Los Angeles and Southern California is the origin for a lot of iconic fast food chains. Some of them are destined to make it global while others flourish locally.

One of the powerhouse local chains is Original Tommy's and the location at Beverly and Rampart is the first of their 32 locations throughout Los Angeles (and a few in Las Vegas).

The original Original Tommy's sits on a sprawling corner lot with an overflow parking lot right next door so parking is quite easy. While lots of LA shuts down at night, Original Tommy's remains a 24 hour destination. They have a broad but simple menu which includes breakfast items (I hear their breakfast burrito is a great option). They do not have traditional seating. Instead, they have a variety of counters you can post up at to enjoy your meal.

When I go, I focus on the chili cheeseburger. The one I had on this visit was a glorious, chili and cheese packed messy hamburger and I wouldn't want it any other way.

The chili is filling and has a great, thick, meaty texture. The cheese can't help but melt everywhere and adds a rich, creamy flavor. The burger patties are well cooked. I love the thick slice tomato that sits on top, adding a cool crunch to the burger.

Since chili is their staple and what makes them unique, I also got it on the fries. The fries are thick cut and when loaded up with a very generous serving of chili, it makes a great snack.

The service was fast, friendly and efficient. I had my order within minutes of placing it and I enjoyed it fresh and piping hot, standing at one of their counters. If you have been in LA a while and haven't had Original Tommy's, you really should check them out. They have been serving LA for a long time for a very good reason!

A classic in LA since 1946. I have been to Tommy's many times and it's always consistently really good. I honestly think they have some of the best veggies of any of the burger chains. Their tomato is always extremely fresh and snappy. They are most famous for their chili, which is honestly great, but everything else is really good as well. This location does not have a drive-through but they have multiple parking lots so parking is really easy. It's to-go only, but many choose to eat in the standing room only area near where you pick up the food. They do not have tables inside. The prices are very fair and service is very fast so it really is a really convenient option.

Today I chose to do the Triple Chili Burger and a side of Chili Fries. They both really hit the spot and I definitely was not hungry after finishing them. I love how they put mustard on their burgers and every time I go to Tommy's it's always consistently good and makes me want to stop in more often. I would recommend and would say it's one of the better burger chains in Los Angeles.

Today I went to the get the special for the chilli fries that they have and special and the guys are very rude unprofessional they didn't want to return my money back and they charge it as regular price and they said business is business!
The manager Julio was so rude as well that could help with the situation and said the same thing this was my favorite place to come eat. I been eating here for years and today I decided not to buy at this restaurant because of their rude employees. They should change management!
So inappropriate!

This is such a gem of a place. I'm not a fan of their chili or fries, tbh, but super appreciate their solid burger, with fresh tomatoes, and solid service for us late nighters. I order here often and get the food delivered super fast but on an off chance I was sober at 2am, I drove over here to pick up my food and was impressed by how they had a system going to keep things moving and saving idiots from themselves. The guys who manned the pick up line were nice to me.. so yeah they get 5 stars. This is the stuff that doesn't have competition in the skirts of east side LA and wish more of LA stuck to its roots and maintained price and quality like Tommy's.

One Bucket List food spot completed! Tommy's has always been a dream spot of mine to try, but we are hours away from LA. Luckily, we were taking a trip and we're gonna be in the area for a few days! Happened to order delivery one night at my hotel and had to try Tommy's! Worth it!

Best Chili Cheeseburger I've ever had! Had to share my Chili Cheese fries with my wife, she's a chili connoisseur, and she even said, Tommy's has the BEST Chili! At the end of my meal, I was so happy, so full and will definitely be making this a go-to trip the next time we're in town! I can't imagine how good it will be when we get it straight from the counter! But I can tell you, from a delivery order stand point, food was fresh, warm and did not disappoint! Tommy's is the only place for chili!

After a late night out it's a staple to hit up Tommy's or just for a classic chilli cheese combo in general. My friends and I have not been here in years but suddenly got a craving. I love how it's just a simple menu simple set up with a little order hut then you eat in your car or standing around the parking lot.

We ordered chilli cheese fries and a chili cheese burger. I forgot how much I enjoyed the burger. It's not just chilli on a burger the combination of mustard n pickles with chili is the best. It just works together.

Tommy's is definitely a staple here in LA. I remember first time eating here when I was a kid, my dad would take me here every weekend.

Haven't had them in a while but my wife was craving some chili cheese fries and it's so nostalgic! Same taste and great flavors! Came here around 6 and it was pretty empty! Also the food comes out super quick, literally came out the same time I got my receipt

You can eat outside standing or enjoy outside your car!

Tommy's Burgers whis is an absolute gem in the world of burgers is one of my all-timefavorite go to spots. Their signature chili is what dreams are made of--rich, flavorful, and a perfect complement to their juicy burgers. I know its not the healthiest thing in the world However, life is too short to not endulge once in a awhile. Whoever has had the pleasure of eating these amazing burgers knows that the combination creates an explosion of taste that keeps you coming back for more. The ambiance might be no-frills, but the food is top-notch. A definite must-try for any burger or chili enthusiast! The price is right and the experience is priceless.

I'm from the Central Valley and traveled south for a funeral. Before I headed back home my cousin told me that he always goes to Tommy's so he took me. Me and my son both ordered a double cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. The hamburger was good but the chili cheese fries were some of the best chili cheese fries I've ever had. My son doesn't like Chili on anything. I was shocked when he told me, he also liked the chili cheese fries. We stood up and ate on the counter that is connected to the building. The weather was perfect and so was my experience. The food was out quick and freshly made. I told my wife about it and now we are going to take a trip back really soon.

Been coming through here since my pre-teen years. This place gave me my first experience of what a chili burger is and it has since set the bar for any other place that offers it.

Imitated but never duplicated, decades later, it's still my favorite chili burger place.

I had fam visiting through and I know they just happen to be chili fiends. There is nothing like this where they hail from, and although there's a spot closer to home, I had to bring them to the original - the place that started it all.

We came on a mid-week pre-lunch rush so there was no issue finding parking on-site and lucked out enough to avoid the lunch rush crowd.

Our food came through quickly since there was no one ahead of us when we placed our orders. I went for my usual double with no cheese. Yes, it is messy, and yes, you will need tons of napkins, and a final yes, you will risk staining your clothes, so be prepared! The recipe hasn't changed much, if at all - it's still good! - and neither has the eating area. I explained to fam that part of the experience is eating while standing by the ledge. We were all quiet for a few minutes as we all gobbled up our grub!

FOOD: 5. Consistency is key!
SERVICE: 3.5.
VALUE: 3.5. Still worth it.
PARKING: Private lot on site as well as across the street. Shouldn't be an issue.
OVERALL: 4.

This run certainly brought back tons of memories. My guests were happy with what they got as well as the experience. The only thing left were the fries which we snacked on while driving to the next tourist spot.

Glad to know they're still thriving after 75+ years! Looking forward to future visits!
