Great customer service (everyone we've encountered at the front desk and housekeeping has been lovely) and a decent room as well. Spacious and well-equipped with a kettle (coffee and tea included), an ironing board & iron, decent storage (shelving, hangers), a fan for the warmer days, a heater for the cooler days (the windows are slightly openable to let in some fresh air, which was also appreciated), and a television. The bathroom included both a bath and shower, good lighting, and a large mirror, which I appreciated whilst getting ready for a night out.

The reception lounge has a full bar, coffee, lemon-refreshed water, and a restaurant & eating area. They also keep a fully-stocked box of coffee/tea/sugar refills available for you to restock your room supply.

The only major downside of the hotel was having to pay for wi-fi. Free wi-fi should just be a given when staying in a hotel, especially in this day and age. Some other slight nuisances were the absence of a hairdryer (thank god i brought my own; although they may keep them stocked at the front desk, I'm not sure) and no electrical outlets in the bathroom, with the exception of the "shavers only" one. The toiletries were also in the "lacking" department.

All in all, it's a good trade-off for a brilliant location in the Northern Quarter, a decent room, and lovely customer service.

The good things about this Travelodge are that it's right next to the city centre, and the Northern Quarter, yet still really easy to reach when driving into Manchester because of its location on the central ring road.

The things that aren't so good are that it's a Travelodge. That basically means a minimum amount of service, barely anything in the way of toiletries or anything like that and the same, bland room that you get in every single Travelodge hotel ever.

At least you know what you're getting, I suppose.

I stayed at this hotel for business for a week during October. The location is fantastic, right next to the city centre and the the Northern Quarter. There are restaurants and to-go's all round as well as a terrific corner market.

The manager, the front desk and housekeeping crew were friendly and accommodating. I arrived early from a transatlantic flight and they were thoughtful enough to get me into a room early and offered me a delicious, full English breakfast while I was waiting. My room was small and basic, but for me, even on a business trip, it was fine. As I stayed for business, WiFi was essential and buying it with my room, gave me a very reduced rate. The full English breakfast was a treat every morning!

Here's what earned the 5 star rating for me: the bed and the bedding. It was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. I have to go back next year for another week and I'll be staying here.

We've been to Scotland recently. My boyfriend's sister got married and we went there to celebrate the event, of course. We got a room at the Travel Lodge from Ayr, and I don't really have anything to complain about. I mean, the staff is really nice. They do clean everyday after you, and they clean properly. You can get an iron and an ironing board if you need one.

The room is pretty standard. Bed, chair, TV, bathroom...you know, nothing special. But because it's tiny and clean, gives you a good feeling. To be honest, probably I'll use the same chain of hotels, if it happens to be in a different city. Oh yeah, the cost as well. Not expensive for a hotel. Around 35-40 a night?! That's reasonable that. I recommend it. You can make your own coffee or tea in the morning. Unfortunately you can smoke inside, but that the law, not the hotel policy.

For a Travelodge, this was a great one! It has a convenient location in the Northern Quarter and simple but perfectly good rooms. We brought our own toiletries and enjoyed the free 30 min of wifi per day. For £38 a night this Travelodge was excellent! Most of the staff we adequate but one went way above and beyond being super friendly each day and even helped with printing our boarding passes for our flights which was fantastic! I'd recommend this Travelodge if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful in a good location.

Much like Wetherspoons, I actually don't mind Travelodges. They're cheap and you know what you're getting, and as much as I'd never been amazed by a Travelodge before, I'd never been disappointed. Until I stayed in this one.

I booked 2 rooms for me, my boyfriend and his family when we came up for his graduation. Although our room wasn't dirty, it looked old and worn out and we had to make several trips to reception to request items that should've been in our room, but weren't. I wasn't expecting a sewing kit and a shower cap, but a towel would've been nice. My boyfriend's Mum and Grandma were really disappointed with their room which was so boiling that they had to have their window open. The only problem was that their room was directly above Great Ancoats Street which was really noisy.

I could've dealt with these problems if it wasn't for the rudeness of the staff. We booked a taxi the night before, to take us to the University in the morning. Our booking was written on a request sheet by the member of staff. However, when the taxi didn't arrive, the staff were unwilling to phone it again, as we were assured that the lady the night before had taken care of it. It turned out they had lost the sheet and no-one had called a taxi, which resulted in us calling our own and only just making it in time for the graduation.

Oh, and there was a fire alarm at 6am. Not really their fault, but the whole procedure was disorganised with no clear instructions from the staff.

On the plus side, they heavily discounted our bill when I wrote to tell them about the above so I'll give them a star for that.

Managed to book the hotel for the £29 offer as we had tickets for the MEN theatre. The location is great as it is a five-ten minute walk to the theatre or to the town centre if you wanted to do shopping, etc. The room was neat and tidy and peaceful. There was a bar adjacent to the reception and I would have no hesitation in residing in this hotel again, or recommending it to others. Cheap and cheerful.
There was no private parking but several NCP car parks nearby in short walking distance.
The staff were very helpful as I had a number of questions and wanted advice regarding eating out, etc.

The Travelodge Manchester Ancoats is located about a 10 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station and a short, five minute walk from Piccadilly Gardens and the Arndale Centre.

I stayed at this hotel in July this year and was impressed with both the location and the service.

Although the hotel doesn't have much in the way of bars and restaurants within the immediate vicinity, it is only a short stroll to the heart of Manchester.

We had a family room for our stay and found it to be perfectly adequate for our needs - we had a double bed and a sofa bed in our room, along with TV, desk and chair, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite facilities.

We found the staff to be particularly friendly and helpful. The mattress on the double bed was far too soft and we mentioned this to the staff at reception who dealt with it quickly, apologising to us for any inconvenience caused.

We also had a meal here - there is a small cafe bar we used beside the reception. Although it is lacking in atmosphere and the menus is a little limited, you can get a reasonable meal here for around £7.

Rooms also have wireless internet available at a charge which I used and was impressed with - the service was reliable and easy to connect to.

I really enjoyed my stay at this Travelodge and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a hotel to stay at for a trip to Manchester - I paid £39 for the room but have seen it on offer for £19 during promotions.

If all your looking for is a safe, clean place to rest your head that is close to most central attractions then this place can't be beat. I managed to get one of their early bookings and two of us stayed here for £29 for the night.
The staff were friendly and the room was well appointed.
The location is great with the Northen Quarter full of interesting shops and cafes right around the corner.
To get to the Arndale Centre or Piccadilly train station takes about ten minutes on foot.
The next time I visit Manchester I would look here first for a cheap deal and would recommend it to friends and family.

This is ok to stay in if you have those special room offers. i wouldnt pay normal price for it though as you could get a much nicer hotel on late rooms or something. There is no parking unless you find an ncp in the city centre which bump the prices up and there is always some kind of building works going on so dont expect a lie in on a morning.
