Our rib eye steak dinner was the best.
Comes with all the fixin...beans baked potato and tossed salad. Atmosphere is old school and laid back. Service was great...We will return!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam B.Phoenix, AZ916198May 27, 2017
I have to say this place unique but uncanny good!
It really reminds me of the 50's type Route 66 style steak places we would stop at as we blazed east.
Fun, uniquely dated but cozy and consistent in good flavors and delivery.
If you happen to blaze by here when they are open Friday, Saturday or Sunday only by all means stop!!
If you come through when they are not open hit the taco truck in the front!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J. W.Garden Grove, CA1075122Jun 1, 2018
I've worked in this area for 2 years, originally from Los Angeles and noticed this location and thought it was an abandoned building, it's next to a catering truck so I never thought anything of it, I asked a buddy if this was actually a restaurant and he said yes, I seen him post from fb here but never put 2 and 2 together. I've been to Fleming's Morton's, Boa, Ruth's Chris, and other places in NY, Chicago and Boston and alas Vegas, and let me tell you that none of them compare to the porterhouse steak I have here.
If you're in the area do yourself a favor and stay away from the other steakhouses that cook over a toxic gas flame because here they cook over wood on a real BBQ Pit.
Tisha The server is amazing, also on point and the owner Jackie is outgoing and will greet you sometime through your visit, I can't state enough of how I'm amazed at this place and kick myself in the pants for not knowing about it 2 yers ago.

Never heard of this restaurant before, since I'm from LA, but decided to try it, since my friend recommended it. We were starving haha, a steakhouse was a good choice because big portions.
Started off getting the soup of the day which was clam chowder. And this had to be one of the BEST clam chowders I've ever had. It was seasoned perfectly, and had that nice rich clammy flavor. 10/10 would eat again.
Next I ended up getting a burger with all those wonderful sides haha. Was considering getting a steak, but tried some of my friends steak instead. It was really tender and juicy. The burger was also nice and juicy, and seasoned well.
My trip to Fresno was great, and my friends, and I will definitely come here again, whenever we visit Fresno.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kareen B.Fresno, CA22162May 21, 2018Updated review

Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 9, 2017Previous reviewThis restaurant is great. The portions are very large and cooked to profession. If your driving in Centerville you probably passed with stopping because the outside is pretty under stated. But I highly recommend it.

I really wanted to love this place. Sad to say I can't.
I ordered a rib eye and first off it came out with a BBQ sauce on it. WTH?! I ordered a steak! Why wouldn't that be on the menu? Once I got past that the actual meat was tough. I ordered it medium and I would have sworn it was well done except for the color it was so tough.
Just a really cheap piece of meat.
Then my kids got the burgers. Can I say that $13 for a cheeseburger that McDonald's would give you better for $3.00 is pretty sad.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff B.Fresno, CA0247Jan 7, 2019
I had seen the reviews and the pictures for this place on yelp for a while. Finally found the day to go and try it for myself. The place was pretty busy when we walked in. The service was good and friendly. The bread that was served with the green salad was awesome. Love soft and warm sourdough bread. I had the porterhouse medium rare and was extremely pleased with the cut and it was cooked perfectly. We ordered a slice of chocolate cream pie and lemon meringue pie for desert. They were outstanding.
On a side note my daughter had the bbq chicken breast and I tell you the homemade bbq sauce was on point!!! Sweet with a little spice to it. Just really good bbq sauce.
If your looking for a high priced stuffy steakhouse stay away. If your looking for a really damn good steak and a friendly place with homemade desert then I would say to try this place out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Glen L.Downtown, Fresno, CA01Aug 24, 2021

Crazy Bernie and Tammy The Tornado blew into this little gem of a steakhouse tonight and boy are we glad we did. Had a good vibe from the minute we walked in. Love the super private wooden booths. Our waitress Kassie was on it. Her suggestions were right on. We both decided on the petite NY and what she brought us was delicious. Cooked to perfect Med Rare as ordered. Salad was great as was the clam chowder cup. Ice cold beer and wine too. Sourdough bread was warm and incredible. Cant wait to come again. Crazy Bernie is a huge fan!

This place is a hidden gem! My husband and I love coming to the Rare Steer for a night out. The atmosphere is quiet, the servings are HUGE and the food always tastes fresh and fantastic. Usually I get the chicken and my husband gets a steak or whatever the special is.
You cannot beat their prices! The decor is a bit dated but that's what gives this place its charm. I highly recommend this steakhouse.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
