How is the student parking? I hear that many students complain about parking spaces, or going to USF really early to find a spot, is this true? Could the parking for students start to have problems?

      A:

Parking at USF is really a problem. You won't find parking spots during the times that the general student body has classes, especially from 10 AM - 3 PM. You may find a spot if you're lucky, but you will normally have to park on the fringes of… more

Embarking on our college tour, we started with the University of South Florida (USF), and it set an impressive tone for our exploration. The campus stood out with its cleanliness, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Our tour guide was not only informative but also made the experience enjoyable. The diverse student body showcased exactly what my daughter is seeking in a university. The extensive gym, offering free group classes for students, and the variety of dining options, including an on-campus Publix, added to the appeal. With over 600 clubs, a reputable honors college, and excellent tutoring services, USF emerged as a top contender. I appreciated their security staff as far as offering students transportation back to their dorm rooms when on campus late in the night. Choosing USF as our first stop was undoubtedly a wise decision. Go bulls!

I have reached out to four different people now trying to be accommodated for a disability and not a single person replied. Also, I was accepted into a new college at USF and changed my major. However, because administration failed to switch over my major in the Degreeworks system, I was unable to sign up for classes and therefore, was forced to take a semester off, leading to me having to graduate late. That is after I already fell behind due to my academic advisor my Freshman year (Abigail Stover) telling me I needed less classes per semester than I actually did in order to stay on track. There is barely any parking on campus for students (it's mainly for residents), so you may have to walk ten or fifteen minutes just to get to class. The professors are in charge of creating their own grading systems, so there is no uniformity across courses and there are some grading systems that hurt the students. For example, some professors I have had (i.e. Richard Lamborn- Professional Ethics) pinned students up against each other by only allowing the top ten percent of point earners in the class to receive an A, despite the points that were actually earned. This creates a competitive environment that discourages many students from even continuing at this university. I have watched friends and family drop out one by one solely because administration does not care and does not help students in any way whatsoever. That is unless you're an honor's student or athlete. In that case, you're a priority. Even seniors had to wait for a week after registration started to accommodate for all the athletes and honors students, who got to pick their classes first. This leads to seniors having to wait to graduate because they can't get the classes they need, as I have experienced myself and observed with others. Among many other frustrations- including the fact that the first year you attend USF, the only option you are given is the most expensive meal plan- I will close this out by stating that I am frankly embarrassed to tell people I go to this school for the chance that they understand how awful it is. I would have chose anything else if I had the opportunity to choose a school again. They make it so hard, as if college isn't hard enough. I'm telling you, RUN FROM THIS PLACE. If you think you want to go here, I promise you don't. If you care about your college experience, or that of your children, do NOT send them to the University of South Florida.

This review is based solely on the tour. Not the school itself..... Everything was very well organized when we arrived.

I will say I'm glad they gave us an address to the exact building but parking was not clear. You have to park in a paid parking lot which I thought was a little bit odd.

The student ambassadors are all very informative and are willing to answer any questions you have along the way. They show you the major highlights around campus including one of the dorms.

      Great tour.

Kudos to the USF students wearing face masks
during the governor's recent press conference.
Each individual has to now determine their own
risk/reward tolerance. Being scolded by the
powerful is a test to that judgement.. Real life
      teachable moments.

That same wisdom is required when choosing
a school or a major. The USF campus visits are
well organized and are especially informative
for transfer students. I would recommend any
of the healthcare majors or departments.

Blah. This is where you go if you're running low on options. Nothing spectacular here about the campus, dorms, athletics, you name it. Could be worse but as stated, there are a lot better. Food on campus is decent, but nothing really sets this place apart.

Wonderful University. I'm proud to have attended for the time that I did. Looking back, I wish that I would have lived On-Campus as opposed to commuting, but regardless, my time there was brilliant.

My husband attends school here and loved it.

The staff is kind but Ofc there are professors who don't want teach but for the most part it's been a positive experience.

We also love this campus! It's beautiful and we take our dog here!

I graduated from this school with honors almost 10 years ago and it had its hiccups, well a number of them looking back now, but I disregarded them as I graduated and ended up with a great career in healthcare. The instruction at USF prepared me well for my line of work in the hospital (well back then), so I recently went back, during the pandemic, and many of the school's instructors and almost all of the administrators do NOT seem to care at all about student success and postive student outcomes. I have decided not to apply to grad school at USF. It's ashame that the those in charge are running it like a for profit print your degree at home type of institution these days. I certainly do not recommend it now. If you want to further your education please look elsewhere!

      Updated review

Penny pinchers with EVERYTHING! My son had a scratch on his wall from his chair. He reported it to his RA who said it should be fine. At the end of the semester he got billed for $150. Had we known, we could have fixed it ourselves for less than $10. Also, accused over 20 students of cheating and dropped their grade by an entire letter grade when professors instructions were unclear and students intentions were not to cheat. They charge $600 in addition to the tuition cost of the class to re-take a class for the 3rd time. What more can I say about this school!?! They are not supportive of their students. Go elsewhere! Don't be fooled by the cheap scholarship offer because you will still pay through the nose.

It's a nice school with lots of amenities but it has absolutely failed me. I've had three advising appointments scheduled, 2/3 times they called out sick and refused to compensate me even though I was on a time schedule crunch. The other time, I asked about a possible change of major and they basically told me it was too late and there's nothing I can do about it (even though it's only my first semester here). I also tried to attend a counseling appointment but got stood up by the therapist. Overall, USF has made me feel more alone and on my own than ever. I try to take my future into my own hands and do what's best for me, but USF is making it really hard when it constantly reminds me that it does not really care.
