We host craft classes and workshops weekly, along with offering creative and customizable event packages for groups of all sizes. The Tinderbox also provides support to local artists by acting as a resource facility, retail center, and a place that fosters the relationship between artists and the community through education, exhibitions, and the promotion and sale of their handcrafted products. As an added bonus, all of the Makers in our brick & mortar space call the great state of Texas home.

The Tinderbox is oh so lovely. Filled with items and art from local artists, each item has a very special, handmade, beautiful and elegant quality to it. There are art prints, cards, jewelry, bath products, clothing- the list just goes on and on. There is a"kids section" with very cute stuffed toys and beautiful items that would go perfectly in a nursery.
Towards the back, there is a space where the store holds their craft workshops- pretty cool- and a good idea for a bridal shower activity/date night perhaps?
Stop by the Tinderbox, you never know what you might find!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - lauren c.Houston, TX6342Aug 8, 2013First to Review
The selection of items are clearly curated in the style of high-end 'local goods' shops of San Franscisco or New York. The store's owner, Ren, knows her stuff and has done a great job piecing together a cohesive retail space. It's the kind of place you would shop for gifts.. for literally anyone. Weather you know them super well or not at all, you can find something cool herel
There's beautiful jewelry,hand-made leather goods and candles -- all high quality items you might find expect to find at a place like Anthropologie -- but this stuff is LOCAL, y'all.
And then there's workshops! I have yet to attend one, but it seems like there's always some cool class going on that would work for any skill level.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dee E.Houston, TX415Aug 9, 2014
Finally, a shop in Houston that strives to showcase local and handmade goods! You know how you peruse Etsy and wish that you could actually touch and feel the goods you're drooling after? Well it's all here in this little shop! Great selection and reasonable prices. The added bonus for me is it's about 2 minutes from my house and it's bringing people back to old midtown and main.

Great space with handmade local Texas crafts and gifts. I took the soap making class with some of my friends. We had a great time. We will be back to take another craft class! The owner is super friendly and helpful!! I will be back.

Stopped into the Tinderbox after a resolute table-squatting session with a friend and a beer next door at Double Trouble. I have been on the prowl for stores that carry Joey & Jaime Houston-themed t-shirts, and finally saw these in the crowded windows of Tinderbox. I love this shop, you guys. It's eclectic, high quality handmade gifts and hobnobs that are beautifully arranged. And we aren't talking wickedly expensive artisanal crafts. I walked out with a bracelet and two original cards for less than $20. This place absolutely will convince you that buying local is the only way to go.

The Tinderbox is an awesome store in Houston to find hand made pieces of art! They have a variety of things from jewelry to prints to furniture and more. The owner has a great eye for quality and design so the items are not only cool but the layout of the store is also well done.
I had a hard time finding parking due to a bunch of construction (story of Houston apparently) but when I asked the gals in the store where to go they directed me to a good spot across the street. There are also some cool businesses next door for food, coffee and live music which is an extra plus!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Veronica B.Houston, TX3287Apr 19, 2014
Cute selection of handcrafted items. I regularly shop on etsy and I recognized some of the local Houston artists. Bonus. A solid shop if you're looking for a little something to gift yourself or a friend.
