We decided to get something quick from Tobu during our trip earlier this month since the sample we tried was delicious. My husband got white rice with bourbon chicken and orange chicken and extra bourbon sauce on his rice. I got lo mein, fried rice and bourbon chicken with extra sauce on my fried rice. I saw the 2 entree meal was what we were getting that was like $8.50 (extra for a 2nd meat) and I asked about a 1 entree meal. The employee said that was like $1 more than the 2 entree meal so they encourage people to do the 2 entree. The employee was a bit intense. She didn't try to make small talk with us at all and had a furrowed brow the whole time we were ordering.
The food was about what you would expect from a mall spot. I saw they had sushi and I'm not sure if mall sushi should be trusted but I'd definitely do the veggie rolls. The bourbon chicken was slightly burnt but overall it was decent. The fried rice and lo main were average. I didn't even end up finishing my food because it wasn't worth the calories.Helpful 32Thanks 0Love this 23Oh no 0 - Feb 24, 2024
This is your typical cafeteria style asian food eatery, similar to panda express. It is located in the Fashion Mall at Keystone, so there is more than ample parking available. Being that it is located in a food court. There is lots of seating available as well. The restaurant usually has someone standing out front of the counter, giving away free samples. The staff was nice enough, but my interaction with them was limited.
The restaurant serves quick asian food such as General Tso Chicken, Bourbon Chicken, California sushi rolls, Tuna Rolls, Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Spicy Chicken and mixed veggies. I feel that the food is a bit pricey for what you get, but oh well.
I got the bourbon chicken and spicy chicken with noodles. I also got a side of plantains, 2 egg rolls and some Chinese donuts. The food was already prepared so all they had to do was package it. I ate in the food court. The food was Ok. Nothing special. But I do not expect much from mall food court eateries anyway. It was warm, but did not taste super fresh. The chicken portions were small and they loaded the container with mostly noodles.
This is an ok spot to get some asian fusion food if you happen to be in the Fashion Mall at KeystoneHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amy M.Owensburg, IN6376Dec 19, 2023
My girl Cailyn introduced me to Tobu and Thank God. Not your ordinary mall asian food. Food is always fresh and on point when I have gone. The Orange Chicken is my fave followed by the Bourbon Chicken.

1. When I walked up at 10:40am, I asked an employee, "good morning! Are you open?"
The response was, "I think so".
"I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you open for orders right now?"
"Yes, I think so"
2. I ordered a salmon poke bowl. It was primarily white rice with four thin and meager slices of salmon. I order poke often....I've never seen such a small amount of salmon in a bowl.
Frankly, this left me disappointed and frustrated.
After reading the other reviews:
1) I should have read them first as I wouldn't have come here;
2) truly, I hope they go out of business.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina H.Raleigh, NC7121Jan 15, 2023
Deceptive pricing - they advertise $12 for a two side entree, but each chicken side was "an extra $1," so the total for some rice and (I swear maybe) 8 pieces of chicken was $14+

$17 for hardly any food. Do not go!!!! Management needs to give more food or charge less. Embarrassing. Will never be back until fixed.

The manager (Anna) insisted on treating me (paying customer) poorly. I tried to order a 2 entree plate and the manager (Anna) REFUSED TO GIVE ME A PLATE and tried to force my food into a small box. I explained for 5 minutes I want a plate with no sides so I can dine in. She persisted in forcing me to use a box, until my fiancé stepped in and I walked away after that point.
The orange chicken is mostly skin, the bourbon chicken flavor was good but overall was ok at best.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 18, 2017First to Review
Tobu opened on Black Friday and they are a part of the same company as Asian Chao, Maki of Japan, Sushi Fuji, and Chap Cajun. (One in Castleton Square Mall)
They two ladies working were super friendly and offered us samples of anything in the line. After trying a couple of things, I got the combo which is $7.99 pre tax and I got Lo Mein, Bourbon Chicken, and two Rangoons.
The Rangoon is just cheese, not crab. They were filled decently and was very creamy but delicious. The Lo Mein is not your typical greasy/oily noodles from most Chinese take out places and I appreciated that. However, it lacked some flavor. But again, I liked that I didn't feel bad after eating it. The bourbon chicken is sweet and tender. They're the same pieces you'd get as a sample in the mall.
I would definitely come back for a quick and filling lunch!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Colleen G.Indianapolis, IN03Dec 28, 2022
I got so sick from this place! Made the mistake of ordering sushi from this establishment while shopping on Christmas Eve and ended up with the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All of my symptoms match salmon poisoning. I found it odd that they had plastic "display" sushi and that I could not see the rolls being prepared. Who knows how old the rolls were that they gave me. Customer service was poor as well. It's clear they do not care about the food they are serving. Stay away! It's not worth the risk!

Our first time eating here, we want to try it out. Long wait and the service was inconsistent. The Lo Mein they have it's not even the right noodles, why would you use spaghetti noodle for lo mein?! The vegetables had dirt in them it wasn't washed correctly! The bourbon chicken had really dark char to it, it means the grill wasn't cleaned constantly! I would not recommend coming here! It's not worth your money, it was a waste and we got ripped off. Food was bad! Don't waste your time!
