When I was a senior in High school, I worked for a neighborhood hardware store. I really enjoyed working there because I was a hands on individual and the owners provided education along with understanding how to provide the value the customer should receive. When I was younger, Home Depo and Lowes were not at the national brand they are today.
I have been a customer of Trio Hardware for over twenty years. They are knowledgeable, pleasant and incredibly helpful no matter what your needs maybe. It's incredible what they actually stock that you probably will not find in a large chain store.
Most importantly, they remind me of that neighborhood hardware store that treats each customer as if they are part of their family. There aren't many hardware store like Trio in business today. But there is a real good reason why so many people still continue to shop for all the hardware needs there and why I will never walk into a hardware chain over Trio.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 13, 2012
Family owned and operated for 40+ years. Their slogan is "if we don't have it you don't need it".Very helpful and knowledable staff. It is a shame there are very few of these independent hardware storess left. If you want to know what personal service is about next time you need a hardware, plumbing, or electrical item go to Trio.

It's exactly what you'd expect from a local hardware store: their hours aren't great, their prices aren't great, but it's much easier to go there than to rive all the way to Home Depot or Lowes.
They tend to have most of the things that I need when I go there, and the employees are usually pretty helpful. Once I was looking for a special halogen bulb and the size I needed was packaged in the wrong kind of box, but they were able to clear that up for me. A key I got copied there in 2004 is still hanging in there.
Their hours are pretty bad. Thankfully they're open longer on Sundays now. They used to only be open until 2:30 on Sundays which was essentially useless, but now they're at least open til 4.
The pricing on their barbecue gas tank exchange (They only exchange, they do not refill your existing canister) is reasonable, and since it's an exchange, it is nice and quick. It has a slight picking-up-contraband vibe that they ask you to pay up front, then bring your car around to the back and meet the guy back there to swap gas tanks.
It would be nice to have a better hardware store be the closest in town, but Trio fits the bill.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 8, 2013
Have been coming to Trio Hardware on and off for 30 years.
One of the last true mom & pop shops around.
When you walk into trio you are always warmly greeted.
They have a pretty good selection of items to choose from, And the prices are reasonable.
They are always willing to go the extra mile to take care of there customers.
If you need electrical, hardware, plumbing or even keys made Trio is the place to go if you are in the area.
I highly recommend Trio Hardware for all your hardware needs.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lou S.Freeport, NY4312027Jun 23, 2013
Trio Hardware & Paint has the worst hours. I don't understand why they have a "Piss on" Home Depot decal when they clearly know they have nothing on Home Depot. I don't know why I even try to go there. Every time I need them, they are closed. Someone should make a Piss On Trio decal. Most people don't get off work until 5:30-6 and closing at 2:30 on a Sunday? You might as well close the entire day. That's my 2 cents.

Trio installed a shower door in a bathroom
For my teenage daughter that she can't access without reaching around the 3 foot fixed door (on a bathtub). He did not use his knowledge as a professional. He expected me to know more than he knows. He will not stand by it either. Completely lacking
Knowledge and customer service. The worst experience I have had with customer service. Go somewhere else first !!!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Suraj D.Downtown Brooklyn, NY1443031Jun 22, 2016
Friendly staff - super helpful. A little pricier than the big box stores but worth the immediate attention.

Their hours are pretty useless for a working person, but, when you happen to catch them open they have a lot of interesting and less generic items that a big store just doesn't carry. They also do random odd jobs that are not performed or way overpriced somewhere else. I recently brought in a lamp to be converted from European electric, and they took care of it in a few days for a reasonable price.
