated credit card information when our account was compromised and updated our address change when we sold our previous business. They chose not to make a phone call (same number since 1996) and instead continued to send bills to an address that was two years old. Scott the manager and I finally spoke after several unreturned phone calls and he apologized and said I simply "slipped through the cracks". Well, so did my 5 star rating. Best wishes to those who can deal with administrative errors that are offensive.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 30, 2009Previous reviewLOVE the Verandah! I was searching the big D high and low for the right gym. I prefer to swim laps and take dance classes and definitely prefer the posh relaxed atmosphere than the smelly locker room type gym. I checked out Lifetime, Equinox, The Cresent, Baylor, and Cooper prior to even finding out about the Verandah. After some treatments at the Crescent, a woman in the spa with me were chatting and she told me about the Verandah. I called, went to check it out, and was instantly sold. Having toured the gyms of Dallas, my decision was hands down the best. The environment is upscale, yet very down to earth. The members I've met have been really friendly and given me great referrals on restaurants and places to see in Dallas. The staff is really nice and very helpful. The indoor lap pool is great, and the classes are really good. Having access to the hotel pool has been great, it's so relaxing out there and again...really layed back. This is like a posh oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Dallas. Someone described it as a "relaxed country club without the golf". I don't need golf or attitude. So, I am very happy!
