The food is good as always (Oxtail Entree). I went to get my food from the driver and tip him, but when I got to the front, the food was left w/the receptionist and he was gone. Not exactly sure if that is how it is done...but your driver missed a tip because he took off too fast!!
Thank you,
ShamikaHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 22, 2017Previous reviewi wanna say thank you from the bottom of my soul!!! :-) this food is everything. i ordered the large oxtail entree. omg yall even obliged my little request ;-)
thank you sooo much, i will be ordering from you again..even got my co-worker into wanting to order from you too. :-)
oh almost forgot....it was super quick, the delivery timer was still ticking not even realizing...i have my food in hand!! :-) - Jan 6, 2017
We did delivery from here (third party). I have a co-worker who swears by this place, so I joined in. As soon as I saw the beef patties, my decision was made. However, when they came they were really only a step over what you can get in the freezer section of a grocery store. Not to say bad - just not really great or filling.
The bread that came with it was pretty good, but would have been better combined with anything else on the menu.
Normally I'd hold of on reviewing until I tried the place again, but the people I usually order with just weren't that impressed, so I probably won't get the chance. Until then, this really just has me craving a really good beef patty.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Whitney R.Crofton, MD274115Mar 24, 2017
Terrible! I ordered food for the office at 12:05 and food was delivered at 2:47. The food was cold and the restaurant wasn't apologetic. I tried to contact the manager and did not have any luck. i was told repeatedly that i would be called back and that never happened.
I was highly disappointed and will NOT recommend nor give business to this restaurant. Terrible experience!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian H.Baltimore, MD7621245Apr 4, 2014
I got the large chicken curry for $8.50. I ate half of that delicious beast and ran out of steam. Now - like a python after an ox - I am just trying to digest all this noise at my desk.
The curry was flavorful and not too spicy, served on a heaping bed of rice and beans. The meal also came with fried plantains and a cabbage salad.
The shop is small, clean and only has three seats, so you should really take this meal someplace where you can avoid predators and go into your food coma.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Queen R.Baltimore, MD11352Jun 10, 2017Updated review
This was my second time ordering from here! This time was better than the first time. The change was that I ordered the Large Jerk Chicken. It was great and after eating half, there is still a whole meal left. The only one off was that the chicken was a tad dry but was made better by add the slightly sweet but spicy Jerk Sauce that came with it. Delivery was on time and the food was hot and great. This is, so far, our go to for Caribbean food.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 24, 2017Previous reviewI think that they did a good job. We ordered the large Curry Goat and Coco Bread. The goat was was tender but could use a tad bit more curry. The plantains were good but could have been more caramelized. Loved the steamed veggies were great. The rice and peas(red beans) was a little dry and the peas needed a little more cooking. Coco bread was so good.
At first I ordered through my Eat24.com app. I failed to check to make sure my number was correct and the order got canceled when it could not be delivered. I called to see if the driver could come back after we found the problem. At first I was told he was too far and they could not redeliver, but after a nice explanation that I was not upset and the blame was really mine, she offered to recook and redeliver the order. The lady I spoke with was nice. We will defiantly be ordering from here again. - Rachel O.Cedar Hill, TX83410Dec 29, 2018
Curried goat with peas/beans and rice was real, real, real good. Plantains were sweet but on the dry side. Beef pattie was basic and a little dry. Coco bread was just how I remember - tender and tasty. Jumbo wing was disappointingly small (like a regular sized drum stick from a chicken wing), however it tasted delicious - it was the house flavored one.
I would order entree again and even try another.
I received my food through Uber eats and cannot comment on ambiance of the restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A. C.Orlando, FL208164011963Oct 25, 2013First to Review
(10/25/2013) Got a pile of food for office lunch and they delivered it! Island Vybz is near the Lexington Market, carryout and delivery kind of place. It can take a very long time for your order to be prepared, be forewarned (and it's stated on the menu, you should listen to them).
Overall, dishes were well-seasoned, somewhat on the salty side, but great mix of spices, only wanted a little more heat. Jerk Chicken was tender and smokey, with some great char to it. Oxtails were beefy and stewed long enough for the cartilage to be softened and chewy (in a good way), but not falling off the bone. Curried Goat was in a great Madras-style curry sauce that complemented the gaminess of the goat chunks well; goat was stewed to tenderness.
Platters (large and small) came with a ridiculous amount of rice and peas (scattering of kidney beans), a small amount of sauteed cabbage and frozen mixed veg, 2 slivers of fried plantain (if you require more, order an a la carte side). Beef Patty was the same day-glo orange pastry you find all over town, probably the same frozen product everywhere, just this one was crisped until actually flaky. Great value, love that they'll bring a taste of the island to you.
Note: check your order before the delivery guy leaves; they forgot part of ours, but did immediately return with the rest after notified.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Abe L.Baltimore, MD12024866Jul 18, 2017
Ordered for delivery through yelp - 30minutes later they called me to tell me they were out of brown stew. Bummed. Offered me curry chicken as an alternative, but no other consolation for the inconvenience. I pre-tipped $5 for my $25 order - which I thought was generous given the late callback and giving me a dish I didn't want at all. On top of this - when the store's driver (they use their own delivery guy) arrived, he called me telling me I had to come down to the lobby to pick up my food. WTH. He tried to tell me his phone was out of battery so I had to go down? Anyhow, he came up, handed me the food without saying thank you. The next day when I was going to work, I saw he left his hand written order crumpled up in a ball on the table in the vestibule in front of my condo. Basically just left his trash in front of my door. I will never order from them again.

After waiting for 45 minutes for my dinner to arrive to my hotel, I was excited when I heard the front desk call me. I threw on something and leaped downstairs as if I was Peter Pan. I pre-tipped the driver to save me any more small talk other than "Thank you." I ran upstairs, washed my hands, and I hoped my warm food still tasted somewhat delicious.
I ordered the small oxtail meal and it was definitely huge. The oxtail was alright, nothing I can rave about, but still edible enough for me to finish the entire thing (or was I just hungry?). The rice was a bit dry but the tons of gravy from the oxtail helped with that. The gravy itself was good for adding a bit more flavor in the dish, but not delicious enough for me to purposely request it on top of my rice.
A side of cabbage also came with the dish and that was good. Overall, I would give the place a 2.5. As a native from New York City, the standard for Caribbean food is pretty high for me since I am constantly surrounded by such exotic and aromatic dishes within my neighborhood. Try at your own risk!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
