Our camping weekend experience was unfortunately cut short due to one of our dog's getting sick but the limited time we enjoyed at Tuckahoe State Park was wonderful.
We booked the dog friendly cabin on the electric loop. The cabin was clean and the grounds were spacious. We LOVED the canopy of shade provided by the trees over the campground. This particular cabin site has a water pump nearby and is right across the road from the bathing/toilet facilities as well as a short walk to the camp store, so the location/accessibility is super convenient. Our trip took place during a VERY warm summer weekend in July and the electricity in the cabin afforded us a nice refuge from the humidity and heat. The A/C and ceiling fan worked very well!
We didn't have time to explore much beyond our site but reading the map it seems the state park's activities and amenities are spaced out and likely worth exploring by bike (saw quite a few biking by our site).
A couple things to be aware of - bugs are aplenty! I am a mosquito magnet and was prepared with deet and all the hardcore chemic stuff and it was no match for these bugs! Also, the camp store only accepts cash and there is no on-site ATM. Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent so be sure to map out any driving directions ahead of time!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sandra D.MD, MD01920Oct 8, 2023

Absolutely fantastic campsite. The sites are well maintained and accommodating. Each has a firepit with grill, a picnic bench, and post for hanging a lantern. The sites are spacious enough to comfortably fit a tent and car. The electric sites have reliable power. The bathrooms had two showers with plenty of hot water.

Small park with lots of amenities! See horses , fisherman , bicycles , hikers etc . Also has a very nice camping area and also a new kayak loading pier that makes getting in your kayak & out a dream ! Another nice pier has also been added for fishing ? Or possibly bird watching just beyond the kayak loading pier a short walk down a little trail. Also last stocked pond of year for fishing.

If you are looking for a fairly remote, quiet location for camping, Tuckahoe State Park may be the right choice. I was driving back from the DE beach today, and I had made a two night campsite reservation online for Site #42 on the G loop -- tents only. The park is open again after things were closed for a while for the pandemic. However, it was pretty deserted and it looked as though most services are still closed. For instance, you are prohibited from bringing in your own firewood, but the honor system $5 self-serve firewood shed was closed up. There was only one site occupied by 5 pm in the tent loop. Site #42 was level, shaded and we'll spaced from the adjoining sites.
To get to the lake, you drive in the opposite direction from the campground. I drove all around and then decided to drive on home instead of staying the night there alone. My Verizon phone notified me that there was no internet service available out there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Beth S.Ellicott City, MD114610Jul 5, 2020
We had planned on visiting another state park, but it was crazy busy, so we went here instead. Lovely park with a lake and just gorgeous, tall skinny trees on the trail. We only found a 30-minute trail to hike, but that's bc we hadn't planned our visit. Looks like there's plenty of hiking available, which we found out online once we got home. We only saw four people on our hike, nice bc of the pandemic, so it felt safe. Bathrooms are open, another plus. They have a cool looking playground there for kids and plenty of room to stretch out.

Great State Park. Even though there is only electric hookups for rvs, if you are prepared you can have a great camping experience. All of the electric loop campsites are shaded by trees and there is potable water available. Nice trails are easy to moderate through the forests.

Our favorite park to visit. Playgrounds, walking trails, little creeks. We love it! You can also camp in tents and RVs..
