Okay, I have to give this place 5 stars because my in-laws own it.
But seriously - Phillipe's level french dips in the inland empire??? Who can argue with that?
The sandwiches are really yummy. Although I don't eat it, due to a personal fear/hatred of all things mayonnaise, the potato salad is legendary. And they have bottled beer and brownies for desert. You can either eat in (they have wi-fi!), or order to go. People have been coming here since the 40's and 50's, and tell us that they come in at Christmas just to get a french dip long after they have moved out of state.
Have the beef dip. And potato salad. And a huge dill pickle wedge. And be happy!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tony V.Surfside, CA1445824Nov 5, 2022
Nice folks. Good food. Neighborhood delight!
Had the French dip and tried the tuna sandwich. Both very tasty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alisa N.San Dimas, CA809480Oct 8, 2021
My boyfriend has been obsessed with French Dip sandwiches lately so I googled ocal restaurants that serves Turkey Dip sandwiches and discovered Tony's restaurant. We tried their Turkey Dip, potato salad, macaroni salad, and hot mustard.
We came in October 2021 and they are only open from 11am to 3pm. We arrived at 3:04pm and the ladies said we could still order food and dine in. We really appreciated her kindness when they should have started to lock up and close out. The staff said they were all out of Macaroni Salad but said they'd make a serving just for us, so sweet, they didn't have to do that.
We enjoyed out lunch and since we were the last customers for the day we were alone in the restaurant and got to chat with the staff a bit. We will definitely return, it's good food and friendly service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie B.West Covina, CA653Jan 19, 2023
The French dip and pastrami dip are the bomb, so is the macaroni salad. Haven't tried the potato salad nor coleslaw, but if the rest is good.. so must the 2 salads

The French dip sandwiches here are some of the best. This place has the best potato salad hands down ever!! I have been eating here for a long time, grew up in the area. I ate here a few years ago and it was not that good, but lately it is back on. The family/ workers here are great and personable. Always a good lunch spot. Support small local business.

I read a news article about this place in the inland Valley Daily Bulletin about the employee that's been there for 46 years. I honestly didn't know this place existed until this morning and I've been in Pomona all my life! I love Philippe's in LA but I will not be going all the way over there just for a French dip anymore! The place was cute too and even has the sawdust on the floor with the red plaid table cloths.
The 2 ladies (including the star of said article) were THE SWEETEST! We let them know it was our first time there and they made their suggestions. We totally put our lunch in their hands and they did not disappoint!
We got the 50/50 (1/2 beef, 1/2 pastrami), provolone cheese, potato salad, macaroni salad, and of course a fresh crunchy pickle. We devoured our sandwhiches and vowed to come back. No more Philippe's for us. Wish I would have taken pictures but it was too late! Lol!
Tip: The potato salad was way better than the Mac salad. (Neither of them are sweet either)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christian C.Pomona, CA4623Oct 10, 2021
Good French dip but would like to see a softer bun and a deeper au jus sauce. The women running the cou yer is great. Good customer service.

Little hidden gem in Pomona since 1958! If you like Phillipe's DTLA/Chinatown, but hate the commute/traffic? Then this is your place to fill your "old school" french dip, pastrami, corned beef, grinder sandwich craving!

Lunch date with my daughter. My first time here, we were greeted warmly by the kind lady behind the counter. The setting is old school with plenty of seating, tables with checkered tablecloths and sawdust floors.
They offer a Happy Hour lunch special for $9 which includes a sandwich (Ham, Turkey, or Roast Beef), choice of potato, macaroni or coleslaw and a drink. I chose the turkey sandwich with Provolone, potato salad with a pickle. The sandwich was served warm in a soft French roll. They are generous with the meat portion and charge extra for cheese. The sandwich was very good, but I really loved their potato salad it was delicious, and the pickle added a nice touch too.
I'd definitely recommend Tony's. It was a very good lunch. Looking forward to trying their French Dip next time I'm in Pomona.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maurice K.San Dimas, CA2932928Nov 14, 2020
Tony's Famous French Dips restaurant is in an isolated, industrial area of Pomona and isn't exactly hipster heaven or a tourist trap. But if you, like me, have a belly made for feasting on hot meaty, flavorful beef and pastrami French Dip sandwiches on onion and French rolls, with decent- sized pickles, and tangy potato salad, this is an eatery that you MUST visit. The ladies behind the counter are friendly and fast, and it feels like you're ordering from hosts who are happy to see you satisfied. Dining inside is not an option because of gubernatorial, county, and municipal pandemic lockdown restrictions but there are two red- and- white- checkered tablecloth- covered tables flanking the entrance. Tony's has been a local culinary institution since 1958. Keep this piece of paradise in business.

This place is so cute and has the nicest ladies running the shop. The food is made with love and traditional comfort food. We ordered the French dip, pastrami dip both with the side of potato salad. The sandwiches were fresh and sooo tasty! The potato salad is by far the best potato salad I have ever had! We also got a side of tuna salad and egg salad which were classic and amazing! This place I found on Yelp between baseball games, if I am ever in this area again I will definitely be returning! So much love and flavor in the food
