My experiences with Capitland taxi have nowhere been close to satisfactory.
I once got into one back in 2016 where the driver was smoking the whole time with the taxi cab littered all over the place with potato chip bags, empty plastic cups, soda cans and random plastic bags. It was not a good experience at all and would not ride this business againHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ruth Z.Los Angeles, CA20721Oct 29, 2017
I'm a fan because at 2 am when I couldn't figure out where the LYFT location was, the
dispatcher made it clear he didn't know or care, but once i realized the fact that
there were probably nO LFYTS at 2 am, he gave me a good taxi driver, who was
from Pakistan and friendly and when he dropped me off, asked "what are gouging to do about food" . Wow. I wondered if he would have prepared a meal for me (right not he spot?Anyhow i told him there was food waiting and I liked him. The route is NOT cheap from the airport
to Troy NY so be prepared. But i've had worse in Troy, so.....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samantha T.Beverly, MA31886Feb 21, 2017
Horrible Service. Originally I wasn't planning on using Capitaland Taxi Services given the poor reviews I've read, but at the time, they were the only ones that answered their phone at the time I called.
I had a 6am bus to catch that was a 10 minute drive away. I called Capitaland at 5:10 and requested a taxi. The dispatcher was fine, he said he knew my home address and said someone would be there in 25 to 30 minutes, and he apologized for the delay and said it was shift change, I told him that was fine.
At 5:40, I called Capitaland again and asked about the whereabouts of the taxi, and whether everything was okay. The dispatcher said that the driver was on his way, and reminded me that the roads were bad. When I asked him if he knew how close he was, he just repeated, "he's on his way."
At 5:50, I called again, and reminded the dispatcher that I had a 6am bus to catch, and if he had any updates from his driver. I heard him try to reach his driver over the radio with no answer, and he said that he wasn't getting a response from him. I asked the dispatcher if I needed to find alternative means of transportation quickly, or to expect his driver. He just kept repeating"I can't reach reach him. Do you want me to cancel?" I said I'd wait a couple more minutes, and I packed my car with our bags in case the driver never showed. The dispatcher never apologized, he never offered me another solution, or accepted any accountability.
I ended up driving myself and paying for parking near the station. When I drove myself, I had no issues with the condition of the roads. The driver finally called me exactly at 6:10, an hour after I called, 10 minutes after my bus departed.
They were unprofessional, unhelpful, and completely unreliable.
This is why we need Uber, I don't understand how Capitaland's services can be considered legal and ridesharing services are not.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nick T.Manassas, VA2382Aug 3, 2015
Bad bad bad! No this isn't the twilight zone, though you may wish it was, this is the State Capital of New York, and you're riding in one of the worst cab services in creation.
They can be called to get a cab, their number works which is a plus, and often they even answer. In the event they do answer they often assure the customer that they will arrange a pickup promptly. Great! Until they are 20 minutes late and don't answer. Then when they finally arrive, you may feel a sense of relief that you will be in route to your destination in a timely if late manner. Please to not be overcome in elation. On the way to the airport, they might detour and pick up another fare who is "on the way." If on the way meant a few miles away to pick up and several miles to drop off, then they may be speaking the truth. The best part is that the other customer pays their fare, plus you pay their fare, and your fare too. The meter don't stop running.
The service is intolerable, and the ride often scary. Buckle up! This company needs competition like the crops need rain. I would suggest avoiding them all together, but you can't unless you rent a car. Once uber arrives in Albany, may their filthy cabs rest in temporal rust at the nearest junkyard!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dean S.Troy, NY233Nov 7, 2016
Awful service. Terrible cab condition, cabbie didn't know where to go (we needed to use Google maps to tell him how to get to Troy from the Rensselaer bus station...), overcharged us by about 4x what we should've paid for the ride.
Avoid at all costs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cheryl F.San Francisco, CA01Feb 27, 2019
Will never use again after requesting a cab more than 30 minutes before needed to go to the airport. The cab arrived 30 minutes after the requested time and had another passenger on board that had to be dropped at a Doctor appointment. Repeated calls to the dispatcher to inquire about the cab's location went unanswered. The cab was very dirty. We barely made it to the airport in time to get bags checked and get through security. A very stressful start to a vacation. Do not know how this company stays in business!! Cheryl F.

I live on the end of an incredibly busy dead-end street due to the location of it within the city.
Everyone who comes up my street thinks it's OK to use my driveway to turn around, not realizing that they are one of many a day who do. My driveway that is less than six months old is already seeing wear and tear from overuse.
When I am home, I will tell those who use my driveway to back out of my driveway as they are "trespassing on private property".
Today, a driver from Capitaland Taxi, responded to me with, "Fuck you, bitch", "I don't care", a blaring horn and endless middle fingers. I certainly returned his sentiment after that. I took a picture of his vehicle and have his license plate number documented.
I called to report him to the dispatcher who was apologetic and said she would yell at him again (as it was clear he's an asshole to others).
She said she would replace him if she had more drivers.
I told her that's not good enough. I don't deserve to be verbally abused for asking someone to get off my property who was never invited.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah C.Malden Bridge, NY18664Jan 16, 2015
What the shit, people?!
I called & told her the pickup time twice. I said we need to make our flight, & they take their sweet ass time!
I left a number to reach us & everything. Now they're super late & do not answer their phone. It just rings & rings! Left out in the cold, & they arrive almost 30 minutes late. This is unacceptable.
Can someone recommend a reliable cab company in Troy?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ruth H.Lakewood, CO207983Nov 5, 2012
Being new to the area, I was having trouble finding a cab that would pick up from Clifton Park. I was glad that Capitaland Taxi was willing to pick me up as I guess they don't go out to Clifton Park as often.
I had taken the taxi to Halfmoon. The ride was fine and the driver friendly. it was $24.50 from Clifton Park to Halfmoon. It would be good to have CASH on hand as they don't take credit or debit cards. The driver had stopped by Stewart's so that I could grab cash at the ATM and that was an extra $1.50 charge for the stop.
For the ride back, a different drive had picked me up. He apologized for the condition of his car. Something about the antifreeze and you couldn't see whatsoever through the windows. He wasn't very familar with the area. He said that I would have to give him directions. Being new to the area myself, I didn't really know the directions but used Google Maps to get me there. I was surprised he didn't use his own GPS that was attached to his window. It was also $24.50 going back.
It's interesting, coming from the Chicagoland area, the cabs don't have a running meter. Rather they call into the base via their cab communication for the fares.
Overall, a fine ride.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Eric H.Playa Del Rey, CA03Mar 25, 2017
If I could give less than one star I would. I was hung up on after asking if they would take a credit card. Twice.
