Looking for a place to host a rehearsal dinner on a Saturday night in November? Does this place have accommodations for about 20-25 pp? Is it really noisy? Do they serve alcohol or is it a BYOB? Thanks.
A:

The inside of the restaurant is really nice its sort of a modern take on what you might think of when you imagine a Tuscan restaurant. I really like being able to watch them prepare the pizzas behind the glass partition and seeing the brick oven. The wood paneling gives it a warm "clean" feeling.
Prices are very reasonable and the service was decent as well. It was probably only 15 minutes from ordering time to the pizza being on our table. The cashier was very new and having a hard time getting order put into the computer and the woman training her seemed a bit irritated but other than that it was fine. One thing I did not like is that the large garage door like opening allows lots of flies inside. There were quite a few of them crawling on the cutting boards and some of the bins of fresh ingredients which was a turn off. A large wasp was on one cutting board and a worker smashed it with a paper towel and then food was prepared on it-also kinda gross.
The food was ok. Reading the ingredient list I was really expecting something amazingly flavorful and my pizza was just alright. The dough is quite thin which I like but it wasn't quite crispy, it was still a bit chewy and soft although it was obviously cooked completely so that may just be the recipe they use. The flavors were fine but underwhelming.
This is a good casual pizza place if you want to grab a quick bite, as everyone else has said its like the Qdoba of the pizza world. I will for sure go back again to give it another try but maybe set my expectations lower.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Try the Hot Honey and thank me later!
Urban Fire is a family-owned yet quick service pizza restaurant where your pizza is ready for you in less than two minutes. You can either choose from the menu options or design your own creation. With plenty of unique choices and toppings, you really can't go wrong either way. The ingredients are fresh and the pizza truly feel gourmet, such a treat!
This brings me back to the Hot Honey, which I have never had on pizza in the past but now I love. It's exactly what it sounds like, spicy honey, and you can add it on top of any pizza. I highly recommend it with the any of the meats because the saltiness of the meat combines so well with the sweet and spiciness. Get creative!
The zeppoles here are also a must, be sure to get the Nutella!
Urban Fire should be on the bucket list for any pizza lovers out there!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Alina,
Thank you for your awesome review. So glad to hear you loved your experience. Yes Mike’s HOT HONEY does the trick. Looking fwd to hosting you again soon. All the best—Anthony - Mar 5, 2018
I dined in at Urban Fire just a few weeks ago and I'm still having dreams about the arancini. I would come back just for those incredible fried risotto balls. The other menu items are classic flavors, simple but delicious.
EVERYONE is super friendly- the staff go out of their way to make sure each customer is enjoying his meal.
And don't even get me started on those Nutella covered zeppolis...I'm gonna need a bucket of those next time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Didn't try their pizzas today but got the lemon chicken sandwich instead. I wasn't thrilled about it, the chicken was too dry. I would prefer if there was more flavor to it. The bread was hard yet crispy though. I'd recommend going for another sandwich or better yet stick to pizza! I didn't see too many comments, if any, raving about their sandwiches so your best bet is to skip it entirely.
There's also not enough condiments lying around. Only one pepper shaker so be mindful and don't hog it.
Pizza wise you get your own pie! Not sliced though. My coworker had The margarita pizza. She loved it, the sauce was flavorful. The only thing they could improve on the we adding more basil.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2018
Fun story. So I got waitlisted at the Yelp Elite event earlier this year and Urban Fire sent an offer for a free dessert. I decided I'd go. I had some correspondence with the owner but I never made it down there until today. As I looked around, I started to recognize things. Fresh ingredients. The timetable on the wall. The wording on the menu. Then I scoured more reviews and realized that I _was_ here before - there was another Elite event a few years ago! Whoops!
So this first visit on my own dime was much longer overdue than I thought. On the other hand, it gives me a fresh perspective to come back to on the review. My impression is that this is gourmet pizza. You pay full-size prices for personal-size pies, but the crust is artisanal and something worth enjoying on its own. Toppings are mostly reasonable at $1-$2 each. You don't get too many of each, but you end up with the right balance (I reluctantly say this as someone who loves overdoing toppings) and they are all high quality. Now, the bufala is expensive - $6. It is a thing of joy, chewy and creamy, but probably not worth that penalty. The porchetta is $4, which I did not spring for.
The food here is more or less 5 stars. The ambiance - modern, airy, not too loud - no qualms. Pardon me while I list the sins that reduced this to 4:
* Table tops are all sticky. Whatever material that is, scrape it off. It looks like the wood is peeling and feels like it's never been washed.
* The restroom door was sticky when I pushed it to go in. Unforgivable. Clean your surfaces, especially anything patrons touch.
* I don't mind that the staff had their friends in to talk. It was a weekday night near closing time. I am 100% A-OK with that. But one of them grabbed a green pepper out of the bin when no one was watching and chewed on it. Well, I saw it. So to the owner - please be aware of this and make sure you have a floor manager watching at all times.
I thought about how much to deduct for those, but the food is too good to go down to 3 stars. Expensive, but good. I'm sure these issues will be addressed because I know how responsive the owner is, so I don't mind rating this as Recommended if you want something upscale from your daily pie.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Amy S.Morristown, NJ13142248Jun 1, 2019
No zeppoles. No meatballs. No rice balls. If you're wondering if this was a late day run it wasn't. It was an hour after opening.
The staff is very pleasant, just slow and unprepared for the lunch crowd.
Perhaps just a bad day but I won't be back.
As for the pizza...sub par.
The bread they use for sandwiches is excellent!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2017
We came here during the day between lunch and dinner time so it was pretty empty. The staff was friendly. They took the time to explain the process of ordering since we were new there. I ordered the Molta Carne pizza and it was really good. I didn't notice the spice right away then eventually the chili oil kicked in. The ingredients were fresh. We also ordered the Quattro Formaggi. I love the red sauce so I'm not the biggest fan but the cheese is addicting, I must say.
I would definitely recommend and will go back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm happy to report a relaxing dinner is totally possible on a quiet night at Urban Fire. We returned at the repeated urging of Anthony the owner to make up for a lackluster visit over the summer, and I'm sure glad we did. I wish more owners were this concerned about their customers!
We started with a round of arancini, arrived at our table steaming hot in a mild tomato sauce, so yummy, so dangerously filling. Ditto for pallini, slightly smaller but equally steaming golden fried balls of ricotta in tomato sauce. Hey I could stop there and call it a meal.
I hasten to point out that the panzanella salad is not quite as described, we expected peasant food of chopped stale bread moistened with tomatoes, instead got a big bowl of arugula, cherry tomato and sliced onions with a few crisp croutons on top. A great start, the menu doesn't do it justice.
I'm also happy to report that this evening the porchetta sandwich was perfect, lots of flavor and just a hint of cracklings, no more threats to the old molars lol. Pizza was excellent - I like mine well-done and they were happy to char the crust on my Diavola spicy pie with sopressata, peppers; they even threw in the spicy sweet honey, thanks! She who must be obeyed played it safe with a Margherita, it was also cooked to a proper char.
As if we hadn't ordered enough, Anthony brought us zeppole and (gilding the lilly!) a bowl of nutella. Smokin-hot zeppole dredged in nutella is awesome, only thing missing was an espresso.
Hmm, pizza for breakfast? Yes. I think so.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Hey Chris,
It's been some time since we last saw you. I want you to know we have listened to your concerns and have implemented, and co tongue to work on getting you the quality you desire, on a consistent level. We have a whole new management team in place dedicated to quality and customer service. Our pizzaioli are going through training on our wood burning oven that will assure that each pie is cooked properly. We hope you give us another try and we look forward to making your next trip on your best yet. Thanks again for your input. We greatly appreciate it. All the best,
Anthony Saporito,
Owner, Urban FireJul 18, 2015Previous reviewThe cracklings on my porchetta sandwich were alarmingly crisp, like biting into thin slices of bone, ouch. My dining companion's build-your-own pizza arrived as a plain margherita, no trace of prosciutto and red onion, so the teenage staff took it back & added the meat & veg without refiring it in the oven, who does that? And when we finally got the pie the crust wasn't done on the bottom. Argh, I've had good food here previously but this Friday evening visit was a miss. They were busy, sure, but not busy enough to excuse this.
Started with a rocket salad. This is a huge bowl of arugula in white vinaigrette, with a scattering of parimiggiano slices on top. A-OK but far too much for one person and it needs another flavor note, maybe a few cherry tomatoes, IDK.
The interpretation at Urban Fire of porchetta is basically a thick slab of roast pork cut into 1-inch chunks. (Just for comparison, a new place in Madison produces a sandwich of the same name with long cooked meat that falls apart.) I like the green sauce, I like the arugula on top, the bready roll was excellent, but those little chunks leap out of the sandwich. And of course the extra-hard cracklings were jarring, mind those rear molars lol.
But underdone pie? That's the cardinal sin in my pizza book. The very earnest teenage workers - there were about 8 of them - need more training in the art of the pizzaiolo.
Not enough tables outside nor enough chairs. Or maybe just open those big garage doors on splendid evenings, why have that kind of door if you never open it?Jun 3, 2014Previous reviewOutstanding wood-oven pie, extremely reasonable prices, very good fried rice balls and fried cheese balls, friendly but clueless staff, and absolutely no beer so BYO. Seriously proper char on the pizza, and one serves two people for about $10. Better than A-OK, worth 3.5 stars, rounding up.
The pizziaolo was happy to aim the infrared thermometer into the wood oven, 950 screaming degrees that evening, sweet!
I highly recommend the del Mare pie, starts with pesto, adds tomatoes, garlic, rock shrimp and red chili flakes -- stupendous. The boy ate his half so fast I had to keep my fingers out of the way. Thin in the middle, not too thick at the edges, charred bubbles on the bottom, great.
Why am I almost-but-not-quite a fan? Food comes out fast but service is not part of the concept here. Sure you save the tip but with pizza this fine, I want an appetizer, salad, and then perhaps at the end, a desert pizza. With a bit of time in between! No, here you line up and order your food over the counter, then take a number and they bring it out.
For starters I ordered 4 pallini (fried cheese balls, $1) and 4 arancini (fried rice balls, also $1 ea). The staff brought exactly 1 cheese ball. WTF? They finally got it straightened out when they brought our pies, a bit too late.
Another minor issue - the crust had too much flour on it for the family. The dough rounds that had been rolled out were basically sitting in deep piles of flour on the counter (not resting in a bowl) waiting for people to order, that might explain it. Didn't bother me any, YMMV.
Vegetarian rating? Solid 4 stars, most of the appetizers are strictly veg and you can fashion a tremendously interesting veggie pie - toppings include (forgive me the long list) artichoke, arugula, broccoli rabe, brussel sprouts, chilies, capers, peppers, grape tomatoes, roasted eggplant, garlic, olives, onions, mushrooms, parmigiano reggiano, ricotta, and even truffle cream. Drooling yet? I hope so :)
No sign at all out front, nothing, look for a big glass garage door next to the Chipotle. Private parking in their lot, but it fills.
Bailey P. is on point with "fast casual" but otherwise I disagree with him utterly, this is *far* above average pizza. Or maybe I need to follow him to pizza joints lol - Jennifer C.Oak Ridge, NJ70574121Mar 11, 2018Updated review
The urge for Urban Fire pizza brought me back here once again this past Friday. Normally, my go to meal is the margarita pizza but this time I tried a few other items... PLUS the pizza is course! For an appetizer my boyfriend an I had each one of their rice balls and their meatballs. The Arancini was my favorite! My boyfriend really liked the Polpetti meatballs.
We skipped the salad and went right for the PIZZA! I can't say it enough but their sauce is amazing it really makes the pizza! We couldn't breath after all that food but of course had to try the Zeppoles... WOW. They were delicious and came with a side of Nutella. Who doesn't love Nutella??!!
While we were there the owner Anthony was in and out of the dining area making sure everything was perfect for the customers. He really showed his importance and priority in his customers needs which is appreciated! He was extremely nice and outgoing. Definitely a must try place!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Anthony.Feb 16, 2015Previous reviewBy far one of the best places I have ever had pizza! I am pizza obsessed and I can't be happier with this place. I live about 45 mins away and it is worth the trip! I am a frequent buyer of their margarita pizza. The sauce is what really makes this pizza. DELICIOUS!

First off BYOB!!!!
When I walked in I felt like I was at home, Anthony the owner was the nicest host you could have. Him and his family were all working that day and greeted u with a smile and love. I knew it was a family run business.
As for the food. Excellent!!!!
Arugula salad was dressed to perfection
Rice balls=AMAZING!!!! I could have ate them all night
Porchetta sandwich = a crunchy pig skin and pork sandwich that was addicting
The pizza was also good as well we got the verde and sausage Heavy on the pesto but still delicious as well as the margarita with shrimp and guanchale that was my favorite.
All in all my experience here was a wonderful dining experience. And when u have all three components to a great restaurant (food, service, and comfort) u have yourself a wonderful place to dine.
