I'm going to start with the positives because there are several. The apple square was big, like a slab of square apple pie and was flavorful. The buttercrunch donut was good but the coconut wasn't entirely toasted so it was less appealing because I am not fond of the untoasted flavor of coconut. The bagel was ok but nothing special, lots of bacon on it and the cream cheese was somewhat plain but tasted good as a combo.
I was pleased with the presentation of everything...the sticker with my name in it, the way things were packaged, how the food looked. I wish I hadn't lifted the bagel out with the paper because I never would have seen the hair under the paper.
Did it touch the food? Prob not. Was it off putting? Absolutely. I threw the container away and pretended that I hadn't seen the hair, but easier said than done. I wrote this off as "stuff happens" but I wish they had noticed it before sending the food out the door.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 2024
My sister and I went to Top Donut to get some tasty treats and overall it was good. We got your standard strawberry frosting, glaze, Boston creme etc. Service was quick and friendly. I also got a hot chocolate that hit the spot! Recommend.

This was my first time trying Top Donut as it's a little far from my home, and I never really pass by this part of Lowell much. I told the worker it was my first time here and she kindly suggested me drinks and showed me a variety of flavors. Because Dunkins is the closest to me, I usually get an iced coffee with French vanilla swirl and mocha swirl, so I wanted to see what the difference was over here. She told me the French vanilla was brewed, so that's definitely a difference. I got a French vanilla iced coffee with mocha and regular cream and sugar. To my surprise, it's not overly sweet at all, contrary to how I look at Dunkin customers who get 20 pumps of swirl knowing how sweet it is. There's no crazy after taste, the coffee is very smooth. If I ever (and I probably won't) try drinking coffee black, I would get it here.
The donuts are so fresh and the perfect amount of sweetness. Glazed donuts are like a staple, and theirs is the best so far. It's huge, but fluffy and soft, and the amount of glaze is just right, compared to Donut Shack's overly sweet glaze. And you can tell it's freshly made everyday because of that slight taste of oil, unlike Dunkin' Donuts manufactured taste of their donuts.
The shop is big enough for a bunch of folks to just hangout and sip on coffee and nibble on their donuts. Feels very homey on the inside.
In conclusion, I'm going to have to travel the extra mile to get coffee next time!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thom C.Lowell, MA202353Jan 25, 2024

Donuts here are good!
-3 stars because I ordered some other donuts which they put in a bag and found a hair in it. The guy told me "it's not my hair" instead of the usual apology. They should wear hairnets here!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jan 7, 2023
Drove here after seeing the local Dunkin Donuts had a line out to the street for it. The drive thru only had me and one car behind me around 10:15 am ion a Saturday. Service was quick, $8 for half dozen donuts. Donuts were a hefty size and delicious. I also got a Vietnamese coffee which a good Vietnamese coffee just brings me back to life. My only wish is that they listed all their flavors outside at the drive thru - but I can't complain as the ones I randomly listed on the top of my head were available: jelly, boston cream, blueberry, chocolate frosted with sprinkles, apple fritter, and plain glazed. Definitely 10x better than Dunks and plus you'll be supporting a local business.

Lousy service, mediocre donuts and terrible drinks. Why bother to stay afloat with all the other better places. They can't compete with so many newer and better places. Should just shut this place down and do something else if they still have any profits left.

2.5/5
Pros:
-Inexpensive
-Lots of options, including old fashioned donuts
-Parking
-Restrooms (though oddly, they are single stall requiring keys and yet still gendered. For maximum utility, they should be changed to "restroom 1" and "restroom 2.")
-Seating
-Nice staff
Cons:
-Some donuts are dry and the glaze is a little too sweet or has a sweet aftertaste
--
Few patrons inside around 10:30AM and a short line on a Saturday.
Staff recommendation: marshmallow filled, chocolate frosted, honey dip
$8.50 for 6 donuts and a cinnamon twist
Glazed Chocolate Cake
Glazed chocolate cake donut. Light glaze with a slight crisp on the exterior and soft interior. In between dry and moist. Not overly sweet.
Coffee Roll
Yeast donut in the shape of a cinnamon roll, with cinnamon inside the layers. The yeast dough was light and fluffy. Light glaze that had a bit of an off-putting sweet aftertaste.
Plain Glazed
Glazed yeast donut. Also light and fluffy--similar in texture to a Krispy Kreme--but a bit too sweet.
Boston Cream
Chocolate frosted yeast donut with vanilla pudding inside. Good amount of filling, but couldn't really taste the chocolate.
Glazed Old Fashioned
Glazed old fashioned cake donut. Great texture--slight crisp on the outside and moist on the inside, but slightly too sweet.
Chocolate Frosted
Chocolate frosted yeast donut. Unfortunately this donut was super dry.
Cinnamon Twist
Pastry dough twisted with cinnamon filling. I thought this might be buttery after having a similar item at Honey Dew Donuts, but this was super chewy and dry and didn't taste buttery at all. It wasn't glazed, which I think contributed to some of the dryness.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - B H.Lakewood, CA081283Feb 3, 2022
Top Donut has the BEST donuts and pastry in town.
Don't waste your time at your local Dunkin' Donuts, where the donuts are made at some unknown location.
Drive the extra mile to Top Donut and you won't be sorry.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
