Groovy man- This spot is a Time Warp Lounge.
It's a great spot for Bohemians, retro lounge aficionados, Burning man art types, scooter kids, and go go dancers. Known in it's past for after-hours, after-burn and private parties.. Tiger Lounge has come out in full force as a public licensed bar and bistro. Open 11-2am.
When you walk up to the front porch you arrived to a very hip house converted to a lounge. The windows are painted as huge psychedelic lamps.
Inside- Its like the band is performing for you in your own home with your friends and fellow party goers. We saw KJ Sawka here and it was a blast. The bar is located down three steps, and it can get tight during shows, so have a seat and a waitress will be by to serve you.
They serve a late menu with pizzas, snacks, ect.. but I will have to come back to try that. I was here for the show and drinks. I thought the prices were a lil steep for the little drink cups but that was during a busy show so maybe I'll see what I get the next time when it's slower.
Outside in back- there is another bar and plenty of seating with a smoking section. I love the outdoor firepit, it is an awesome metal fire monster roaring with heat it is likely direct from a burning man art piece.
Chill atmosphere and a nice bartender. This is going to be a good summer here in Georgetown, mark my words.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Vodka T.Seattle, WA14452Nov 19, 2009
It's a rare gem.
Open to suggestion, and supportive of local talent- including off the wall underground and unusual talent. I'm not saying that's all they have but they're open to it. They have a semi regular 'Burner' night for the Burning Man crowd, they have a scooter friendly night, a comedy night- several classic pinball machines, a back yard space that occasionally comes alive with performance artists and local bands.
If you have a band, an act or a concept they're open to giving you a shot- check it out. That alone is worth the trek :)
-also I've always loved their food- they have a sizable lunch crowd from neighboring Georgetown and I've never been disappointed- peeking in every so often since it's opened. I'm most impressed with the underground crowd it draws that are hip to it.
If you want a high end experience Look Elsewhere! Stick to Bellevue or 1st and Belltown! Personally I'd rather it remain an underground sensation and continue flourishing the artist scene.
I give it 5 stars for possibility and a solid 4 for where it is now.
Again - this is what it is- an art scene. It would be unfair to judge this as a high end establishment for a finicky crowd of well heeled heels which, I'm glad to say, it's not.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 4, 2009
I've read the previous reviews, and whatever the problems were, I get the feeling they've fixed them. I looked into the kitchen, and it was quite tidy, and the pizza I ordered was very good!
Tiger Lounge also stands out due to it's great prices (a real plus in this sucky economy), atmosphere (a sort of 'Austin Powers meets Martin Denny vibe'), and the layout of the space (a collection of large rooms for partying, and plenty of intimate corners for quiet conversation with that special someone ;) !) It really captures the 'third place' feel just like Starbucks does, but in a more hip way!
Oh, by the way, have you been in the cellar? They have a collection of wonderful vintage pinball machines with vintage prices (when was the last time you played pinball for 5 balls/25cents?).
In other words, Tiger Lounge is one of the coziest and most comfortable 'hangout' joints in Seattle! Check them out!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kate S.Seattle, WA19673095Aug 29, 2011
3 1/2 stars for this joint.
It is like a house party going on at this place -- because this bar is literally in a house. Without the sign you'd think someone was going to get the cops called on them by the neighbors.
Outside-front you have a couch on the porch, inside you have a huge front area full of tables (not populated the evening we went in). The back bar is tiny but I apparently got a rocking deal on a double 7&7, since I only paid $6 and later that evening my sister paid $9.50. The backyard of this place has be transformed into a nice stage area-- some local hip-hop band was there the evening I went and they were only so-so. The dogs that were allowed here held my interest more than the music did. The bathroom is tiny, sorta sketch and apparently has an issue with the lock since I almost walked in on a dude :S Oy. The best part was the downstairs which is full of vintage pinball machines that only cost a quarter to play.
If this were any closer I could totally see myself coming out here more often. Fun house-party vibe, strong drinks, and the pooch would be allowed? Seems like a solid joint out in Georgetown to me.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Brendan M.Seattle, WA2336Jun 26, 2009
I went here for lunch yesterday and had the Zeppelin pizza. Mmmmmm.... pizza.... It's yet another house turned eating/drinking establishment and has the crazy layout to match. There's also a big patio out back. As far as beers, they only had a small selection on tap from Two Beers Brewing Co (which will soon be moving to the area).
Looking forward to checking it out in the evening times.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chelsy C.Port Angeles, WA21627080Jan 28, 2010
I want to like the Tiger Lounge, I really really do.
I saw a show here a few months ago (KJ Sawka) and it freakin' rocked!
I rolled in here get a light dinner, and it just seemed like everything went downhill after we walked in.
1. I understand that a place will run out of items on the menu, I keep rolling.
2. I've gotten hair in my food before. I keep rolling.
3. Sometimes the waitstaff will forget one or two of your sides. I keep rolling.
4. I don't get reved up if the waitress forgets to check if the meal is OK.
5. I start coasting when I get charged full price for happy hour drinks.
6. The rolling stops and the brakes come on when I get charged for drinks I didn't order or receive.
I will probably go see live music here again, but will go elsewhere for food.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Steven B.Seattle, WA154362Nov 21, 2009
I've been here about 6 times now over 4 months, alone, with groups, during a show, and they keep getting better. I can't add much to the other recent high star reviews, but I do appreciate how hard they are working at booking live acts and bands, in addition to dj nights. The ancient pinballs machines downstairs are a blast, and the new remodel in the front is a big improvement to the space. Not very busy on weeknights, I recommend it then, when it's not so loud and boisterous, great for hanging out with a pal.
The back yard experience is the best part of the Tiger lounge, I think.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Elise D.Seattle, WA171445Apr 7, 2010
A bonus bar (because of the distance) on our Georgetown crawl. #9 on the list.
I swear, I thought I was at a house party... not a bar. Tons on pinball downstairs, and a sweet backyard. This place is super chill and just an all around great "bar" to hang out at. They have a Tiki god in the backyard... whose eyes do not look red, but appear red in photos. They also have a dog.
Wait... maybe we were at a house party? Not sure how we found this place, but thank goodness we did.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shekinah S.Saint Paul, MN207804284Aug 7, 2011
Eh, there were some cool things about The Tiger Lounge but it was not greater than the sum of its mixed bag parts.
Fav thing: The basement is full of old pinball machines that you can play for a quarter. It was possibly my first time playing pinball and it was actually really fun.
On the plus side:
-- Interesting layout due to the fact that it's an old house turned into a bar
-- The bathrooms weren't too bad
-- Outside back patio and a front porch with a couch
-- Supports local art and music
Mixed feelings: For a Tiger Lounge I saw about two pieces of tiger stuff. The upstairs has a few pictures of old fountains and statues. The bar has airplane pics and signs. The pinball area has netting on the walls and a giant fishnet stuck in a corner. It was all rather haphazard and half-assed. Pick a theme and stick with it. I suggest expanding the airplane collection and changing the name to The Jet City Lounge. You're welcome.
Not so fond of:
-- Out of the way industrial neighborhood
-- You have to walk all the way through the house, I mean lounge, to get to the bar
-- They ran out of Grenadine so I couldn't have a Shirley Temple and I heard the bartendress tell another patron they were out of something else
-- They stopped using glass about an hour after we got there and I had to drink water out of a plastic cup that had a weird ledge around the rim
We were at The Tiger Lounge to see some friends do live painting. Turns out it was Garage Fest so we had to pay $10 to listen to mostly terrible bands. I highly doubt I'll be back. Parking was easy though if you're interested in exploring the eye of the tiger.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jodie H.Seattle, WA70517Nov 19, 2009
The Tiger Lounge is the coolest place you never heard of!
I started going to the Tiger Lounge during the summer months after my scooter friends and I decided it would be a nice, central meet-up place for our group, given that we come from both the northend and also south of seattle! It's super easy to find, right off 4th in a quiet neighborhood. I have started to come back here regularly, because of the fun, hip atmosphere and because the staff is VERY attentive and courteous, whether you are ordering food..or drinks!
They are very eager to please, always asking for suggestions! I order food here almost weekly and for the inexpensive price, whether you order a gourmet pizza or one of the fabulous sandwich combos, it's always EXCEEDED my expectations!
The place is nice and clean, including the kitchen and bathrooms.
The decor is fun and entices you to shake your booty to the music which is mostly a mix featuring 60s and soul, with some fun modern tunes. It really depends on which cool DJ is spinning that night! They always have different shows going on, and they are great about keeping their website up-to-date with upcoming events.
I love the layout of the space! I can have a group meeting and then break away for all the other fun the Tiger Lounge offers. Or I can roll up in the joint going solo, and I'm met with warm hellos and instant service.
Oooh, and I love the classic pinball machines downstairs...what a great idea! There are like 5-6 to choose from, my friends and I always play at least a few games before dancing. The most fun you can get for a quarter these days, for sure!
I would highly suggest that you come and check it out and see it yourself. I've never been disappointed and hope this place is around for a long long time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
