Ixtapa Mexican Grill & Cantina

I don't know what happened here. It used to be great and it was always always busy. We came in on a Saturday night for drinks.

It was empty. At 6:30 on a Saturday. The menu says you can no longer get frozen drinks, but our waiter told us we could. So that was weird. Because I clearly would've gotten a frozen margarita if it was offered to me.

The drinks were great. The chips? Were not as good as usual, but I think it might've been the end of the chips they had because lots of little tiny pieces.

The salsa? so not spicy. It used to have a little bit of a kick but now it's literally just tomato juice.

I don't know what happened here. We didn't even bother to order food because it just wasn't the same.

There are multiple locations and I have been to all and have received good customer service at all of them.

The salsa seems more like a shot because it is more liquid that anything, the chips taste freshly made and warm.

Drinks are strong and tasty

The food I've eaten here is always fresh and hot (temperature) and full of flavor.

Food is pretty good, can't complain. Nothing to write home about, but it's good. Someone else put it nicely, it's "comfort food". Margaritas are good too. Came on Cinco De Mayo and the bar and restaurant were packed! Thought we would have to wait a long time, but got seated right away and food didn't take too long. It's right in downtown Woburn so parking can be tough but there are city parking lots that offer parking at night just a short walk away. Street parking is available too.

Okay where do I even begin?! First, the food is NOT good. You're better off going elsewhere. However, if you do decide to stay make sure to ask for the updated prices. I ordered - off of their paper menu - the fajita wrap listed at a price of $12.75 (picture attached). When the bill is brought to me I notice the charged price was $15, so I inquire about the price. The waiter states that the "price has changed" and points to the FRONT OF THE MENU where it's WRITTEN "menu prices were changed" (pictured attached). I kindly told the waiter they should write out the updated prices and they said they've already told their boss but "nothing has changed." I interpret this as they're intentionally trying to rip people off.

In any case, the food is also 1/5 stars. I ordered Chile con queso which the cheese was not fully melted, and there was no Chile whatsoever. And my over priced fajita wrap had over cooked steak. No bueno señores y señoritas!

I was surprised this spot only had 3 tables on a Friday night. We got dirty menus. The service was not great. Our server would leave without completing the order. The food came out super fast (red flag) food was not fresh or authentic. Our server never checked on us after we got our food. Unfortunately, would not recommend.

Came here last week and the food was great. Everyone at the table was given their own sala for the chips which was nice. Drinks were good. Not too strong so you could have more than one. The food came out quickly and it was hot. The fish in the Atlantic burrito was a big mushy but otherwise all of the food was good.

My parents live by this restaurant and whenever I visit home, I always ask to go. Really good food and nice staff. They have great margaritas too. It's a good price and they have large portions so I always end up taking some home.

I ordered a Baja salad and a chicken quesadilla.

The salad was fine. The chicken quesadilla was dry, bland, mostly tortilla. The Guacamole was brown and had big chunks of onion in it. The salsa that came with it was about 1/4 full.. and no, it didn't spill. I checked.

I didn't take a picture of the Quesadilla, but thinking about it made me remove a star from the review. Whoever made it, gave zero "cares".

Tasted like the Mexican food I get in my hospital cafeteria. Not a compliment. No flavor. The one good thing was the refried beans which is hard to mess up. I got take out so maybe at restaurant it's better

Nothing exciting for the price. Guacamole was too laden with onion for my liking. Quesadilla had shredded chicken and little cheese. Salsa was watery and the sauces I was given were not good either. Queso was watery and found one small pepper slice in the whole 12 oz styrofoam cup it was packed in. One thing positive is that the home made chips were some of the best I have ever eaten.
