I've driven across both North and South Carolina and this is the best you will find. The burnt ends, ribs, and brisket remind me of my KC roots and there is also a diverse assortment of sauces. Sweet and mustard are my favorites. Fried okra, sweet potato casserole, Mac n cheese all hit. Great service, great vibe.
Ordering a platter is good for two full meals, making it a pricey but worthwhile investment.
See you again soon Smoke Pit and keep doing what you are doing!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nguyen L.Jacksonville, FL315372867Mar 4, 20241 check-in

Yes please! I love their brisket. I went to the Gastonia location this time. They have a larger (and nicer) restaurant and bar. Staff are very friendly. I ordered takeout. While waiting the bartender went out of his way for me. Thank you ... sorry I don't remember your name.
If you are like me I don't like to sit in a restaurant alone so take out it is.
Enjoy!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Apr 9, 2023Previous reviewI have never had a meal I didn't like at the Smoke Pit. For the longest time I thought this was a meat market. It was a pleasant surprise to learn it was a restaurant. I continue to go to the Smoke Put whenever I am craving ribs or beef brisket. They have several sauces to choose from. You can get it added or or the side. Several sides to choose from to make it a meal.
You can sit down and eat or get take out. They have counter service to pick up your take out. They get busy enough where they split the line....those waiting for a seat and those waiting to grab their take out.
A great place to stop if you like ribs, BBQ, or brisket. Yum! - Apr 18, 20241 check-in
Was driving from Charlotte NC to Danville VA and decided to stop and give them a try and I am so glad I did. I went with the burnt ends platter. The cashier asked if I wanted regular or large and Me being a big guy said yes. Wow was I in for a surprise. The portion was huge. The burnt ends were really good, the Mac n cheese and the spicy creamed corn was also really good. I was there about 1:30 in the afternoon and they were still pretty busy with about 3/4 of the tables occupied. The staff were all polite and attentive and the food came out quickly. I will certainly be stopping in again when I am in the area.

Found my new obsession as a Charlotte transplant. We grabbed some takeout from here on Wednesday night while in the area...not only are the sides amazing but they give you an extra for free on Wednesdays? Come on, what's not to love? Coming to CLT from Texas, I wasn't too invested in the BBQ scene until I stopped in here. Amazing brisket, turkey, and chicken, delicious sides, and the staff were super patient and kind while I figured out what I wanted for my first visit here. Definitely coming back here every Wednesday...and maybe Thursday and Friday... you get the point

If you're in the area you must come here!
My boyfriend and I were in Charlotte, heading back home to Winston and we decided to stop here for lunch. You can tell it was a popular spot because the parking lot was nearly full and the line was long. The wait wasn't bad.
Seating is first come first serve and there is outdoor seating as well. You order at the register then you pick your seat and they bring the food out to you.
I got a pulled chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. He ordered the brisket with a side of greens and Mac and cheese and a peach cobbler to go. The food came out quickly and it was good! We both ate everything. He is a brisket fanatic and he approved.
We can't wait to come back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Nov 10, 2023
I came with a bunch of friends and decided to go family-style with a bunch of meats and sides.
For the meat, we ordered a pound of pulled pork, a pound of brisket, a whole rack of ribs. I thought all the meats were good, but the brisket was my favorite - it was tender, moist, and flavorful. The pulled pork was more coarsely pulled, which sometimes can equate to drier meat, but surprisingly it wasn't too dry. The ribs were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor as well.
As for the sides, we got the mac n cheese, cole slaw (vinegar based / red slaw), and collard greens. The mac n cheese was far and away my favorite - it had a generous amount of cheese and was nice and creamy. The collard greens were also tasty, had pieces of bacon in it (always good), and not too over-cooked / mushy. The cole slaw was ok - I do enjoy a good vinegar based red slaw, but this one was definitely heavy on the vinegar.
I appreciated that they had a bunch of different sauces available to try with the different meats. There's definitely not a one-sauce-fits-all, but to be able to mix and match the different sauces was a good experience.
The restaurant is more fast casual in that you order at the counter when you enter, you seat yourself, and the food then comes out to you. We didn't have to wait very long for our food, so the service was very quick. We came on a Saturday at around 11:50am and there was only one person before us, and right after we ordered (right around 12pm), the line extended out to the door. So if our visit was any indication of when it gets busy, try to get there before noon on the weekends if you don't want to wait in line.
Parking was plentiful, and the space was clean. Great food, great experience!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Derek L.Franklinville, NC2215Apr 12, 2024

Food is really good just needs better seating. Customer service can be a bit tricky but usually decent.
