Are there any vegan pastries or food options?

Hi Veronica! Great question. All of our bagels are vegan and we also carry hummus as a spread. We also have 3 vegan cookies that we keep in rotation, which are chocolate chip, sugar, and lemon poppy seed.

Tree City Coffee & Pastry is a gem in the heart of downtown. The cozy atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for catching up on some reading or meeting friends. Their coffee is always rich and smooth, and their pastries are a real treat--fresh, flaky, and just the right amount of sweet. Whether you're starting your morning or needing an afternoon pick-me-up, Tree City delivers every time. Definitely worth a visit!

It has been awhile since I stopped in Tree City Coffee and a lot has changed. It appears that the ambiance no longer matters with a mismatch of furniture and no cohesive design of the interior. While I was there, I got a feeling that Tree City is one bad month away from shuttering. It used to be a great study spot, but now it gives a repurposed restaurant feel in a bad way.
Like the interior, the coffee has gone downhill. It is lower quality beans, and ingredients. The cold foam appeared to be frothed milk and not heavy cream and the cold brew honestly was not that great. Overall their menu tastes like a Gen X developed it with the cheapest ingredients possible.
Service was okay, we didn't experience any issues or anything exciting.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Jack, thanks for taking the time to give us a review. All feedback, positive or negative, we really do appreciate. It can definitely get a little noisy during our rushes throughout the day (I think that's why some of our customers like to wear headphones). Typically early mornings and after 5 pm it quiets down a ton! I'm sorry you feel Tree City is commercial-like. I assure you we are a locally owned business who just put a lot of time and research into finding out what the community, and students of KSU are looking for in a coffee shop. I'm glad you're enjoying our breakfast sandwiches and the lox bagel! Thanks again for your feedback!
Aug 5, 2020Previous reviewBusy local coffee shop with some tasty drinks! We definitely frequent here and love their maple latte and cold brew. I stop here a few times a week for coffee on my way to work!
Their drive thru speed and accuracy could use some improvement. It seems like it takes a long time even when the line is empty. It also seems like there might be an issue with accuracy, they frequently ask me at the window what my order was and occasionally my drinks are not made correctly, likely from the accuracy issue.Jan 25, 2018Previous reviewNoisy atmosphere if you're looking for a good place to study.
Tree city feels more like a commercial coffee shop like Starbucks and less like an intimate coffee shop.
Their sandwiches are pretty good, I normally get their lox bagel. - Reiley F.OH, OH81018Sep 14, 2023
I stumbled upon Tree City years ago when they first opened and it's a hidden gem! The great atmosphere makes this coffee shop the perfect study or work spot. Visit this spot and you'll see why it's called Tree City!
I have to say I'm picky about my coffee and ESPECIALLY my oat milk. Tree City has the most consistently good iced oat milk latte that I've tried from the coffee shops in Kent.
Now, let's talk treats. Their unique cheesecake options are a must-try if you have a sweet tooth like me. As pictured, they also have other options to satisfy that craving!
The staff has always been a friendly bunch and accommodated any of my questions or requests. I can't for the next time I visit home and can try more of their quirky, seasonal options!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2023
Easy parking, Large space, delicious food, tasty coffee (but order it extra hot as it comes out tepid), dog friendly. The young man that was serving us at the cashier may have been having a bad day, but he could've been a little more friendly.

The place was promising, location is great, the building is nice.....then we walked in.
Walking in, you can tell the lack of details, from the confusing menu boards to the empty shelves. We've never been here, I can see the place it's trying to be or what it once was, but it isn't anymore or never was.
The bathroom was dusty....seems like the place can use a little de-cluttering. Maybe as an employee, walk in the customer shoes. Everything you allow your customers to see is your brand-standard.
The drinks weren't horrible but they weren't great either. As I look back now, I believe we ordered a caramel macchiato but got a salty Caramel instead. Not sure anymore as we ended up not finishing the drink.
The staff was friendly tho, Alexis and the guy that took our order. With all the other coffee options around Kent, this place would need to step up.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jon S.Kent, OH03Feb 16, 2024
Directions could be better followed. Rude employees and the customer service is lacking which makes us not want to return.
Nicer ambience and quality of coffee at other cafe's in the area. Try other coffee shops for a better experience before coming to this one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hanoch F.New York, NY40371Sep 26, 2023
Ok. Microwaved eggs. Espresso with no crema. But the third visit getting a red eye with a cup full of grounds made me write this.

The coffee was great, the customer service was meh..I prefer a smaller friendlier atmosphere but if you like to have a lot of space and no interaction with staff you'll like this place.
