We've been back a few times over the years and things have improved.
The last time we were in we went on a last-minute Valentine's Dinner Date with no reservation. The hostess was able to get us a table in the bar area quickly, and they even offered us the Valentine's Day special, even though we didn't have said reservation.
We ate off the regular menu and were taken care of by the manager (assistant? floor? not sure). Our drinks were never allowed to get close to empty, our food came out within 25 minutes even though the restaurant was packed, and everything was perfectly cooked.
It's a spendy date night, but if the food quality and service continue to be good like this, we will definitely be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 26, 2015Previous reviewThis review is in no way a reflection of the service that we received as our waitress was did a great job of connecting with us, making advisement's, and of checking in. Unfortunately the let down here, was the food.
We at down to our weekly date night at 5:00 and spent some time taking a look at the menu. We ordered the Buffalo Chips to try and they were actually quite good! I thought that if this was a reflection of their food than the rest of supper ought to be pretty darn good!
I was wrong.
My fiance ordered the sirloin filet medium rare with french fries and a side of ranch. I ordered the classic southern brisket platter and asked for a side of bbq. We also got an order of french onion soup to share. The soup was also delicious, and so was the bread that they bring you for the entree. But our food was... a disaster.
My brisket was bone dry, and yes I understand that it is cooked on a rotisserie, but it was burnt to the point that it didn't taste like brisket on the edges. My fiance's steak was more well done than anything, lacked any discernible seasoning, the fries were only ok, and there was no ranch dressing on the side so we had to ask for it a second time. Question for the chef's here, on what planet should a baked potato be served with a butter/sour cream ratio that was far larger than the amount of potato? The entire meal was very very disappointing. We didn't complain, we just paid our check and left.
This is one of the restaurants in Owatonna that I feel should be so much better than this. They have a great location, great decor, and wonderful front of house staff, but this isn't the first time I've had issues with the food here, it just so happens that it will be my last. - Juan S.SC, SC03Apr 23, 2024

Went out for a late lunch on a Sunday. Our waitress was very nice, but we had to wait several minutes for our drinks to be refilled. Food took a very long time to get. Thankfully my pasta (Steak & Mushroom) was delicious. The sauce was one of the best pasta sauces I've ever had. Sadly not all of my steak tips was cooked the same...some were medium and some were medium-well. The wild rice soup was decent. I liked the wooden cabin feel. The Christmas lights intertwined with tinsel was somewhat odd for summer

Had a long wait to be seated, which we were expecting as it was a holiday. We were told it would be a 25-30 minute wait. At 40 minutes we went to the counter to see how much longer only to find out they had just forgotten about us. 5 minutes later we were seated.
Took over an hour to get food, once we got it it was bland, over done, and cold. None of us finished our food. Manager offered a pitiful discount, and we left feeling robbed as this place is not cheap.
The bread and 1919 on tap was good, but that's about the only positive thing I can say. Overall just a sucky experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 21337756Feb 18, 2022
The service was awesome we were seated immediately. The menu selection had numerous options for any taste. The soup of the day was chicken and wild rice, it had an excellent flavor. and It is the perfect size to start the meal. The bread and honey butter were hot and tasty. The steak was cooked to perfection.

Good steak that is 100% cooked right with a delicious au jus.
The Bloody Mary is alright but doesn't have enough toppings.
The Moscow mules is also pretty good.
The water glass is a basic one but worthy of 3 stars as it fits the environment.
I'd recommend this place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erika F.Tucson, AZ035Oct 1, 2023
Ate here twice, coming and going from Voyageurs National Park (we stayed at the Comfort Inn across the street). Enjoyed all the meals: walleye, ribeye, pork chop and 1/2 chicken with green beans and potatoes as sides. We got take out but the food was prepared timely and packaged well. Only quibble: greasy french fries. Good Value.

First of all, our server Tabitha was fantastic. By no fault of hers, a cook quit this morning... we sat there as a party of 4 for over an hour... while watched others get their food. She apologized and was visibly shaken. She said the manager was even back there helping the cook that was left. At no time did the manager ever come out to apologize. Instead he put it on our server. Unacceptable. We ended up leaving without being served our food. We will never return and actually warned a party of five that was on their way in.... So they went next door to famous Dave's. Man up, manager.

Service was great but for a steakhouse they should have a good steak and they don't. I ordered the center cut sirloin 7 ounce and it was tough and had to be brought out twice because they overcooked it the first time. If you're looking for a good steak look elsewhere. Expensive for the quality!

Food was okay, service was good. Very quiet atmosphere. Not sure if I would go back.
