"Come on woman, gonna treat you right
Give you candy kisses every single night
I got a sweet, sweet tooth for you"
(Roy Orbison)
There's a few things you should know about Thorncrest Chocolates.
Their retail store is about as small a retail store as I have ever seen. The number of customers inside is regulated. There were 5 inside yesterday (including our two) and you could barely walk around to look at the selections.
They are expensive- go on their website and see what I mean.
They produce over 168 different kinds of chocolate on a rotating basis. They publish a weekly menu, so their chocolates vary every week depending on seasonal availability of fresh herbs, fruits, pumpkins, proximity to a special Holiday flavors, or even which of their cow's milk is used, because their cows' milk has different flavor profiles.
For example, their cow named Daydream produces a naturally sweet milk that's perfect for caramels. The milk from a cow named "Supreme" is very buttery and works great with dark and white chocolate.
Their motto is "the magic is in the milk". Their cow barns are designed to maximize the "comfort and happiness" of their cows. The cows are lined up in their stalls so their heads and tails align with the magnetic field of the Earth. The barn is designed so a cross breeze ventilation relaxes the cows. Takeaway this -a relaxed stress-free cow yields better milk and superior tasting chocolate.
We bought three of their chocolate products - a 3 ounce dark chocolate bar, a 1.5 ounce milk chocolate mini bar, and an 8 ounce box of Neopolitan bark. Everything totaled $35.
I just tasted a square of the milk chocolate and I have to say it was fantastic. I don't know which cow was responsible for it, but I can't wait to try the rest of our purchase!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Susan W.Sayville, NY082Dec 26, 2023
Attention Chocolate Lovers!! You have never tasted Chocolate like this!! They treat their cows like people & use their milk to produce the most delicious chocolate. They even grow their own sweet hay to feed these beautiful cows.
I bought several boxes for my family for Christmas & everyone agrees there is no better chocolates.
Check out their website & order from them directly. They make different flavors according to the seasons.
I just finished the Root Beer milk chocolate & yesterday I had the Apple spice. There aren't any preservatives in them so I have to finish them by the end of the week OH MY! I guess I'll just have to do what I have to do!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anthony C.FL, FL102396Dec 21, 2023

Fully five star unique experience of a place. You can go check out the cows, learn about how they built the barn to encourage swallows to move in which mean no flies. After meeting the cows, you can then buy chocolate made from a specific cows milk. Honestly though, we got to try a bunch of different types of chocolate and it was all incredible. My only complaint is that to preserve it's freshness ... you really can't drive wtih it in a car in July for 6+ hours. Also - it ain't cheap,,, but we all know the song "It costs so much because it takes me f*ing hours"
I will be back. I just wish it was closer to home.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - David H.Danbury, CT5298594Jun 11, 2023
This is a delightfully unique high-end chocalatier that offers the most beautiful hand made chocolates. A very large variety of gift boxes and bags of chocolate brittle are also available. They also sell individual chocolates with very artistically created designs. If you're looking for a gift that will be remembered, this is the place

I'm visiting family currently and they took me here for some sweets. We didn't get to go inside since it closed earlier than expected but got to see some cows and buy some chocolate. They had a good range of different chocolate to buy and you can create your own box of whatever you like. I liked how they decorated and designed some of them and the people there were really nice! The actual chocolate store was pretty small so only a few people at a time can actually go in but they have mini menu you can look at and see what you wanted to pick out while you wait. Chocolate was good and would come back again perhaps try to get a tour of the barn next time.

Somewhat local to me, but I have never been here. I've heard great things about the chocolates. Beautiful location with a gorgeous barn, couldn't visit the cows today because it was not a visitor day. Went in the tiny shop to pick out chocolates with some eager teens! A fan favorite of the kids was the Root-beer flavor and the peanut butter chocolate. The kids also had some vanilla farm fresh milk that they said tasted like melted ice cream, needless to say that was a hit! My personal favorite was the milk chocolate caramel with sea salt. Absolutely perfect! We picked up some gifts for friends. The chocolates all come beautifully boxed! Flavors are always changing and they list a menu on their website.
Till next time!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 701631505Aug 23, 2022
I've visited Thorncrest Farm and Milk House Chocolates several times over the years. I wanted to share my thoughts as I stopped by recently. I often tell people, of all the chocolate I've ever eaten in my life, nothing compares to the amazing quality, creaminess, and beauty of Milk House chocolates. They are simply unmatched and one of a kind. The chocolatier, Kim, is incredibly talented. I've gotten to talk to her a few times and I remember her sharing how intricate and delicate the chocolate making process is and how well they care for their cows. The farm is just gorgeous. It's beautiful at every season, in any type of weather, but my favorite times to visit are fall and winter-especially if it's flurrying. It's so picturesque and is a quintessential New England area.

Visited Thorncrest and can honestly say this is the creamiest chocolate I have ever had. The farm is tucked away down a country lane and is absolutely worth the trip. Loved the milk labeled with the names of the cows who contributed to the batch. Picked up a white peppermint bark, delish.

I have been wanting to come here for years and finally made it yesterday! So sad I've missed out all this time. It really is that good! I'll be back for sure.
Their cranberry dark chocolate bar is totally different and I was glad my husband selected and shared it with me! Yum!
Due to Covid, you can't go in the shop, but it was totally fine. You can look into the bar and enjoy the beautiful area while eating some finely crafted chocolate!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
