If we could give half stars I would say that this would be a 3.5 star place. (I gave it 4 stars because this place isn't really a 3 star restaurant).
It's not the most amazing Chinese place I've ever been to but it's a pretty solid fast food Chinese place around here and is our go to for delivery/take out.
The employees are nice and easy to order from. They are pretty normal for delivery turn around.
Foodwise, I'd say their dishes are a on the heavier side with good portions. The dishes I've ordered are nice and saucy, well portioned and not dry (like some of the other places).
My fave so far would be their kung Pao chicken which are bigger chunks and not the smaller bits.
Least fave (I'm very particular) would be the hot and sour soup. No one around this part of town can seem to get it right (at least for me).
Note: they do require a $15 minimum for delivery.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - JC R.Henrico, VA31211Dec 7, 2023
Did not get what we ordered. Ordered General Tso with White Meat only, we got grizzle instead. Taste of the rest of the food was below subpar, ended up throwing it all away, $50 plus down the drain. Don't waste your money.

On this past weekend while on my journey towards finding the best Chinese food that RVA has to offer, I stumbled across Tops China. While I've been to a few Tops China locations in the area, this was the first time that I visited this particular location. Located in the heart of Midlothian, I had somewhat above expectations for this place. How did my experience go? To find out, read below.
The Good:
Price/Portion- I read some of the previous reviews that rave about the price and portion of what you get at this restaurant. Well that seemed to be about the only saving grace this restaurant had from me giving it a One Star. From the two items that I purchased, the price came to a little under $12. And I was full after finishing my meal.
The Bad:
Taste- I ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken Lunch Special and an order of Wings. The Sweet and Sour Chicken lacked any flavor whatsoever when there was no sauce on it. The pork fried rice was extremely dry. The chicken wings not only lacked seasoning but had a strange after taste. Almost as if the wings were just dipped in flour and dropped in boiling grease.
Overall- Yes this is a meal that can fill me up, but I know of a few other places in the area that serve far superior food while at similar costs. If you are someone who appreciates the quality of food and you can afford to spend a few extra bucks elsewhere then you might want do that. TWO STARS.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Phil P.Midlothian, VA712449Oct 15, 2017
First time there, very nice clean place, very nice people running the place. But we won't be back, the lomein was overcooked, the ribs undercooked, the egg foo young did not taste right, the stir fry vegetable was mostly onions, the egg rolls were too oily.

Good Chinese takeout. Always hot fresh and consistent with good portions. Nothing stands out particularly. It's the standard American Chinese menu you find in thousands of mom and pop joints everywhere. But far tastier than most local takeout and this one is the best of the Tops locations I've ordered from in the Richmond area. I'm a big fan of their Szechuan chicken.

This is our go-to Chinese take out place. The portions are always big for the price and quick to pick up. I love it because the food is always crispy when needed and saucy. The owners are so nice too! Love!

Love this place. We always get the pork fried rice, lemon pepper wings and crab rangoon. It's always fast and extremely flavorful. Best Chinese place around the area

This is normally one of the better Chinese Restaurants however today was way below the bar. The fried rice tasted like stale, mushy yellow rice. Very disappointed.

Do yourself a favor and order their lemon pepper wings. The best wings in the area by far!
