Does anyone know if it's temporary closed because of COVID or is it closed permanently ? Thank you

I spoke to one of the ladies that work there, she said they will re-open but they have to meet the restrictions due to covid. The way it is with the lines to get in and how they are setup, they cannot open yet. They did cut the phone off she said to… more

Yelp is reporting the Redd House permanently closed. It isn't. The owners are renovating and fully intend to reopen, but no date has been set yet.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 21, 2017Previous reviewHere is a jewel. Without a doubt, The Red House is the finest southern food restaurant in all of North Georgia. We found The Redd House several years back, when passing through Jefferson and asked a local about a good place to have lunch. Every visit is a good as the last. There is nothing that even comes close to it in all of metro Atlanta. So we don't mind making the 90 mile drive several times per year.
The food here is consistently excellent and of high quality. This is rare among all-you-can eat buffets. The staff is friendly and efficient. The price is right too! - Sep 23, 2018
First and foremost, I must disclose: I do not like buffets so if you do, you may enjoy this place more than me! MOST IMPORTANT NOTE FOR YOU: IT IS CASH ONLY. You're welcome. $18 (plus tax) for the basic buffet and there are other options to add on if you wanna get all fancy.
Located on an old road in the middle of nowhere, the grounds are owned by the family and there are horses beside the parking lot. Country! Careful though folks - there's an electric fence to keep you from getting too close. The restaurant is an old farmhouse on a hill with a few benches outside to wait for your table...and yes, you will likely wait a bit since this place is pretty popular. Your entire party must be present to be seated btw.
No alcoholic beverages here, but they'll serve you up some sweet tea with a smile. So that being said: the food...
- First station: Salad stuff. Bagged lettuce blend, some slaws, bean salad, potato salad, etc.
- Second station: BBQ meats, ribs, wings (not a fan), beans, veggies and random fried sides like fries and hush puppies
- Third station: Lots of fried things. Fried fish, fried clams, fried shrimp, Stuffed crabs and a random vat of cheese grits. And collard greens
- Fourth station: A mishmosh of desserts, raw oysters and shrimp
I started to get creative with my plate and loaded it up with the salad and some of the shredded chicken which made for a nice meal. Worth the price regardless when you consider you can spend hours here. Bring your super hungry friends and family!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Feb 4, 2019
My husband has been talking about this place since he visited over a year ago. So when we came back to GA to visit family, this was our Friday night dinner. We had a group of about 11 people. Thankfully when we arrived about 5:45pm on Friday night we were immediately seated.
I ordered my two kids (6 & 4 years old) the shrimp kids meal and the fried fish kids meal. We ended up taking half their food home but they said it was good. From the buffet, I got fried fish, fried shrimp, ribs, peel & eat shrimp, salad, mixed veggies, and some other things. It was good. Please remember - bring cash. They do not accept cards which I feel they should. There was definitely a crowd of people waiting to be seated as we were leaving. Popular place. The place isn't huge so I'd suggest getting there not long after they open.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Leslyn Moore- J.Atlanta, GA603886Oct 29, 2018
My favorite food is Seafood, so taking a long drive for some "promised" fantastic seafood buffet, well I was all in.
This place is in Jefferson, Ga way way off the the main strip, sure nuff couldn't find it without a map or gps. It is at a weird 3 way intersection. You head onto the property on a gravel road...
With all that said, this place is opened for 3 days over the weekend ONLY, from 5:00p-9:00p. We got there 10mins before they opened and the line was long and the parking lot was almost full. Once the doors open be sure all your party is there or they won't seat you, we had a party of 7, 3 of which was still parking and we let ppl skip us.
Not only was there seafood, but mostly southern food. I focused on the lightly breaded large sized fried shrimp, Alaskan crab legs, and shrimp cocktail. I need another trip soon since I didn't get to the shrimp and grits, yes the food was amazing. Staff was pleasant, place was packed. No seafood on Sundays.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Corey R.Hoschton, GA1351Oct 19, 2019
Imagine what dinner is like in heaven... assuming God is southern (as every southerner knows He is) that is what you will find at The Redd House (aka "Redd's").
I am actually torn about giving Redd's a good review, but only because I don't want to end up behind you in the line to get in!
This place, this wonderful, glorious, even sacred place of eating is one of the many gifts we get to enjoy living in GA. The incomprehensible feast served at Redd's is complimented by a staff that treats you like family.
Leaving Redd's you aren't just satisfied with a great meal... you leave with your faith in humanity restored, knowing that there are still good people out there and that everything will be ok.
I realize as I write this review, it's not so much to encourage anyone else to go to Redd's (for the reason stated above) as it is to ask the owners to never close their doors. Redd's makes the world a better place, one fried green tomato at a time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dusty F.Mount Airy, GA1963371278Mar 23, 2019
Its Saturday around 5:15p and the Redd House opened at 5p for dinner. There was a super long line and we waited for over an hour to get in. A hostess seats your party and leaves you silverware and menus. A waitress appears to take your food and drink order. Its buffet or order off the menu. I ate the buffet and it was Ok... not bad but not super good... just Ok. Not worth the hour long wait or the $20 per person price tag. I say its about the same as Ryans or Golden Corral... its a local buffet... its Ok.

Usually enjoy eating here, but last couple times have been let down.
Learn to season the water that the boiled shrimp and crawdads are in people.
So bland!
Also, the boiled shrimp was mushy when trying to peel them, almost like they hadn't been cooked.
Also, put some lighting in the main area, can't even see what you're eating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Robert B.Buford, GA3967Jun 3, 2019
I should have believed the reviews. The food was subpar. Golden Corral is much better and less expensive. Service was slow, but they were very nice. The food was very bad. Salad bar was iceberg from a bag. The seafood was very average. The pork BBQ was tasteless and seemed to be boiled instead of smoked. Vegetables were very over cooked and tasteless. I thought the potatoes were OK but $18 should give you more than potatoes. The yeast rolls were OK. Also not as good as Golden Corral. The desserts were boring but ok. Also, if you are going to have fried chicken in this kind of place, please have proper fried chicken. Not some weird piece of a breast. The ribs were ok. Also tasted boiled.
I will not be back. This place makes me want to go to Golden Corral, and I have not been there in over a year.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sherry P.Buford, GA259153Aug 22, 2016
Off the beaten path but so worth the trip! Good home cooking, NON chain restaurants are what I live for and The Redd House is just that!
Everything there tastes just like my grandma used to make.

Outstanding! Fresh hot food added to buffet constantly. Seafood, ribs, BBQ, cheese grits, salad bar, fish, baked taters....... everything that we ate was great!
