It was disappointing that the store didn't allow more customers to walk inside at 5:30 PM since they decided to pre-close the store 45
minutes oR so. We called in advance today and they said that they will close the store at 6:30 PM. It's seem the front door person letting people in got rather bored and left their station. We waited about 45 minutes along with 15 other customers in line. They basically told many of us that the store was close. There needs to be a better way to handle this situation and rather disappointed that they cut off people and told them to leave. It might be best to just go to a regular Urban Outfitters and forget this place even exist. I hope someone for the company can respond to this so it can help other customers.

Best to take a train or walk if you close enough. There pretty much no parking into the area. Rather surprised to see the prices lowered than expected. Best to go when it is not super crowded since waited 20 minutes to our daughter to try clothes on. Best to go there in pairs so one can wait in line for waiting room while the other one shops. It's a no frills place and poor lighting. Good place to visit and worth out time. Let us know if you find anything special or if they changed anything when you visit.

I love this store so much but just want to let the lady at the counter who have pink hair and big eyes knows if you don't want to work here just quit or if you don't want to work but u need money at least pretend like you want to treat customer with kind. Your attitude isn't good for the business ,xoxo

I would give zero stars if I was able to. I went in to look for some pieces before I go on vacation. Staff members on the shop floor were friendly but when I got to the register to check out, the cashier with pink hair was rude and appeared to be miserable. When I wanted to use a coupon, she sighed. Like really?! If you're upset and not happy about your job. Look for something else. This hasn't been a first, last time she had a bad attitude aswell. Maybe it's just to me, not sure what's going on.

This is because they are not letting anyone come in after 6:30, even thought I was there BEFORE 6:30pm. The person's name is GLORIA, who I then found out was one of the managers. I needed to get a gift here for my friends birthday tonight and GLORIA was not sympathetic or understanding.

Expect there to be a line, no matter what time of the day or day of the week you get there. Also keep an eye on the time because they turn everyone away at 2:30 so that the staff can take a break.
I was really hyped about this place, because I knew it was the Urban Outfitters SURPLUS store, known for its supposedly insanely cheap prices. That seemed to be true, but honestly I was a bit disappointed by their somewhat limited selection of items. That being said, they really do have some amazing gems hidden throughout the store and it's a great place to go for off-season items - I went last week and stocked up on a bunch of pretty winter accessories. I wouldn't go with the expectation to come out with bags full of in-season stuff, but rather a few items at great discounted prices!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lexi B.Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL041Jul 2, 2021
The rudest customer service I've ever experienced. First and last time I will visit this location. Yes, it's a hip brand that appeals to a young crowd, but that is no excuse to treat people badly.
Was looking at a piece of clothing on a rack in the middle of the store when an apparent staff member nearby snapped "Don't touch that rack!". Confused, I said "pardon me?". She responded, "don't touch that rack, I am working on it". I suggested she tone down the aggressive attitude and perhaps put a sign on the rack, suggesting the clothing is not for sale. I asked her for her name; we'll call her Tassi.
Figuring the manager would want to know about the customer experience from a staff member, I asked the cashier to speak to the manager. Guess who the manager is? Yep, Tassi. So I said I would just contact corporate. Shortly thereafter I overheard Tassi speaking about the situation to another staff member. "I don't care" she said, right in the middle of the store. I told her it's terribly apparent she doesn't care. The icing on the cake was her not asking my niece for her email when we checked out. She just rang things up quickly and gave us the receipt. When I asked why she didn't ask her for email for reward points, she said well I already rang it up. Didn't offer to re-ring or correct. She again proved she "clearly doesn't care".
Tassi shouldn't be working in contact with the public. I'm astonished this person is supervising a retail store and a supposed role model for other staff. She needs some serious supervision and training. Super unfortunate too, as I was shopping with my niece who came in town to visit. After reading other reviews, I do hope corporate is listening. Seems to be a serious pattern here and in conflict with their stated customer service commitment.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Anna K.Naperville, IL29475124843Jan 8, 2018
This is my favorite Urban Outfitters location of all time, because it's the SURPLUS STORE, which means everything is discounted quiiiiiite a bit. The first time I went here was years ago, when I was bored on a work break, and I found a sweater normally priced at $65-70 for $10. I thought about this location for years and years, and then recently moved to the area, and now I frequent this store more than I should. Yay, consumerism!
But really, if you want the ~ Urban Outfitters experience ~ but on a budget, this is a great destination to achieve that dream. For example, I bought four (4) bralettes last week, and you'll never guess how much I paid for them in total (FINE, stop pressuring me!!!! I'll tell you: $1.98. ONE DOLLAR AND NINETY EIGHT CENTS. It was a post-Christmas sale but still). This place is the best and I love it so much!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2015
It's an UO outlet store. It appears to me that surplus merchandise from the retail stores will liquidate here. In fact, many retailers nowadays have started their "own" outlet or liquidation centers so that they can keep most of their profits within the companies.
I surfed the UO official website the day before and noticed that many discounted items online could also be found at this UO Surplus Store. Lots of UO stuff looks unique and fashionable, and some has this modern-vintage twist. Sounds cool, right? I highly recommend you to try on everything, especially the shoes. I saw a pair of vegan-leather combat boots that might be "dressy" enough for work. I was excited to try them on, yet their awkward ankle design could potentially rub my delicate skin.
Rosa J. can endure a reasonable amount of pain, but she definitely cannot compromise on an inferior pair of boots. In addition, the price was so far from being desirable, even with the additional 30% off (40% off for UO members). For $70, I walked away from the shoe department immediately with no regrets.
Nevertheless, this UPST does a great job organizing each and every shelf and rack. Sales associates are nearby and are identified with their lanyards. This location gets constant traffic because 1) this vibrant part of Lincoln Park neighborhood is walking-friendly; 2) DePaul University is on the east side of Fullerton Ave,; 3) it's accessible via CTA #22 (Clark) and #74 (Fullerton) buses.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Julia L.Downers Grove, IL096Jun 16, 2021
This surplus store is hit or miss. Employees are usually standing around on their phones, and don't offer any help or get off their phones up until the moment you set your clothes down on the counter and they have to. I was also sold clothes here that didn't come with tags, and was ensured I could still return them with a receipt after specifically asking about the lack of tags. This turned out to be false and an employee refused to honor what I was told previously and would only give store credit due to their policy (I guess policy doesn't require tags to be on clothes when they're sold, only returned).
So then I just had to use the store credit to buy a different piece of clothing with an actual tag on it, and then return that to get my actual money back. Waste of time and the store is still overpriced even with the markdownsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dominic M.Arlington Heights, IL071Mar 13, 2021
Terrible customer service. I live in Rockford and decided to visit the city today. I called them in advance to make sure that they would be open when I was arriving. They said that they would be open until 7pm which was perfect as I would be getting there at around 6:35pm... I drove by before I parked and they were open, but as I walked the mile or two to the place they decided that they were going to close 20 minutes before they said they were going to after I made the call. When I finally got to the store I could see the workers inside and the doors were locked. I called asking why they closed after they told me that they would be open until 7, they proceeded to hang up the phone as I watched. Unbelievably disrespectful and disappointing that I drove over an hour to a place that said that they would be open and find out they're closed.

Sometimes when you're walking around Chicago, you stumble across a fabulously affordable version of Urban Outfitters. We popped in for a bit and despite the fact that I was on a budget and didn't want to get anything, it was really cool and they had a lot of super hip and affordable clothing.
Walking in, we were greeted by some nice folks who worked there and then we were greeted by Post Malone, who was great company along with the rest of the playlist on that day. I really appreciated how open and huge the store was! It could've been that we came in right after it opened, but it was extremely organized and clean.
In the front section of the store, they had men and women's clothing sections, and in the back they had a whole bunch of kitschy home goods. My favorite thing that I wanted to buy but didn't (cause I have way too many hats rn!), was a rad North Face panel cap that was bright yellow.
The only thing better than Urban Outfitters is Urban Outfitter's Outlet, you feel me?Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
