Was deeply disappointed with this company. The sale rep was misleading me into 3 years contract hiding the important information that apparently made the equipment totally useless. Now I have to start over with the better and more honest company. In response to my complaint the sale rep from United said that I "got too much of free and discounted stuff already" to be satisfied by giving me additional equipment that may fix problems I faced. As I shared results of my research, showing the company rediculosly overpriced their products, service and equipment compare to their competition, he said that United Security Systems has very successful business plan and it is growing. Well, if it based on a lie no wonder it is successful. Please do your careful research prior to selecting United for your home protection. Do not trust them any more. Thanks.

After someone began messing around with items on our porch in the middle of the night, my husband and I decided it was high time to activate our alarm system and get back to sleeping peacefully throughout the night without having to worry.
The people who owned our house prior to us had had the system installed years before and when they moved out, they left us a letter recommending various vendors and United Systems, a local company, was given their stamp of approval.
United Systems offers motion sensors, glass break sensors, wiring for your window screens in case they are cut and so on. You can customize these services to your home and you can even have various zones of your house set differently. Basically, they offer everything to help you sleep soundly. It's about $30/mo for their services and you have the option of being billed monthly or quarterly, etc.
While no one has bothered to mess with our house lately, I know that United Systems is on top of it because my husband has accidentally tripped the alarm himself a few times (oops!). At 3am one morning, he let the dogs out without disabling the alarm system first and within 60 seconds, United Systems had called to see if everything was alright, asking our secret password, and asking if police needed to be dispatched.
Thanks to United Systems, I may be able to start watching scary movies again knowing the boogey man won't be sneaking through my window later that night.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - K W.Denver, CO05Aug 11, 2014
I used United Security for almost 10 years at three different addresses. I had nothing but bad experiences with them. At the first address, the company failed to respond, call the police to respond, or even call to ask if we were ok when our alarm was triggered. When my neighbors called me at work to say that the alarm was going off I called United Security and was told that they believed it to be a mistaken alarm because it was at the back door! Somehow they convinced me that it was my issue and not theirs and I foolishly continued my service with them to my second address where I had no issues.
At the third address, I entered into an abbreviated, 18-month contract with the company since the third address was an 18-month rental. At the end of the contract period, they first mistakenly continued to bill me on the account despite my sending them the same termination of service form three times. Then, once they finally got it into their system that my service was terminated, they mistakenly billed me for the remaining months on a full 24-month contract instead of the 18-month contract that I had negotiated. When I sent "Dahlia" in their accounting department a copy of the contract, signed by a supervisor, she was extremely rude and suggested that I was lying. After taking the issue to a supervisor, the company finally admitted that I was right and I was able to close out my contract.
In addition, the company tried to bill me on multiple occasions for my husband's service on a contract that he had at his previous address before our marriage... an address I never lived at... on a contract that I was not a party to. Even worse, the bill was on a contract that he had terminated using their termination form, which they again neglected to put in their system properly.
I would never trust my security to a company that can't property handle their own billing issues. We switched to ADT and have not had any problems with them at all for the last six months.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris R.Denver, CO1623Jun 19, 2015
We were customers of United for almost a dozen years before moving to an apartment while a new place was being built. Since we were on contract we kept paying though there was nothing to monitor for 6 months. Once we moved into the new place, we were never able to get the system running reliably. Given, the alarm system was installed by the builder, not United Systems, so they didn't have the same level of expertise with it, but they initially said they could work with it. Our install was further complicated by a GSM module in the basement so we didn't have the alarm interfere with an answering machine on the landline. The GSM module couldn't keep a connection up and we got alarms (not intrusion alarms) from the box daily. After a few visits from service including one that cost us $100, a system that still didn't work, and an invitation to buy a new system ($300?), I cancelled service, but only after the contract period was up. Basically 2.5 years of no service while paying for it "on contract".

Be sure to read the fine print before signing up with USS. I made this mistake and have warned many others whom have cancelled their services with this company.
