Thistle Electric

I don't really have much to say other than Thistle is hands down the best for electrical work. Like most other folks here, we got an electric car and had a super old panel that needed updating to accommodate the plug (it needed updating even prior to the EV - super, super old and rusty). Thistle came in middle of the road for the quote, not the cheapest, and not the priciest either. But before even getting started, Jerry negotiated with SCE to get them to back down from requiring us to move our panel to another side of the house, which saved us thousands of dollars - that alone was a lifesaver, and done before we paid a dime.

I feel like owning an older home (or a home in general) on a strict budget can be so stressful when you have to hire someone because you never know what you're going to uncover and what it will cost you. Jerry and his team walked us through it all and then some, and we got an updated, neat and efficient electrical system + EV plug. Thank you guys!!

Jerry and his team of 2 electrician just finished the installation of my Tesla wall connector. The communication started well with e-mail exchange between Maria and I with clear instructions to take pictures of my existing electric panels. Then they proceeded to schedule the install very timely, with daily communication and follow up. Very impressed.
The team of 3 arrived to my house on time, they all wore mask, they explained clearly what they would do. They made sure I understood well and we did check some of the breakers. After a 2 hour install, everything was ready to go. They made sure the charger was connected to my wifi, we testing the charging and it was at full capacity. They touched the breakers to make sure they were not over heated and we tested my house lights again to make sure they turned on. They patched my wall and which was appreciated since they are electricians, not painters.
The price was the same as agreed during our early phone call, no surprise. The invoice was clearly detailed with everything that was done and not done. The crew was very nice and polite and eager to help. I was very impressed by the service and quality of the installation.
I would absolutely recommend them and use them again. Jerry is very professional and won't leave until everything is perfect!

I called on Thistle Electric to help with a 240v outlet install for an EV charger. I can be pretty picky with contractors, so I researched a bit before choosing who I thought was the best choice. I'm not always right, but I was definitely right to choose Thistle Electric for my EV charger needs.

Gerry was my main contact and he spent a lot of time explaining things to me. Even before sending me a quote, or scheduling the work, he seemed to care enough to call me and explain my needs based on photos I emailed.

My job involved routing 100 feet from my outdoor electrical panel into the garage where I wanted to charge my car. I was very impressed how the crew did the work, keeping the area neat, and running the conduit in such a way that it looked super clean and professional.

Price was reasonable. Scheduling was easy. These guys are the real deal.

After buying an EV/Hybrid vehicle, we realized that our house (being built in the 50s) only had a 100amp main panel.

Fast forward 3 weeks after getting quotes from 4-5 different companies, I landed with Thistle and I am extremely happy I did.

Gerry and his crew (from the very start with email communications to get an estimate and rough pricing) all the way to the final minute on the job, we're extremely professional. They were on time, wore masks, did great work, and left the space clean. They upgraded our main panel from 100 to 200 amps, installed an EV charger in our garage, and lastly replaced a few old bathroom fans.

Throughout the entire process they kept me in the loop with time frames, work progress, and next steps.

I will absolutely use Gerry and his crew for all of my future electrical work and will refer everyone who needs work to him.

Hard to find good and genuine help (and people) these days, but Thistle is definitely the answer to our south bay electrical work needs.

We had Thistle install a ChargePoint EV charger and replace our 1956 Zinsco electrical panel, which we discovered was potentially dangerous.

We found Gerry to be extremely responsive during the entire process, which involves not only us but the utility company (SCE) and the city (Torrance).

SCE was terrible to work with, not only delaying our project by dropping the ball (not having an inspector follow up after a technician opened the meter, skipping an inspector appointment without any notice), but by sending a seemingly inexperienced inspector who initially insisted that our entire electrical panel had to be moved! Imagine the cost of rewiring essentially the entire house. After letting Gerry know about this, he apparently schooled the SCE inspector, who finally approved a panel upgrade in the current location ... but SCE cost us a three-week delay.

The electricians from Thistle always showed up on time and worked the entire day. Always pleasant, they clearly regarded us as their *customer*. You could hear them on the phone with Gerry, who while not present 100% of the time, obviously stayed entirely on top of the installation work. Gerry got the Torrance work permit and met with the inspector for the final approval. The wiring in the panel could easily be considered artwork with everything neatly bent, routed, and zip-tied in place ... perfect evidence of the electricians awesome skills!

And of course the EV charger works fine!

We had Thistle install a NEMA 14-50 Tesla Charge Port in our garage. They had to run a 100 foot line from the panel in the backyard, through the house (via the attic) and out to the garage.

Thistle was quick to respond to my request. They came out initially to inspect the property to ensure that the work could be done. The employees at Thistle, especially Gerry, were all very professional. When they walk into the house, they put on booties over their shoes and lay mats on the floor to keep things clean.

This was a multi-day job, and some of the days were interrupted by rain. Thistle did a great job of communicating to me each day, if there would be work done. And once the rain stopped, they came back and finished the job (which happened to be New Years Eve).

All of the work looks really good, and everything worked great.

Thistle came recommended from my parents, who also had a NEMA 14-30 Tesla Charge Port installed in their garage by Thistle.

Overall, Thistle is very professional, they do good work, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them for any electrical work.

Gerry, the owner, and his crew were friendly, knowledgeable, skilled, reasonably priced, and did a wonderful job installing our Tesla Wall Charger. They mounted wires, ran pipes, inserted a support board, and were very familiar with all things electrical relating to Tesla. We hired Thistle based on the great reviews and they were right on. Thanks for the recommendations and I'd hire them again without hesitation.

I've had Thistle Electric Corporation for EV charger installation and 200 amp panel upgrade. I can't recommend Gerry more. He's a true pro, super easy to work with and knowledgeable. His team is also experienced and helpful. Gerry cares about the quality of his workmanship and that's a rarity these days. His admin Maria is also super responsive and helps keep the communication going between us smoothly. They're a great team.

Upgraded panel to 200A and installed a Tesla wall charger. Everything was scheduled quickly and easily. Gerry and his crew did a great job with the installation and the wiring looks so neat and tidy. Gerry also gave a recommendation for a stucco guy Andres who also did a great job. Passed inspections with flying colors!

Couldn't be more pleased with the install of our Tesla Charger. Gerry and his crew were prompt and professional. They did a very clean install through our garage wall and ran conduit all the way back to main panel. Pricing was very competitive and they come recommended from Tesla for Los Angeles area.
