I took in about 20 items to consign. Mostly from Nordstrom, Macy's, Banana, White House Black Market, and a couple of things from specialty boutiques. A few of the items were brand new with tags. The lady looked through them while I browsed the store. After about 15 minutes she told me that it wouldn't work for them because the brands were not recognizable. What?? As I was looking through the inventory they had, I noticed all the same brands already on their racks.
Her attitude was so condescending that I will never step foot in that store again.
And for the record, their inventory was horrible. And the quality of some of the items were so bad that I would expect them to be at goodwill.
Maybe if you are 50+ you will have better luck.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Liz B.Redmond, WA032Mar 18, 2017
Stopped by to ask about consigning some items on a wet Saturday morning, wearing a rain jacket, jeans, Frye boots and carrying a non-obvious Coach bag (this is all relevant, trust me). I asked about consignment info and the woman at the counter was friendly at first, but when I asked about bags and wedding dresses, emphasized at least three times that she didn't buy fake bags. I get it- I don't look like I belong in Bellevue (more Seattle, I suppose), but after the first time I stopped her and told her I don't buy fake bags myself and the bags I was looking to sell were purchased at a Coach store. She kept going on, when all she needed to do was say it once, because that is a sensible policy. But if you don't want to do business with me because of some arbitrary thing, say that too rather than waste my time.

i have consigned here for years but stopped when the ownership changed.
I decided to give her another chance about a year ago-they are in my neighborhood, and i adore DIane, who works there on Tuesday. I have been bringing in upscale contemporary items in new and as-new condition, clean, ironed, excellent shape and things that are reasonably valued in the current marketplace. As an ebay seller since 1999, I have a very good grasp of the contemporary retail market. (I actually DO love fashion and have been consigning for 35 years. I do know what to expect, and what my return should be)
I kept getting very little return for what i was bringing in and finally asked about it. It turns out I was a fool to blindly trust that Bonnie, the owner, might actually know her market and what items should sell for (which at other consignment stores I do not question) She was selling my $250 Equipment silk blouses for $12.99.....because she did not know the brand. ouch! This is just one example. She's been undervaluing my items for way longer than I should have let her. When it was suggest that she Google items to determine their value, she couldn't be bothered. When asked about it, she said "why should I? it's just for fun!" What? Fun for who?
I have not given up entirely. I will start asking for an accounting of my items and the price they will sell for. and if she does not want to do that I will go elsewhere.
Last of all, I was told that they don't take long sleeves in the spring, even if they are pastels, linen or silk. And they won't take sleeveless in the winter, even if it's after dark or cocktail. I don't know when she thinks people wear long sleeved pastel linen pieces. Probably in the winter. Or heaven forbid, a sparkly spaghetti strap cocktail dress over the holidays! (though it now appears that she has rethought this. Yesterday the policy had magically changed)
The owner is a woman who hates fashion and has attached a ridiculous, arbitrary set of rules to what she thinks people want. Her indifference to fashion has her completely in the wrong industry and this once lovely store is suffering for it. I would say to give it a pass except that when I bring my stuff in, there are lots of good pieces, and heck, they are a bargain, too! (see above!)
My best advice. Go on a Tuesday. If you consign, ask for a written account of her pricing. I am a bit reluctant to post this, but heck, I know she'll never see it. I'm sure she can't be bothered.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Susan H.Bellevue, WA01Feb 4, 2016
I wish I read these reviews before trying to consign something here. The uppity, older, rude and condescending brunette woman would not look at the shoes or purses I brought in since I didn't have any clothes for her to look at first. Then I asked if she would take a quick look so I would know whether I should bring the shoes in or not when my clothes were ready to bring in and she said "no". Honestly, I couldn't understand what the big deal was, helping out a potential seller, it wasn't like she had any customers to tend to.
My advice - don't waste your time bringing your clothes (and definitely not shoes!) here, instead bless others by bringing your clothes to The Sophia Way or to a local church where your items will be appreciated.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carol P.Renton, WA03Jan 31, 2018

Nice selection, but very poor customer service if you're consigning clothes. I understand that they know their clientele, and what their clientele will buy, and I"m OK with that. The woman who makes the choices is very condescending, though, and after about my fourth time consigning here, I decided it wasn't worth the mistreatment. We live in a culture that expects Nordstrom customer service, or least common courtesy, and I have never gotten this here when consigning.
Now I donate my clothes to the business clothing bank at the local battered women's shelter. They appreciate it, I feel good about it, and truthfully, the tax deduction is pretty close to what I ended up pocketing from consigning at ReDress.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mileni D.San Diego, CA0441Oct 13, 2009First to Review
This is a great consignment store, that I was happy to find. (Why no reviews?) I wouldn't go to Bellevue just for it, but when you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go visit it. The clothes are definitely on the dressier side, meant for women of 40 and over, but there are plenty of career clothes for younger women, and also a few cute and casual basics for anyone. The store is well organized and a pleasure to browse, with plenty of space; it smells and looks clean, everything looks in very good condition. The prices are very reasonable; I bought 2 cotton and silk knit tops (very soft and pretty, basic but dressy) for $28 - better, they were 50% off and I only paid $14! There were quite a few shoes, but not many handbags. The staff was this nice little old lady that had never heard of Yelp before; the owner wasn't there so she couldn't allow me to take any pictures inside, which was understandable. Oh, my favorite (and most unexpected) item: a very sexy pair of leather pants. (Too bad they didn't fit!) So you never know what you might find.

Last week I was unexpectedly in the strip mall this store is located in. I walked in excited to see items available.
The first thing I heard was, "I'm about ready to close." Not, "Hi, welcome. FYI, I'll be closing in a few minutes (or various)."
Obviously more interested in getting out of the store than gaining a new customer. I'll not return.
Merchandise was well displayed and looked inviting...sorry. Attitude is everything.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sun G.La Conner, WA02Aug 24, 2016
I consigned with the Redress Shop's lovely previous owner Leslie and her nice employees for many years, first in the Lake Hills Shopping Center. Some time after new ownership took over a few years back, I was treated so rudely it was unbelievable. I had questions about where merchandise was that I had consigned and had never been paid for, that also did not show it was returned or donated. I was treated so terribly by both the woman working there in the store, and later by the owner on the phone, that I will never do business with them again. It was honestly one of those moments it is hard to believe someone is really saying what you're hearing, and as other reviewers said, their tone and condescending attitudes are a big part of the problem.

I will never shop here again after what I witnessed. While we were shopping a heavy set woman came in wanting to sell some clothes on consignment. The clerk was incredibly rude to her. She let her know that not only would they not be interested in her plus size garments but that she was sure no store in Bellevue would consider them either. She said she had heard there was a store in Seattle that would but she didn't know anything about it. The words were not as objectionable as the tone she used while saying them. She acted like the clothes were diseased and that the woman had offended her for thinking they would stoop to carrying plus size garments. I will say the selection in this store is fine but after seeing a potential customer destroyed in that manner I would recommend steering clear.
