We were greeted upon arrival, asked if we ever been here before, since it was our first time, they gave us the entire run down... fresh bakery baked everyday menu in front of register. I advised we don't want any soy products they helped us choose Suitable substitutes. So we got the Quesadilla with a non soy substitute, pancakes and blueberries, blueberry Lemon scones and Rice crispy treats.

We waited outside in the scolding heat where they were setting up for Open Mic which is every Saturday at 3:30pm and Live Band at 5pm every 2nd and Last Saturday.

While I checked into this location a promotion popped up for $25 for a bottle of wine and Italian calzone. So since I was here I decided to go back in and get that offer as well. Well disappointed since they didn't know what it was, then they said we don't even make the Calzone anymore and didn't honor it with a substitute. So if they are not honoring this deal they may not be honoring the $15 for $20 deal here either. I would check with them first.

Our food came out in about 30 minutes since we were the only ones there ( not sure if they were also working on online orders) I am concluding our order was % made to order.

Now for the food we took the food to go and a te it once we got home.

The food was delicious, first vegan place we have been since coming to Scottsdale, Arizona a month ago where they really season the food! The quesadilla had me thinking about it the next day, especially since my husband decided it was the best out of all we ordered too, so he wanted to "share". Knowing if this was his order he would have said let's go back and order your own...

We will definitely be back for that quesadilla!

So I didn't see a restaurant immediately but I am sure they have one... sorry couldn't review for it cleanliness.

One of the places I go to get coffee regularly. I is a very good option for coffee and certain foods.
Dirty chais, coffee espresso, latte's, they are all very good. Has a wide array of milks, vegan, Oat, almond, etc. Coffee has a good flavor, cold brew, and espresso.

About the food, this is one of the few places that has good vegan items. However not all of them are very good.

The burrito is delicious. The sauce that they use makes everything tastes better.

They have sweet potato sushi, which appears to be ok tasting.

The lasagna is the worst of the items I have tried. Do not try or or buy it unless it has been recently made. They told me maybe Wednesday is a good day?
Lasagna pasta was very hard, dry, filling is ok, sauce is minimal. They give you some marinara sauce on the side to mask the dryness of the dish. However it does not solve the problem, you cannot take a bite even holding the lasagna on your hand. I had to take it home and re-make it.

I have tried other food in the past which had been years ago, however not in the menu still.

They also have their own milk made there. Soy milk tastes very good though.

They have some outside seating and I believe there were some events on certain dates. A cute place to have some coffee.

      Burrito, very nice

I love, love, LOOOOVE their Hot Ruben sandwich. So good. Favorite sandwich in the city. I went to their physical location and literally yelled "No!" when I saw it was closed. However, I saw that they now have a take-out/delivery only location. Beauty. Mother's day, gonna get my fave. They don't have it. Boo.
Today, I see it on the menu! It says they are open. Perfecto. I order at 10:05am. Get a text confirming I've ordered. Thinking, drive by around 10:25, make it to my desk by 10:45-11ish.
Get to the pick-up place at 10:20. Lady at the counter of the Hub on Highland (it houses many kitchens of many different take-out/delivery only places) says that the Urban Beans people haven't even shown up.

I call the Urban Beans number. No answer. At 10:28am I leave a voicemail saying that I thought my lunch would be ready and to cancel my order. Go to my car.
Get a text at 10:33am saying "Your order is in progress..."
Okay, I think. I'll just wait in my car a bit since they've started making it. Get a work call and then go back in to get my lunch.

Check the tablet for my order...At 10:58 : "Order is in progress..."

It's 11:10, an hour after I ordered. I ask the lady at the counter if they're close to bringing out my order. "No, it's canceled." She said.
"What?! I got a text saying in progress - twice! Both after I'd called!"
      "Well, it's been cancelled."
"Why didn't I get a text saying it was cancelled instead of 2 texts saying it was in progress?"
      She shrugs.
"Can I speak to the person from Urban Beans?"
"Probably not. He's cooking in there. He's not going to come out. Call them."
"I have called them. No one answered."
      She shrugs.
"Finally got on the phone with the very nice cook. He blames the app."

It's been an hour and a half, I'm late. No lunch. People just acting like they have no control or no clue what's going on there. Urban Beans - I love your Ruben sandwiches - but, get it together!

Great coffee, cozy atmosphere, lovely flowers and decor. Friendly customer service. Lots of vegan options. What more could you ask for?

Only suggestion- get some matcha please! ;)

Urban Beans is an unassuming, simple vegan cafe, coffee shop and bar. But what makes it stand apart is this: it makes almost everything from scratch, is open 24 hours and also serves alcohol. The holy trinity and an utter rarity.

I got the vegan lasagna ($9) for lunch and wow, it blew me away. It might be the best lasagna I've ever had; they make the noodles, the sauce and the seitan all in-house, amazingly. It was fresh, bursting with flavor and just spectacular.

There are places in LA and New York and Portland that charge twice as much for hastily-assembled, mostly store-bought lasagnas (I'm looking at you, Crossroads in Los Angeles) that taste half as good. Urban Beans really takes things to a different level.

I also got a chocolate chip cookie ($2) which tasted great.

Urban Beans falls into a great niche---you could come to work, for a meal or even a date (if the person is cool). There aren't many spots like this in the US.

I wish every town had a place like Urban Beans and I can't wait to come back when I'm next in Phoenix.

Chocolate chip cookie ($2). Pretty good.
Vegan lasagne w/housemade cheese & meat ($9). Awesome. The best lasagne I've ever had.

Came here with the wife and kid this morning. Place absolutely sucks.

Decent service when placing my order though. Perfect example of walking into a place, it looks horrible.... And you give them the benefit of the doubt because of Covy.... then immediately regret it.

      Trust thy instinct!

There is a lot to love about this place. It's open late (well, all the time), it has free internet, and the staff is so nice. They have a great drink menu, and you can even enjoy an adult beverage if that's your mood.

Unfortunately, it falls a little short on the food. They have a few options, and nothing has ever blown me away. I've tried tacos and quesadillas, and my husband loves their bowls. I find the food a little too spicy and generally underwhelming.

But they are so dang nice that it doesn't bother me.

After not being able to find a place to study, I decided to give Urban Beans a try again. I've come to this coffee shop a few times and never ordered food. The coffee is pretty decent, nothing extraordinary. However, the food I had today I was not impressed with. I ordered the ziti and cheese bowl and it somehow got mixed up with the other orders and I didn't get it for 45 minutes.

No big deal, I was working on homework anyways and didn't notice the time passed. They offered a free scone so I tried the cranberry orange scone. It was okay, nothing super special. My ziti and cheese was truly inedible. I took a few bites and felt my stomach start to hurt. It had a weird garlic/onion flavor but was also bland somehow? Terrible texture, the noodles were gummy and were sticking together. I didn't want to make a big deal since I had waited so long so I just ended up throwing it away.

On the bright side, the staff is extremely nice and helpful, I have no complaints there! The atmosphere of this coffee shop needs work. The furniture is super old and the chair I was sitting on kept rocking back and forth, super distracting! I'm not sure if I will willingly go back to this place, maybe if it's the only place that's open for food.

Was excited to stop by this place when we saw the big VEGAN sign driving by as tourists from NY. There was a good selection of items on the menu and sweets in the front case. We ended up deciding on the lasagna and protein packed pancakes. I wish I read the other reviews before ordering. The lasagna tasted like I could have made it better at home. It was pretty average and a little crunchy/overcooked on the bottom. There wasn't anything special about it which was disappointing. The pancakes were very good, but portion was a bit small. We also tried to chocolate chip cookie. It was good, but again nothing special. They currently only have outdoor seating which was way too hot for us coming from NY. Wish we could've had a better experience here - really wanted to support this vegan business.

Nowhere else in the PHX metropolitan area can you satisfy your midnight and beyond vegan cravings. Sandwiches and desserts, 24/7, baby! I have not yet strayed from my usual Jackfruit Torta entree, so I don't know what their other vegan options are like, but the Jackfruit is bomb! It's flavorful and filling. I always get my order with a side of plain chips.

Don't forget to ask about the vegan desserts. Some are labeled, but not always. And I've learned that the employees are not all educated on what is and isn't vegan, but one of the co-owners informed me that their apple pies are always vegan. I'll have to try the apple pie a la mode next time! I have tried their brownie a la mode and their homemade toffee. Yum!

The parking lot is small and fills quickly. Prices are reasonable. The patio is small but charming. Did I mention that they're open 24/7??! If they sold vegan pancakes, they'd be the hipster Denny's/IHOP.
