Okay, this is exactly what a used bookstore should be, with all kinds of nooks and crannies stuffed full of books.

My husband and I were on our way home from Montana, and wanted to see what was happening in Baker City, since the last time wed been there was years and years ago, and wed only stopped for the night. When I spotted the bookstore, I knew we had to go in.

We were warmly greeted by the store owner, who showed us where to find subjects we were interested in. And then we saw one of the best parts of this bookstore: a bookstore cat! Personally, I think every bookstore needs a cat. This one was a beauty, coal black, and perched on top of a stack of books, very friendly, and anxious to show us all the books around her.

We were looking for books on Oregon history as well as a couple of novels to read, and these were here in abundance. We wandered throughout the store, wishing that we had more time to explore the place (we had to get all the way to Portland by the end of the day, and wed already been on the road for several hours). This is the kind of bookstore that you could spend hours and hours in, and we really hated to leave. But time and tide wait for no woman, so we had to hit the road.

If the call of used books is a siren song to you, then Turn the Page Books is a wonderful place to be pulled into. I highly recommend it.

Sadly, this business has closed. We went by there today only to see it is an empty storefront.
