The Well

This is a cool spot. A really cool spot. I made an appointment on a whim because I live nearby and it seemed like a legit hair spot, one that stood out after scouring through tons of options all over LA.

As soon as I walked in, I just immediately trusted Rolando. I decided for sure I would go for 5-6 inches off and after asking him for quick advice, simply, "Should I go for bangs or not?" he took one look at my face shape, said I should, and again I just trusted him with no question. It's the first time I have had bangs in years, and where I actually got excited during each phase of the cut (instead of scared) as he progressed with each snip.

After he styled my hair like the pro he is, I looked in the mirror and saw a completely different woman. He was right...bye bye plain Jane, hello fresh start. Right in time for my new job which I was starting that week.

So glad I stopped by! Cuts start at $100, which is totally reasonable especially compared to other salons of this caliber. Plus, here there is no scene, no attitude, no pretension. I found my new spot.

Made an appointment with " Abraham" in behalf and recommendation from Mr. CURT DARLING. I came here for partial highlights. From the time I walked in _ the Front Desk( Karie) was very pleasant. Abraham took all time and attention and very well explains what he is about to do next, not like other stylists-- just keep u guessing how long and what's happening. With Abraham, he makes u comfortable . He is very pleasant and very accommodating. He makes sure that I like what I see. And he is willing to correct them if it's not up to my satisfaction. -, WELL' ?!!!??... now I found my New BFF !!

Just got my hair done yesterday by the very skilled, patient, and amazing Jenelle.


Booking is very easy. You can do it online or by phone. They have an excellent and caring staff that always coordinates your appointment with ease. Any questions you have about the cost and time they will be happy and knowledgeable to to answer.

First I'll talk about the location which is awesome. It's conveniently located in DTLA close to Staples Center and the FIDM. There is easy parking behind , and there's a lot which you can park all day at.

When you get in, it's a huge open space that also doubles as a retail store. Lots of quality designed well made jewelry, shoes, home accessories, and clothing.

The salon itself and sleek and clean. Overall a positive energy - everyonne on the staff is easy going and professional. Plus awesome tunes playing everytime I go.

Ive been working with Jenelle for about half a year now, and she had above and beyond reached my expectations. I first went in for touch up color and highlights for my ashblonde hair and she was kind enough to walk me through everything and make sure I was comfortable with her process. The amazing thing is that Jenelle is very busy , but still took her time with me to make sure I was happy with the end result .

I did a full color redo yesterday since my roots were a terrible 5-6 inches long and the mid length of my hair had already went crazy. Jenelle is a total pro, and if you show her a picture she magically makes it happen.

Also my hair is somehow silkier and smoother than it's ever been . After 4 hours or processing I was very afraid my silver blonde hair would be a mess, but she made sure I left with stellar soft and bouncy new color.

EVERYONE has been complimenting me non stop ( Even men who never notice anything ) . not only does it look great but everyone wants to reach out and touch it since it is so glorious.

This place is worth going out of your way to if you arent in DTLA, and if you are you should make an appointment now!!

Getting Asian hair platinum can be a difficult ordeal, in the past taking multiple sessions of 5+ hours, so when I came to see Elise at the Well I was blown away that she was able to get my black hair to platinum blonde in 4 hours without destroying it. I've been seeing her now for almost two years, going platinum blonde every 2-3 months. People comment on how healthy my hair looks all the time. She's also great with a hair cut and is super careful, detail oriented, and takes her job seriously. She doesn't just slap some bleach on your hair and call it a day. She's meticulous. I've seen the other stylists at the Well and they're also great, but I she's who I recommend to friends who asked how I got my hair this white!

The salon itself is in a cool creative space that sells clothes, always plays amazing music, and the products they use are high quality (Oribe). I never feel pressured to buy anything and everyone is just really cool and chill. It's hard to find a great stylist, so I'm so happy I found one close to home!

I don't think the stylists here have a whole lot of training or experience.

I went there hoping to get some white and some lavender - came out with more yellow, Barney purple & an incredibly uneven cut. -see photo

As much as I like The Well and their genuinely enthusiastic and all around kind hearted and friendly staff, this review is for their hair salon and, specifically, my hair stylist, Amanda Staples.

It has been a while since I have done a Yelp review but I am coming out of hiding to sing her praise, in paragraph form, for working miracles on my Dumbledore-like hair. My hair was wacky wavy with pesky wiry wisps that reminded me on a daily basis about a gene I inherited for premature gray. Well, that was until I met Amanda at The Well. I see her once a month and she has transformed my hair into a vibrant source of pride in my life. The color is impeccable and perfectly blended and I always walk out of the double doors feeling glossy and refreshed. I had to cancel an appointment last month because I left the country one week earlier than expected, I am not lying when I say that my trip was worse off because of it. I booked an appointment with her as soon as I was back in LA and I feel so much better now.

Please go see Amanda! You won't be disappointed. I am the type of person that bounces from stylist to stylist, usually dissatisfied. This is the first five star Yelp review I have ever left for a hair salon, and it is because Amanda is really that wonderful, both as a person and as a hair stylist.

Got my haircut by Jefferson was an awesome experience! I'll definitely come back when I'm in town. He listened to my requests while keeping on trend. Cool shopping spot too!

I came in to see Rolando for my sad, muddled hair and left with awesome, rich mermaid locks. Highly recommend him especially if you're like me and appreciate chill, cool, patient, handsome dudes that can do hair! The surrounding stylists were also very friendly, I was offered wine & the salon itself was pretty hip & kept clean.

Wow! I don't normally write reviews for a few reasons, but I have to for this place. I showed a picture of a dramatic new look and they nailed it. I so love my new cut and color. The vibe was chill but sleek.
Abraham and Leon are the best. I have done a lot to my hair over my life and I have not had anyone really try and create your vision like this.

I made appointment with Abraham and he was nothing but amazing.. professional, calming ( I was super stressed about making this switch) and sweet :)
Hair came out gorgeous, exceeded my expectations for sure .

All the stuff members there are nice and welcoming.
One thing tho , it's not a cheap place ..
