inept triage in ER. patients left on gurneys in ER hallways. patient logistics are non-existent. earliest my wife could see a physician (oncology specialist is in about 3 months. we are bailing out of UCSD before the end of the month. it's not a hospital. it's a circus of the sick.
I will go to any other Er but never again to UCSD.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I normally do not like to write bad reviews. This hospital is very good when it fixing a problem I believe.
But when I go in for one concern and that concern is serious, but then I am told I have other health problems that need to be addressed and more medications, I get a bit annoyed. I was told to schedule a biopsy but I never received instructions on mychart how to do that or on who to call I tried to call the hospital to follow up. Then I am stuck on hold until I give up.
Very frustrating belonging to UC health.
Their customer service is a 1 and there staff for being seen is a 2.
Terrible service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The Mission Statement of UCSD says it aims "to deliver outstanding patient care." After several days in the hospital, it is obvious to me that message is not followed or monitored. The night shift nursing staff included one of the most cruel individuals I have ever met. She must like the night shift so she can get away with her behavior. I hope to God I (or anyone I love) never have to be in her "outstanding patient care" again.

Wish I'd read the reviews before utilizing this Emergency Room.
Unprofessional doctors on staff. One doctor was training a medical student. Said doctor repeatedly used profanity while in my room when speaking to the med student.
I asked them to please go over my test results and this doctor acted as if it was a major inconvenience to do his job. I could see the tests on the app, but needed to understand what the treatment plan was, if any. Spoiler alert: there was no plan.
Two residents were treating a patient across the hall. They would walk in, talk to the patient, slide her door shut and then proceed to loudly talk about her case -- very personal details about her case -- as well as their opinions about her family sitting in her room. I made eye contact with them thinking they might catch the hint that not only could I (and probably everyone else on the floor) hear them but this wasn't the most professional thing to be doing. They just carried on talking.
I ended up requesting to be discharged because enough time had passed that my fever and BP were back to normal and it was abundantly clear they were not willing or able to work with me.
Checked the post visit notes and these doctors really paint themselves as the picture of professionalism on paper. They listed tests they didn't do and even added a bit of narrative details I didn't provide. Some of which are damaging to my character.
Thanks UCSD. Never again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

I'm extremely tired of these new young doctors and residents. Literally no time is spent with you, and they're more interested in entering information into the computer.
They enter conditions and surgeries into MyChart that I've never had, and complaints have to be filed to have them removed. One resident actually lied to me, and said that the surgeries were already MyChart. I immediately corrected her, sent a message to the office manager, and informed her that if they weren't removed, I would file a complaint with the Medical Board for false information.
I plan to switch to Scripps soon, and will use an older, more established doctor for my health needs.Helpful 3Thanks 3Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Wonderful hospital with many facilities, this hospital has an excellent lung transplant team / department that practically saved my life. The follow up care is also on point!

Potentially tragically, "minus" stars ratings are not possible on Yelp, but if ANY sorry, fake-a**, low-life, trash facility ever DESERVED "minus stars", it is this U.C.S.D. Medical Center - Hillcrest (or at least the Emergency Room care)! Better that you seek *Veterinary* services for you or your loved ones than the pitiful "professionals" at the U.C.S.D.-Hillcrest pre-Coroner "ghoulfest". Absolutely horrible! *Imagine this 100% actual scenario: You're walking with an old friend, age 71. They trip and fall, breaking their nose. They're bleeding, but are otherwise uninjured. Frightened, they insist on an ambulance; which (tragically) goes to U.C.S.D.-Hillcrest ER. There, a quick "interview" reveiled he was on blood thinners and had been a psychiatric patient for many years. His nose was x-rayed to confirm breakage, then he laid in an ER bed for 11.5 more hours, waiting for more attention and/or to be released. At 11:00 p.m. he was released, and I picked him up and took him home. To ME (not a medical professional), he looked *terrible*! He was out of breath, even just sitting; and his lips were a ghostly white!! It seemed "obvious" the man was *NOT* well, but he didn't want to move, and he'd just left double-digit hours of (supposedly) *E.R.-level professional medical care*, so I went home. Long Story Short: This poor man was dead two days later, in that same apartment, presumably the victim of a heart attack (but never confirmed). The "last chance" for a life-saving "intervention" went completely unanswered, IN the Emergency Room of this god-awful "hospital". Don't go!
