Started with a Greek salad that was so fresh and the musak boregi (filo dough dumplings with a potato filling and some kind of amazing dipping sauce). Main course ordered the lamb kebab which came on a bed of delicious rice, and the Adana with yogurt - both really great!! Capped it all off with the tiramisu, the only thing I regret was sharing it. I was really craving manti, and unfortunately they did not have it that day. I will be back to try it!

The Kofte Kebap Dish. It's a Mixture of ground lamb and beef prepared Mediterranean style. I love this mixture it really gave the lamb and beef taste even more flavorful together!
TheAdana Dish. It's a Turkish style ground lamb, onion, pepper and spices. It was super flavorful and ohh so good. The best is the taste of the lamb coming off of the grill.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela A.Chesterfield, NJ6741381Jan 22, 2021
The food is always excellent.
The service is "ok". The staff are not wearing masks or using gloves during COVID-19 which is worrisome. The prices are up incredibly high. My usual $8 beet salad is now $12. My usual $5 shrimp topping is now $8 with less shrimp (only 4 pieces).
The place is low-key and has a laid back vibe to it. I HIGHLY recommend their teas- really great herbs and fruits used to make them (see pictures). I wish their prices were more reasonable.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 28, 2018
Highly recommend. Delicious, well-made, clean tasting (non-greasy) dishes.
The Sahlep drink (Anatolian orchid flower root drink with milk) was delightfully warming, the Lamb Shish Kebap cooked medium-rare and tender, with the right amount of char and flavor, perfection. Dessert was the Keskul --almond pudding with rose water and pistachios --sweet but not overly so, light on the stomach. You leave the place fulfilled, glad to have had such a great meal without taxing your digestive system.
Our waiter did check in and kept filling our water glasses. You get the family feel of the restaurant.
Don't let the externals (older building, parking in the neighborhood streets) deter you.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 8, 2017
Came in about 9:30, and learned the kitchen closed at 9:30, but that's ok since we were hoping to enjoy some Turkish coffee and dessert. We had dinner elsewhere and now wish we had save that visit and just eaten here. The dishes I have been able to enjoy include Hummus plate, Lamb Shish Kebap, Scallops, Kunefe, Tiramisu, and Herbal Teas sweetened with honey. Food is delicious and freshly made to order. All the seasonings & herbs all well chosen and marinades are done well I didn't have a need to add salt etc.
Service is very welcoming here and the outside seating areas are cozy and pillow lined with padded chairs accenting the tables. Owners allow you to bring your liquor to be served with or added to your coffee. Wonderful atmosphere and great service.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Sep 17, 2017
Stopped in for a meal on a Saturday night, walked in around 7pm with plenty of availability. Parking, I got luck with since i was part of the earlier crowd. Otherwise, there are street parking.
The place has a bit more than a dozen tables. From the menu, ordered sage tea which comes with a side of honey, Greek salad, the seafood scampi appetizer, and a plate of lamb shish kebabs.
The Greek salad was simple yet tasty. The scampi followed, it was my favorite out of all the dishes, it had a small side of mixed greens. The lamb plate served last, which also came with a side of mixed greens, and rice containing chick peas.
The rice and mixed greens were again simple but tasty and complimented well with the lab. The kebabs were a hit or miss. Some pieces were cooked right and some pieces were overlooked and dried out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Navid L.Los Angeles, CA361187266Aug 16, 2019
I am here in Edison New Jersey for a convention and figured try something different so came to this place for some Turkish food.
We ordered the appetizer sampler, mix grill, mix seafood and gyro which was super delicious and so much flavor.
We were so hungry and excited that We forgot to take pictures of the food but the dessert was we did and was amazing.
My most favorite of all which we ended up ordering another one of was the Kunefe which is basically shredded Pastry Dow filled with cheese and cooked on open flame in rose and sugar water. Hands down, the best dessert dish I've ever had!
Thank you guys!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley D.Fords, NJ183112407May 17, 2018
WOW. Let me say, I read the reviews and thought "hm, okay this place seems legit. People are saying it's authentic tasting." But to be honest, I am always skeptical of yelp reviews, especially for places in NJ. Some people don't know authentic from not, good food from trash, so it's always a gamble.
HOWEVER, Troy really blew my mind. The food was incredible---well spiced & marinated, and cooked to perfection. Even the hummus and babaganoush were OUTSTANDING. Usually I consider them standard fair, nothing too amazing. But wow, I never knew I could be so obsessed with these two mainstays. I'm still thinking about it almost a week later. Grape leaves were pretty good too, but nothing remarkable honestly.
I ordered the lamb adana with yogurt, my mother the chicken kebap, and our friend the lamb shank special. Everything was absolutely fantastic, even the chicken. Now, I'm not a chicken gal to be quite honest with ya. Did a stereotype just run through your mind? Were you like "oh wow, black girl doesn't like chicken?" Well, here you have it. I'm a red meat fan. Love steak, love lamb. BUT, the chicken kebap was freaking incredible. It was so moist and tender, the marination light but piquant. Man! I may actually order that next time I go because it was THAT good. Again, I almost never order a chicken dish when I dine out, but this is one I have to eat in it's entire.
Our friend and myself ordered a tea--I can't remember the name of it unfortunately, but it was very delicious. It was a simple name too...I also ordered the Sahlep for dessert. Pretty good! My first time having it, but very sweet.
The service was also great beyond the food. Our friend has been watching Turkish dramas lately, and would chat with our server a bit about the decor and simple greetings she learned from watching.
All in all, we agreed that this was a total WIN for the night and I'm honestly thinking of sneaking over there tonight to grad something for dinner...We will definitely be back!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 30575527955Mar 17, 2020
Troy is a cute little Turkish restaurant in Perth Amboy. I've been here twice now. The first time I ordered falafel with tahini for appetizer which was so good! Then I had the lamb kebab for dinner. The lamb was seasoned nicely, but it needed to be more tender. I received 6 cubes of meat that day which was an ok portion. Typically the majority of Turkish restaurants give you 8 cubes of meat in a dinner platter. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the salad it came with so fresh and crisp! It was dressed perfectly too! For dessert I had the baklava which was DELICIOUS! The second time I came I had the apple salad as my appetizer which was very good! Again, the salad was fresh and crisp, and it came with raisins and walnuts. For my entree I had the chicken platter. The dinner platter came with only 5 cubes of chicken for $18! That's a total rip off and that's why I wouldn't come back! No Turkish restaurant I ever been to only gives you 5 cubes of chicken for a dinner entree! The chicken was seasoned nicely, but the meat wasn't tender. For dessert I had the Katmer which was Excellent! On either visit I was not served any complimentary pita bread either! The place seems very cheap with not giving any pita bread and giving such a small amount of protein for dinner! It makes no sense given their location, and there are plenty of Turkish restaurants around serving 8 cubes of protein for the same price! Check out Koy Turkish Grill in East Brunswick and Marlboro or Galata Turkish Grill which is in Marlboro as well. Both places give complimentary bread or pita and give 8 cubes of tender meat!
